Dads first Auburn Game

I’m gonna bring my dad to Jordan-Hare for his first Auburn football game VS ULM Nov. 16. He’s been a fan since the Bo Jackson era and has just never been. What are some things we can do to make the experience worth the drive for him (it’s a 6.5 hour drive and he HATES going out of town lol) do you all tailgate anywhere? And where are some places we can park to be kind of central around everything? Thanks in advance!!

Peyton Thorne explains that play. “Quite honestly, if I had that play over 10 times, I probably would have done the same thing 10 times out of 10…”

Thorne is about average for Freeze Qbs *so far*

disclaimer: I don't really intend to make this a "fire/keep freeze" thread. There's plenty of others for that.

Curiously, i looked up how quarterbacks have performed under freeze to see where Thorne's season lines up since we can mostly agree, it hasn't felt great. I was surprised to see that if you take his 4 games he's played in and spread it out to 12 games it lines up right about where it would be about what's expected for other quarterbacks freeze has coached (yes I know it isn't a perfect method and arky was a half-game but it's what we've got to work with and I don't feel like doing the extra math. It's a rough estimate). Malik was also more of a dual threat so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We also probably just finished the easiest stretch in our schedule and bo and malik's stats are for 13 games, but I still find it interesting to see. It will tell a lot more when we get through the next 4 weeks as far as where we stand, but both bo Wallace and Malik Willis won 9 and 8 games with that kind of performance (asterisk on Malik for schedule difference here, take it however you want or ignore it idc)

*Stats from sports-reference and disclaimer I don't fully understand how QB rate is calculated

Tldr: I'm bored at the end of the work day and it could and probably does mean nothing but Thorne doesn't look that much worse on paper than other guys freeze has coached. Hate him/like him, say he is or isn't the guy, whatever. It seems to be what we've got right now

I’ve figured out how to fix it

Hey everyone. I just came here to say that I’m the inside sales manager at United Equipment Rentals and I’m only 34 years old. Given my meteoric rise to power and my rapid ability to quickly assess and diagnose problems I wanted to let y’all know I’ve figured out a solution to all of Auburn’s issues. Also, I won $450 two years ago in the Fantasy football league I’m in with the guys I met at my friends bachelor party so listen up.

The coach is an idiot and he totally sucks. Fire him and get a better coach. There are a million of them available and they always want to come to Auburn so that part will be simple. Also, Thorne sucks. Bench him and let Hank Brown play. If he sucks then I bet Geriner could be the answer we are looking for. Then when he sucks we could bench him and burn Walker White’s redshirt. That way we will beat Georgia, Bama, Uk on the road, and A&M. Hugh Freeze should be able to figure this out. He makes a million dollars but personally I don’t think he has what it takes to be an inside salesman for my team at Wetumpka United Rentals. Maybe they should hire me. Given my expertise on all subjects I would be amazing. Moneys not an issue for me either. I make close to six figures. Five to be exact. Because I wouldn’t hire him. And if I did, I’d fire him. Because I expect excellence out of everyone and I get it. Why don’t you ask those dipshits at the United Rentals in Phoenix City? They’ll tell you. We beat there ass at equipment rentals for the Tennessee plains valley franchisee district. Assholes.

So stop by and see me at the Wetumpka United Rentals at exit 181.

I Am Sick Of the Whining

Over it. I was extremely impressed with how well this offense played against one of the toughest defenses in the nation. Including Thorn. He threw for 3 tds and I think ( without checking) close to 400 yards. He had ONE pick, yes, at the worst possible moment. If he had not thrown that ONE pick, everyone would be singing his praises.

You don’t like picks? This is modern college ball. Georgias qb threw several picks in that game against GA. EVERY qb throws picks with pass heavy offenses now, which everyone runs. You HOPE you have a defense that will not allow points after them. Guess what? Our defense blew it at the most crucial time

I have learned this week almost every Auburn podcaster, at least the ones I listened too, are football illiterate and most of the fan base is worse. EVERYONE ragging on this offense or Thorne, or even worse, calling for Freeze to be fired, are absolute idiots. This offense is statistically one of the best in the country. We get a lot of yards per play. We usually dominate the time of possession, even against great defenses like Oklahoma. The ONLY problems with this offense are turnovers, and young freshmen making freshmen mistakes. Running the wrong routes. Not turning their heads up look for the ball, just panicking and missing etc

I want to reiterate again Oklahoma is statistically one of the best defenses in the nation , and we came VERY close to beating them. Our DEFENSE, and our field goal kicker, NOT our offense, is why we didn’t.

Now let’s talk about that defense everyone is praising….

Oklahoma offense was very far from full strength. No starting wide receivers, freshman qb, they were crippled. THIS was a team our defense should have picked apart: and a few like Riddick did great, however , WHEN IT MATTERED this defense continues to give up big chunk plays. They continue to not pick up coverage or bust routes, they continue to NOT GET THEIR HEADS turned around and get PI calls. WTF? You want to be mad at a coach be mad at Durkin

Look, this offense is good. Our fans need to look at the stats and realize MAYBE they don’t know as much as they think they do. Yes, we have an average QB that def blew it against Cal no doubt. But he balled out against one of the toughest defenses in the nation and threw ONE pick. Our defense then proceeded to give the offense no help after that pick 6, something that is becoming a trend

Everyone needs to get better, no question. But modern college quarterbacks throw interceptions, they all do. Every single one

What I do not see anyone saying is how throwing just one interception against a defense like Oklahomas is pretty damn good

It’s up to our DEFENSE to step up

[Armchair Analyst Monday] - September 30, 2024

Now that you've had 48 hours to digest both the alcohol and the events of the past weekend, how are you feeling about both last week and the upcoming week? Discussion and analysis about both the previous weeks SEC games as well as upcoming games. Are our in-conference foes looking better than expected? Worse? What did the past weekend do to your confidence in our future matchups?

Auburn 2020 record with a normal schedule

Alcorn State -win

North Carolina- Loss

Ole Miss- win

Southern Miss- win

Kentucky- Win

Georgia- Loss

Texas A&M- Loss

Miss State- Win

Arkansas - win

Umass- Win

LSU- win

Alabama- Loss

So the team would have ended up 8-4 or even 9-3 if they beat North Carolina. Still worth firing gus?

One of the most successful coaches we have ever had and regularly gets dragged on this sub. He wasn’t perfect but he damn sure wouldn’t have let this current shit show happen.

I would kill for FieldGus rn.

Guy absolutely loved field goals. Used to bother me so much when we couldn’t get TD’s on great drives.

Freeze moves the ball & his brain just disintegrates.

Also, any update on McPherson? I’d take his leg even if he’s shittin his pants in the process. Townes has the yips.
