Anyone have a Phenix M1 Inshore?

Looking to buy one but the lure weights seem pretty high. The medium heavy is rated for 2-6 oz Can you throw lighter lures on the medium heavy well?

How do I know when/where/how?

So I’m not super new to fishing, but I’d like to start catching more than local bluegills. A lot of my ads now are showing me a bunch of “the only fishing guide you’ll ever need” types of apps.

Is there a good guide, be it an app, website, or book, that’ll give a complete breakdown of what lures work on what fish and how to move them/what depth to use?

Question about line rating vs pole/reel rating

(I am new into the whole fishing thing for context) So I recently got an Abu Garcia vengeance reel rated 6lb/225yd with a vengeance rod 7' medium rated for 6-12lb line and I'm wondering if it would be a stupid idea to spool it with 30lb spider wire braid. I'm not exactly sure how bad this would be and have read about how drag plays into it(not sure what that is but sounds important). What's the move here?

Need recommendations from the spincast crew on a reel.

I’m looking to get my kid a new spincast reel and wanted some recommendations. He’s 4 so I think the ugly tuff and bullet would be out because they are heavy as shit. I’m hoping for something smaller and lighter if possible for him. A half decent drag would be a bonus since even if he’s just soaking a worm or minnow our area has quite a few good sized walleye and pike, as well as some big carp, even though big fish won’t really be the target. Mostly perch, and smaller walleye and pike I would think. Is the Zebco 33 still a decent real? Profishency Sniper? Pflueger President? Zebco Roam? I’m open to opinions here.

I recently bought him an Abu Garcia Max X and it’s an absolute steaming pile of shit. Drag was absolutely horrible and was basically “go free fishy, we won’t try to stop you” or “so you want to stop a truck?”. The worst part is that the casting mechanism for the line release straight up doesn’t work probably 70% of the time. It won’t release the line when you let off the button to cast, and often you have to do several cycles of clicking the button and engaging the handle before a button click actually releases line. This leads to dangerous hooks swinging around instead of leaving the boat because you never know if it’s going to release any line, and pretty much ruined the kids first trip of the year. After reading reviews it appears this is an issue on pretty much every one of these Max X reels. I didn’t even think to read reviews first because I just kind of figured “it’s an Abu spincast, how bad could it be?” The answer was bad enough to not be usable

Picked this up at Walmart on the discount rack for occasional catfishing. Does anyone know the reel specs(6000,7000,8000 etc) and how much line it holds? Thanks!!

Need rod suggestions from seasoned anglers

Just got my 3k Exist in from Japan today. Beyond pumped.

Going to be using this for my finesse approaches.

Leaning towards getting the Gary loomis NRX Ned Rig, but wanted to hear from you. I listen to Tacticalbassin a lot and that is making me lean towards the loomis, but really wanna hear from you all any suggestions.

Do you have any favorite rods that you’d reccomend for spinning finesse?

Lemme know! Thanks guys

Anyone ever heard of the Advocate 30 Reel?

Tried to google this reel but absolutely nothing came up. Taking my beginner friend fishing on the weekend and he wants to start getting his own gear.. he already has a good rod and just wants a working reel for it. We primarily only fish for pike..

He found a Quantum Advocate 30 reel on Kijiji.. pictures look decent and he’s set on it. I told him for the same price we could just get a piscifun 3000/4000 reel brand new..

Here’s the picture of the Advocate reel. Thanks!

A bunch of new stuff for this season! And this wasn’t all, there was more 😂😅

A bunch of new gear for this season, and there was more 😂

Daiwa tatula 100 (2023) with a Daiwa Tatula XT glass cranking rod - medium

Shimano Curado (pairing with a Halo HFX) for jigs and Texas rigs

Daiwa Tatula 100 (old model) with a Daiwa Tatula 7’0 medium glass cranking rod

Going to be a great season!

The daiwa and Halo gear is from www.baytacklesupply.ca but the Shimano was a deal I couldn’t pass up at crappy tire!

Should I get a baitcaster? And if so what brand is best?

I'm looking to move on to baitcasters rather than spinning rods. Should I get one? And what should I know about it before I go and buy one.

New set up

I never really spent a lot on my spinning combos but I finally splurged. Lime green has been my favorite color ever since I got the lime green gameboy color. Looks so good on this Daiwa.

Fish tank

So I was gifted a 35 gallon fish tank, I don’t plan on putting any fish in it, but I figured it could be of use to just fill up and drop my lure or soft plastics in to see what the action of them looked like.

So my question is, will it be okay to just leave the water I put in there indefinitely or will it get skunky some how? I have no filter or lid or anything like that. It will be quite heavy and I don’t want to have to empty it and refill it a million times so I plan to just set it and forget it.

Thanks

Is this a good rod?

My buddy was cleaning out all of his grandpa’s old fishing stuff. He knows little about fishing and sold me this rod and reel for $20. I don’t know too much about different rods either but wanna know if this is a good one? What kind of fish would be good to target or what type of fishing would be best? If anyone could tell me more that would be great! (Utah)

Not sure what type of line is on there. It was already there when he sold it to me

It’s a Daiwa D-shock custom. The reel says Field Teq FT-4140 Lb/yards: 10/215•12/160•15/120 Kg/m: 4.54/195•5.44/145•6.8/110

Perch ultra light rod

Are ultra light rods too flimsy for perch if they have an ultra light or light action. I would fish with small jigs and spinners

OBALUS Bait caster Fishing Rod

I keep having these ads pop up on my phone about this OBALUS bait casting rod, and wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of it or used it before. Also any suggestions for a starter bait casting rod?

5pc Toadfish travel rod and Penn Fierce III twitching configuration.

Penn Fierce III on the Toadfish 5pc travel rod, in the twitching configuration. My current favorite combo and my “ALL ALASKA” rod. It does everything including snagging sockeye in the ocean. I carry along another smaller Penn reel and that’s all I need for most situations in Alaska fresh.

Good rod pair with Daiwa fuego spinning reel?

So I’ve decided on a Daiwa fuego 2500 to be my second spinning reel and my second pole, what is a good rod pairing with this? Or should I just get the combo bass pro currently has? Honestly I think I’ve seen some Daiwa fuego stand-alone rods that are cheaper than buying the combo but any input is great. Thanks!
