Have any of y'all seen him play, and if so, what did you think? If y'all are unfamiliar, here's his 247 Profile.
This isn't normally something I'd ask, but Elijah Haven is the #1 ranked high school player in the country for the 2027 class and he's already being recruited to LSU, Auburn, Florida, Miami, and Ole Miss. His 247 profile doesn't say it, but I listened to a Matt Moscona podcast he was interviewed on and he mentioned that he was on an unofficial visit to Alabama during the Bama/Georgia game. He said that he grew up a fan of LSU.
It's interesting since the last few great LSU QB's have come from across the country, and we have a #1 QB prospect out of Baton Rouge. Burrow (Ohio), Jayden (California), and Underwood (Michigan) are from far away lands; but the exceptions to this trend are in our current QB room with Nussmeier (Lake Charles) and Rickie Collins (Baton Rouge). I'm used to LSU recruiting talent in-state with WR's, RB's, DB's, and other positions, but it looks like the scouting and recruiting philosophy of QB's is shifting toward in-state talent, too.
We’re early in the season, and this ranking is based upon PPR fantasy scoring so obviously just a measure of yards accrued instead of actual talent, but having 3 LSU WR’s in the top 5 wild. If Malik ends this season in the top 10, I think we solidify our claim as WRU, which feels insane to me after YEARS of telling everyone we’re DBU.
I write a newsletter called SEC Stories, and I thought this group might enjoy the story of The Bluegrass Miracle.
Anyone know the story of The Bluegrass Miracle?
College football is known for its jaw-dropping, heart-stopping moments, and today we’re taking a trip back to November 9, 2002, for one of the craziest endings in SEC history: The Bluegrass Miracle.
This is the story of how LSU snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in a game against Kentucky that seemed all but over.
It’s a moment that left one team devastated and the other in shock. Buckle up, because this one’s a wild ride.
😮 The Setup: Kentucky’s Big Moment
On that chilly afternoon in Lexington, the Kentucky Wildcats were desperate for a signature win.
They hadn’t beaten LSU since 1999, and this was their chance to make a statement. For most of the game, it looked like Kentucky was going to do just that.
With seconds left on the clock, Kentucky led LSU 30-27.
Their fans were already celebrating, players were hugging on the sidelines, and head coach Guy Morriss was drenched in Gatorade.
The Wildcats were ready to party—but the football gods had other plans.
🔥 The Miracle Play
With just 2 seconds left on the clock, LSU had one last play from their own 25-yard line.
The situation was desperate, and hope was slim.
LSU’s quarterback Marcus Randall took the snap and launched a Hail Mary pass deep downfield.
As the ball sailed through the air, Kentucky fans held their breath. Surely, it wouldn’t land, right
Wrong.
The ball came down at the Kentucky 15-yard line, where it bounced off a defender’s helmet and into the hands of Devery Henderson, who caught it in stride and ran untouched into the end zone.
Touchdown, LSU!
The Wildcats' dream victory had just turned into a nightmare in a matter of seconds.
Final score: LSU 33, Kentucky 30.
🏃♂️ Chaos on the Field
What makes the Bluegrass Miracle even more unforgettable is the chaotic scene that followed.
As Henderson sprinted into the end zone, Kentucky fans were already storming the field, thinking they had won.
The Gatorade-drenched Coach Morriss stood in disbelief as LSU celebrated a victory that no one saw coming.
The moment became legendary not just because of the play, but because of the emotional rollercoaster for both teams.
LSU fans were ecstatic, while Kentucky fans went from elation to devastation in the blink of an eye.
🎉 The Aftermath
For LSU, the Bluegrass Miracle became an iconic chapter in the history of their football program.
It was the kind of play that you could watch a thousand times and still not believe.
For Kentucky, it was a heartbreaker that would be talked about for years. That one play turned what could have been a signature win into one of the most gut-wrenching losses in SEC history.
And Henderson? He became a legend in Baton Rouge. That catch catapulted him into LSU lore, and to this day, it’s one of the most replayed moments in SEC highlight reels.

