Still not happy with the deer hair head.
I’d like to start tying with some coloured UV resins, but Solarez and Loon look pretty expensive per bottle. I’m wondering if anyone found a different brand on Amazon that works well, or have come up with a method for dying clear resin.
Has anyone had success with a cheaper brand?
Had anyone tried both Solarez and Loon and can say which is better?
I usually tie these in size 14-20 with different dubbings- they’re simple, quick to tie and effective. They sit low in the water and I usually pick off fish that were a little shy of high floating dries.
Clumpy in spots but she’ll fish
Tried EP fibers again a bit better this time but not good, the transition to blue was pretty shitty. But I at least found the problem.
So I only been tying for 4 months or so. I tied up these flys this week and was out fishing with the top one today. After catching a couple fish with it I noticed the dubbing coming off/loose.
Is there a way to fix that? More dubbing? Longer stretches of thinner dubbing so I get more wraps? Just a product of catching fish with it?
Hey there unfortunately due to a layoff I need to move back to NJ from Pennsylvania so I'll be switching gears from fresh trout to saltwater fishing exclusively so I need to unload a ton of unopened never used fly tying materials shoot e a dm if you'd like the list I want to sell it all in one transaction.
In my first ever post here, someone suggested I tie this pattern and I think it came out pretty good, I’m even getting the posts down a little more efficiently it seems. This community has been really cool so far thanks for all the encouraging words and suggestions. I’m stoked!
Pretty happy how this one came out
The man, the myth, the legend. His contributions to this hobby+art are incalculable. His Pop Fleyes book opened my eyes (along with so many others) to a new world of possibilities.
Figured I would post here for anyone who hadn't heard the sad news.
Anyone else have a problem with brushes splaying in the bottle? Its frustrating as it makes it almost unusable
