I want a MH baitcasting combo in which I can chuck normally heavier baits that I can with my Medium spinning rod that i Just use for everything, would this be a good choice?
Hey y’all! My boyfriend loves bass fishing and while I do like going with him I’ve always fished off of the coast vs ponds.
So he uses completely different stuff for fishing than I regularly have used. Anyone have any gifts they’d love to receive?
I’ve thought about a scale and maybe a chair with a cooler attached but I don’t know.
Thanks y’all!!!
please respond with smaller/similar if you have them! got him on a rooster tail
New to bass fishing….is this rod too short for bass fishing in ponds and lakes? Will mostly be fishing land and grass. No kayak. Should I get a 7” Foot?
Ask and you shall receive! It’s almost like this bass was listening, way too many bites seem to happen on cue.

My favorite technique and my new favorite brand :)
My brother’s biggest bass of the year caught in my boat while anchored down playing with some catfish that were on a channel ledge.
I did check rules mods it says links are allowed if I contributing to this subreddit in other ways.
I've been fishing more over the past couple years in colder weather months (Dec - Mar) here in Virginia and I'm looking for recommendations on quality overalls/bibs to keep me warm and dry.
As for my specific needs, I always fish out of my small 16ft bass boat and so id like to maintain some range movement as I step on and off the front and back decks of the boat. I also fish in temperatures as cold as the low 20s.
I've been leaning towards picking up one of the "level 3 warmth rating" carhartt overalls/bibs but I've been a little unsure on which ones to pick. I'm also open to other brands though!
Id really appreciate any recommendations from fellow bass anglers! Thanks in advance for your help!
My local water Temps are down in the low 40s or even the upper 30s.
I'm not sure if this is a hybrid or not I see some very slight breakage of the stripes but I'm not sure
I’m assuming bigger bass will be hanging around when bluegill spawn but I’m not really sure. Should i be fishing around bluegill beds in hopes of catching larger bass?
It seems like it would be good environment. Plenty of depth with washouts. But then again, I’m still learning.
So guys and gals
I have this rod rated from 3/8th to 1 OZ. Great Rod love it. But I have a 1.5 OZ glide I want to throw. I really want to use it but I was told my the guy who makes my rods to just lob cast since I risk snapping the rod. Should I cough up the 250 for a rod that can handle it or do I say F it and just carefully cast the glide.
(The glide…well swimbait is a gimikin from madotachi…if you don’t know that real sauce chat).
Recently I’ve been watching and reading a ton of educational bass fishing videos and threads and articles and I’ve noticed that maybe 99% of the material (with the exception of stuff that is geared towards beginners) is geared towards guys on boats, does anyone have any tips on a YouTube channel or website that has in-depth advice targeted towards bank fishermen?
What will these catch? Is the hook way too small for bass?
I love how soft they are, and they last forever, but rigging them is a pita. The screwheads or whatever they are called (they look like a tiny corkscrew) will hold ZMan baits fine, but I can't get them to go on to save my life! School me in different ways of holding this stuff on the hooks.
Now I'll share my favorite one...I tried and loved the micro GOAT this year. The smoke purple was on fire here in N.E. Ohio. I rigged it with a 3/32 Oz tungsten worm weight NOT PEGGED and used a #2 ewg hook. Not a 2/0, but a #2. They are small. Buy a bag of size "0000" viton o-rings and some super glue, (I used gel).
Put the weight on the line, tie the hook on and do the first half of a Texas Rig with the bait; in the nose, out the bottom. Next, slide the o-ring onto the hook point and run it about halfway up the shank. Finish the Texas Rig; up through the belly, out the top, and skin hook the point....a normal Texas Rig. Get your super glue out and put a drop or dollop or whatever you call it on the hook shank right where the hook comes from the chin of the bait, and then slide the o-ring up over the glue and up against the chin of the bait. The 0000 o-ring fits tight enough to stretch just a tad, scraping the super glue up the hook and onto the bait. This glues the o-ring to the hook and bait, and the hook to the bait. Cast it out, let the weight fall to the bottom and mind numbingly slow crank the handle. I do this on a rocky bottom. No other action is needed. Since the weight isn't pegged, it goes through the rocks, and falls a little. Since the Z-Man baits float, the GOAT will want to rise claw first like a crawdad in a defensive posture as it crawls away. Bass smoke it!
When the fall bite is on, it’s ON. Some of the most fun to have fishing, but if the conditions aren’t right it can be miserable. Thankfully when you’re fishing with your buddies it can make some tough fishing not feel so tough 😂
New video just dropped on my YouTube channel! Check it out 🤘🏼

I never catch these things at my local river. I put it back very shortly after. Choked my inline spinner.
i have recently thought about buying a cheap magnet off of amazon and taking it to my local lake and trying to get lures. is this smart? is it ethical? will i find a decent amount? will it be cheaper then buying the lures since i will probably have to spend 30 bucks for a magnet and then buy new hooks and circle rings for car keys but for fishing.
I fish on a small 5 acre lake that has hybrid bass according to two guys that have caught them via the Fishbrain app and I want to attempt to catch one to add to my species list.
I asked both guys on the app what they used and no responses. The only forage in the lake would be bluegill and crappie based off what I have caught. I have a wishing book that mentions to look for top water action, but I think that’s more applicable to larger bodies of water that can sustain schools of small baitfish like shad as forage.
Also I’m in the southeast and it’s getting pretty cold. Are hybrids still fairly active during the winter?
I’ve been fishing more and more with jig heads and soft plastic swim baits. I really enjoy them but find myself grabbing weeds or getting snagged.
Is there a way to rig a normally exposed hook jig head weedless? For example the nlbn jig head in the pic.
Ive been able to get it weedless with the zman Texas eye jig head, but that’s designed to be rigged that way.
This might be a dumb question but I’ve been searching and can’t find an answer. Thanks for the help!
TLDR: is there a way to rig an exposed hook jig head, weedless?
Im getting a new baitcaster soon and am trying to decide between straight fluoro or braid main line. I see a lot of conflicting arguments out there but since I’ll be using it to fish mainly cranks, spinners and swim baits (no soft plastics on this setup), which should I go with?
Thank you in advance!
