    /r/LonghornNation Reverse Sheep 2024 - Week 6

    #Week 6 Questions

    #The /r/LonghornNation Reverse Sheep 2024 Scoresheet

Please double-check your score. Report any errors you find as soon as possible. You can report them either in the comments or via PM.

    Week | Participants | Average | Median | Max :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: 1 | 22 | 24.6 | 23.5 | 52 2 | 24 | 28.5 | 26.5 | 63 3 | 23 | 29.0 | 27 | 52 4 | 22 | 29.7 | 29.5 | 55 5 | 21 | 31.7 | 28 | 52

With 21 players, the top 10% was limited to the top three scores.

    #Week 5 Champions of Life

    • Gold: /u/jcarter1632 (18)
    • Silver: /u/yuiandme (20)
    • Bronze: /u/Babalamine14, /u/ElChibo808 (25)

    13 total aces this week!

#I missed previous weeks! Can I still play? Absolutely! While season-long standings are maintained, you can earn a berth to the bowl season edition by placing in the top 10% of any individual week, regardless of prior or future participation. Whenever you miss a week, your score for the season-long standings will tally as if you answered each question incorrectly.

#What is Reverse Sheep? Reverse Sheep is a futures prediction game where the goal is to come up with answers that are both correct and unique. Each week features five questions about players, teams, point totals, and anything else I cook up.

Think of Reverse Sheep like the opposite of Family Feud. In Family Feud, you would want to be a "sheep" and follow the crowd, identifying the most popular answer. Reverse Sheep is the opposite: You want to give the least popular answer that is still correct. If you provide a correct answer, you score points equal to how many people guessed your answer. If your answer is incorrect, your score is the sum of the number of people who guessed the most popular answer PLUS the total number of unique correct answers given. Lowest score wins.

#I'm confused. How about an example? Sure. Let's say one of the questions is: "Name an FBS running back who will rush for 125+ yards this week." Imagine 40 people are playing, and their answers break down like this, with the number of yards that player actually winds up rushing for in [brackets].

    • Ja'Quinden Jackson (13 respondents) [168 rushing yards]
    • Logan Diggs (10) [105]
    • Montrell Johnson Jr. (7) [133]
    • Trevor Etienne (3) [26]
    • Jarquez Hunter (2) [126]
    • Dylan Sampson (2) [190]
    • Raheim Sanders (1) [65]
    • Marcus Carroll (1) [49]
    • Nate Noel (1) [159]

Everyone who picked a running back that eclipsed 125 yards scores points equal to how many guessed their answer. So the thirteen JQJ pickers get 13 points, the seven Johnson pickers get 7, the two Hunter pickers and the two Sampson pickers get 2, and the sole person who picked Nate Noel gets 1 point, an ace. An ace is the best possible outcome as it means you were the only person to pick a particular correct answer.

Everyone else who picked incorrectly is tagged with 18 points. That's the number of the most popular pick (13) plus the number of correct responses given (5). Again, you are trying for the lowest score possible.

#Bonuses Throughout the course of the season, you'll be able to earn bonuses for top performances. A bonus will allow you to give two responses to a question in the postseason, giving you two chances at a correct answer (if both answers are correct, the lower score will count). Here's how to earn one:

    • Placing in the top 3 (not 3%) of a week
    • Placing in the top 10 (not 10%) of the season-long standings
    • Placing in the top 10% for three or more consecutive weeks (streaks cannot overlap; so 1-3 and 4-6 would count as two streaks, but 1-3 and 2-4 would not)
    • Picking two or more Aces in a single week
    • Finish in the top 3 of Aces for the season (3+ aces required to qualify)
    • Longest streak of top 10% finishes
    • Participate every week

There is no limit to the number of bonuses that may be earned.

    #How do I win?

There are two ways in which you can qualify for the postseason, which will be the bowl season. You need to either finish in the top 10% of players for any one week, or make the top 10% of scores across the entire season. Anyone who misses a week will be charged the highest score of the week, as if they picked every question incorrectly. Even players who don't discover the game until later in the season can still play and qualify for the postseason without disrupting the season-long standings. However you qualify, there will be a Bowl Season edition, and the winner of that will be crowned the Reverse Sheep champion. All scores will be reset to 0 for the Bowl Season.

Note that the top 10% is a hard cutoff, rounded to the nearest whole number. If 227 people play (23 playoff spots awarded) but 8 of the top 23 have already earned playoff berths, then only 15 new postseason berths would be earned that week. In case of a tie, all players tied for the last spot would get a postseason berth.

    #What do I win?

