are waders meant to protect against stinging nettles or are they meant to be waterproof? I've seen types online which boat tough nylon fabric while coated with PVC that boast waterproofness, but surely that would also protect against stinging nettles too? Or is there different gear to protect against nettles?
I need adivice
I am thinking about buying a shimano vanford spinning reel (2024 version), should i get the 2500 or 3000 size for pike fishing?
I’m probably late to the party but my local dicks sucks at merchandising/updating. To my benefit because I made them price match this reel.
Hey fishinggear,
I wanted to get a second opinion or other recommendations for my first heavy fishing combo. I was eyeing the Samaki Zing 3 702SXH 15-30lb rod to pair with my Penn Battle 3 6000 reel to cast off of jetties and rocks. Is this a good rod to get or should I consider another one around $100?
100~150$ price range
Tsunami Airwave Elite LIGHT 8' 1/2-1 3/4oz - on sale and light is tempting for throwing lures but wondering if its strong enough for the coastal fish here
Tsunami Trophy 2 8'6" medium 1/2-2oz - hear good things about all of tsunamis rods and the price is nice
Star Rods Stellar Surf 8' M 1/2-3oz - included because I have a star stellar lite inshore I'm pretty happy with but haven't heard anything about their surf rods
Okuma Rockaway 8ft medium 1/2-2oz - also comes in same power 9ft
Okuma Nesika 9' medium 1/2-1 1/2 oz (or 3/4 - 2 oz) don't see these talked about as much as the Rockaway but it seems like a Rockaway blank aimed at being a lighter caster which is what im going for anyways
After getting addicted to watching videos of striper fishing up north I've been having fun trying to use my light inshore tackle at the beaches and jetties here in east central Florida. It's definitely pushing what my 7' medium rod can do though. Now I'm looking for a surf rod light enough to actively cast 1/2-2 oz bucktails and spoons with enough backbone to handle the current and bigger fish out there. Really just targeting whatever will bite and put up a good fight. Ive come up with these rods after some research but I'd really appreciate any other recommendations along with lure suggestions. As for reels I have a beat up Penn battle 3 5000 that might be a bit heavy but will do until I can afford a nice sealed 4000.
I am currently in Japan, any advice on great fishing stores not to miss out in Kyoto, Osaka, or near Lake Biwa ? Looking for Deps, Evergreen, Zenaq, megabass, Drt stuff mostly. Northern pike / bass gear. I have been to VillageDoor and Sansui in Tokyo already, 10/10 shops. Also any "must" limited/rare item to take back ? Im french, not from US. Thx !
So, I’m looking to get a new bait caster combo. I want to get a shimano tranx, but I am torn between two sizes. I’m not sure if I should get a 300 size or a 400 size. The reel will be for striped bass, snook, and small tarpon. With this info, what size do you think I should get?
I have a two piece rod I used to absolutely love. I casted the top half off into a lake one day but kept the bottom. Is it possible to put a different top on top and then fiberglass it and make it a single piece rod? I know it may be janky but I just was curious.
I am looking for a good quality bass rod and reel combo to replace my uglystik. It served me very well for a time but I’m ready for something new and higher quality, and I need help finding a new rod and reel combo to purchase. Ideally below 150-200 dollars. I would prefer a 6ft rod and a spinning reel. I am doing my own research to find some good replacements but if anyone that knows a lot about bass equipment and wants to chime in any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
I've seen these posts but was always skeptical... Well call me a believer. Ordered 1 of these and my heart skipped a beat when my package came in a box instead of the usual loose in the envelope.
Dreams can come true people.
Got these two whisker seeker rods, one is a full metal jacket heavy 9 foot 6 with an abu Garcia c3 7000 Other is a heavy 7 foot 6 with a c3 with a 6500 Got em both for $300 couldn’t believe the guy said yes. Very grateful.
He then gave me this Veritas combo that he found in a lake. He said he didn’t like baitcasters at all and just gave it to me. It’s missing a few eyelet inserts and one guide is almost gone, while another is gone. The reel looks like it will be okay once it’s serviced. My plan is to just reach out to Abu Garcia and see if I can pay for a new one through their replacement program since it would technically be out of warranty, anyone have any experience with this?
Pulled this from a tree branch. Is this normal?
New fishing storage rack for my birthday 10/10 recommend! took me less than 5 minutes to get ready for my trip instead of wondering where certain things are lol
Looking for something to handle 1/16 oz lures that can still handle the occasional bass/larger fish. I mostly fish from shore in town and am looking for a rod that can whip out a crickhopper or trout/crappie magnet. Looking to keep it under $50 if possible.
As title says, I'm gathering recrecommendations for him rn and would like other people's input. I'm going to show him basic freshwater bank fishing stuff bass trout ect with some surf fishing next year if he sticks with it. I am not recommending anything high end as idk if he will stick with the hobby but knowing him ik he likes good quality stuff so I'm looking at more "high end budget" combos ie penn fierce IV in probably the 3k size (what are you thoughts on 4k I personally wouldn't use 4k for bank fishing for bass) or a veritas combo ect.
I googled Diawa Zillion and found this deal on a Japanese website. I just don't know if it's a good deal or maybe a scam. Don't these reels usually go for $300+?