I am an outsider but saw him turn a joke Notre Dame team into a 10 win perennial winner. His winning percentage of ,739 was much better than Charlie Weis(.565) and the other 2 suspect coaches there (.583 winning percentage) He never once had a championship caliber team and had to go against juggernaut Clemson and Alabama teams. imho he overachieved wherever he went and had to run into juggernaut teams where yes he lost. To turn Notre Dame back into a contender after years of mostly piss poor play was outstanding. He has the most active wins in college football. He was at the doorstep of an LSU college football playoff birth with 40 scholarship players and developed two NFL superstars last year in Daniels and Nabers? I have never seen him not take the job seriously and always brings it every week? He has fire and passion and wants to win. I have never seen him act like hes in it for a paycheck. He wants to win more than even the fan base. The hatred for Kelly seems despicable. What am I missing? Who in Gods name are you going to get that is better than Brian Kelly? Is Nick Saban coming out of retirement? Are you guys on drugs in the Bayou?
Long story short, I met some German guys at the Chiefs game in Frankfurt last year and they're coming to a Chiefs game in the states. They were going to be in NOLA for the weekend and I told them about LSU-Ole Miss and they bought tickets.
What do I need to tell them how to have the best experience. I told them how LSU is one of the best collegiate environments. I'd love for them to get the full LSU experience.
Hi All…there is a group of 5…we go do annual college football weekend somewhere different every year. We are go to the Bama game. We are staying in NOLA…any recommendations on transportation? Also any recommendations for pregame? Is the any specific place we should go in BR before the game? This is our 10th year
Would the vandy game be worth it do y’all think i would get the real feel of tiger stadium and the tailgates Or would it be worth it if i came down bama weekend without a ticket im in my 20s so not having a ticket for that game wouldn’t be the biggest of deals i just want to be in the festivities and have a good time and visit Louisiana
Sorry for the basic question, but I’m genuinely curious. My family is generations deep into LSU and southern Louisiana, and I’ve always had the impression that Ole Miss was probably our biggest rival. Bama has always also been a big one though (obv especially post Saban). And now we kind of have that team out west in college station that is always a fun one. So help me settle this question that came up on a recent date at Coffee Call. What do y’all think?
I am coming down to LSU with a large group for the Bama game and we already purchased our tickets back in July through SeatGeek. The tickets say confirmed in my SeatGeek account and state that the tickets won’t be delivered until 24-48 hours before the game. I am wondering if this is standard for all LSU home games or if tickets usually are transferred sooner. I would imagine the season ticket holder who we purchased from has already received their mobile tickets from LSU.
Just trying to see if this is anything to worry about or typical procedure. Don’t want to be on the phone with SeatGeek the day before the game trying to find 20 tickets. Any insight on the SeatGeek ticket process would be great!
Looking for a parking pass for the game.
Group of 3 coming down from Canada and looking for some advice/recommendations for LSU vs. Alabama on November 9th.
Where do you recommend for seating if we would like to be with other tiger fans (section, rows)?
We dont know anyone but would like to have the full experience tailgating and other traditions. How do we get invited to others tailgates?
Chances LSU vs. Alabama is a night game?
Any other recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated as we are excited for this experience. Thank you!
Longtime season ticket holder.
I have 2 Tickets FS SEC 214 for Ole Miss and 4 Tickets FS SEC 214 for Alabama.
Anyone know where BB got his hoodie?? This is the best pic I can find, but I don’t see it anywhere online. Thinking maybe had the sailor Mike logo stitched on
There is 3 of us (2 guys & a girl) that have tickets to the LSU vs Ole Miss game. I was just wondering if there’s any parties that would have us the night before? And then recommendations for game day of places to go before/after. Cheers 🍻
Let’s not act like this game is gonna be easy after ole miss lost this game is still gonna be one of our toughest games but I do think lsu has a real shot especially playing at home and getting a bye week. Ole miss has a few more tough games so they can’t afford to lose so we’re gonna get there best punch