Until William figures out how to turn this mod team into a bunch of corporate advertising shills, this place is a pretty barebones operation. With that in mind, I'll still donate to a charity of your choosing if you finish in one of the following positions.

    • 1st Place Regular Season - $25
    • 2nd Place Regular Season - $15
    • 3rd Place Regular Season - $10
    • 1st Place Bowl Season - $25

#Okay, so where are the questions?

Well, I linked them at the top of this thread as well, but you can find the question form for Week 6 RIGHT HERE.

REMINDER: The only games that will be counted are those featuring SEC teams! This will be the plan moving forward through the rest of the season! Please only pick from the games listed at the top of the answer forms!

Answers for Week 6 are due by 9 AM CT on Saturday, October 5th. If you intend to answer any questions with players/teams playing in any weekday games, those answers must be submitted by kickoff of the relevant games, otherwise they will be marked incorrect.

My friends and I are partial to “Make ‘em eat shit,” however I know that was originally a dig at Arky. We’ll usually go with “OU sucks” if there’s kids around though.

Longhorn Express shuttle from intramural fields

Just wanted to share some information about the football shuttle. It has been completely ambiguous as to whether there were Longhorn Express shuttles running from the IM fields for many years now because there doesn't seem to be any advertising for the service. Yesterday I showed up to the IM fields and there are shuttle buses running to the game from that location. They were incredibly underutilized and I assume that's because no one can find any solid evidence online that they are running. In fact, yesterday they were free (although the driver said the previous game they were charging the normal $10 / person). But again, there was almost no one on my bus and the driver said his previous trip was about 5 people.

I have no idea if it's still called the Longhorn Express, I have no idea who runs it, and I have no idea what the future holds for the service, but I do know that they've been running for at least two games this season from the normal spot. (Note that the drop-off / pickup location at campus is just a little different, and also the driver said that there was no service running from Barton Creek as there had been in the past.)

So, if you like this service I recommend showing up and taking advantage of it so hopefully it will continue. It is a little risky as it seems there is no guarantee of service, but if they are not there you can still park there and walk just a little distance down Guadalupe and catch the 1 or 801 on CapMetro and it will take you to the West Mall / Co-op stop for ~2.50 each way. Not nearly as good, but a decent backup plan.

EDIT 9/29/2024: u/christaz0923 has provided links to 2 websites that a) appear to imply that the shuttle will run all football season, b) that the shuttle will be free for people paying to park, and c) that paying to park is required. A big thanks for finding that information as I think people can much more confidently rely on this shuttle going forward.
Link 1 (look under the last expandable section "RV & Bus Parking"): UT PTS Football Parking Page

UT will provide FREE round trip shuttle service from across Guadalupe St. at the UT Athletics Fields to DKR Memorial Stadium

Link 2 (look under the "RV and oversize vehicle parking" subheading): Texas Facilities Commission

Paid roundtrip shuttle service will be provided to and from the stadium 2 hours prior until 1 hour after gametime.

Thank you for a great experience!

I wanted to thank all the Texas fans for a wonderful experience in Austin this weekend as a new fan of this team. I recently took an online class through UT as a Montana resident and enjoyed it so much that we decided to take a trip to Austin for a football game. We were met with friendly people throughout the entire experience. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being so kind and welcoming to us. I hope to get back down for another game soon. Thank you and Go Horns!

    /r/LonghornNation Reverse Sheep 2024 - Week 5

    #Week 5 Questions

    #The /r/LonghornNation Reverse Sheep 2024 Scoresheet

Please double-check your score. Report any errors you find as soon as possible. You can report them either in the comments or via PM.

    Week | Participants | Average | Median | Max :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: | :-: 1 | 22 | 24.6 | 23.5 | 52 2 | 24 | 28.5 | 26.5 | 63 3 | 23 | 29.0 | 27 | 52 4 | 22 | 29.7 | 29.5 | 55

With 22 players, the top 10% was limited to the top three scores.

    #Week 4 Champions of Life

    • Gold: /u/onlyinmemes100 (16)
    • Silver: /u/Babalamine14 (18)
    • Bronze: /u/TokenWhiteGuy_, /u/yuiandme (19)

    11 total aces this week!

Well, I linked them at the top of this thread as well, but you can find the question form for Week 5 RIGHT HERE.

REMINDER: The only games that will be counted are those featuring SEC teams! This will be the plan moving forward through the rest of the season! Please only pick from the games listed at the top of the answer forms!

Answers for Week 5 are due by 11 AM CT on Saturday, September 28th. If you intend to answer any questions with players/teams playing in any weekday games, those answers must be submitted by kickoff of the relevant games, otherwise they will be marked incorrect.
