No post season for either team. The buckeyes and Michigan should miss out too and that’s a spot in the playoffs for us!
Call me Nostradamus
been to Cherokee a bunch, but I don’t know if they have ‘make/miss cfp’ odds and not just ‘win cfp’ odds. anyone in a legal sports book state would help immensely
Should we start calling it Shanevember? Beamerbember? The one trait of his Gamecock teams is that they get better each year. It used to be called Orange Crush but now, not so much.
Couple of thoughts:
Shout out to those guys for helping keep this defense together, and add to it and the offense through making finances work in recruiting and the portal.
If you're in a financial position to do so, this feeling you have right now after a 9-3 regular season where we have a coin flip's chance of making it into the CFP, keep it alive by contributing to the Garnet Trust. I have no affiliation with them outside of a $10 a month donation. But, national signing day is upon us. The transfer window is upon us. Help give Beamer the ammunition he needs to cook!
And if you're hesitant like I was and have thoughts of my "$10 isn't going to change anything" or "I shouldn't have to fund these kids"... every little bit helps and not giving won't change what college football has become. And while we may never have the money the blue bloods have, Beamer has shown time and time again that his teams (aside from last year) can outperform expectations if he's able to bring in guys he feels fit the culture.
I’m quite aware that pretty much every year every team has the one game that if called differently could’ve been a win.
However, I think in our case the LSU game was quite literally stolen from us. The officials completely screwed the Gamecocks multiple times, but most egregiously by calling back a pick-6 for a textbook legal block in the 4th quarter. That score would’ve put us ahead by 11 with around 5 minutes left in the game.
Sure, there are bad calls every game. It’s “part of the game” they say. But this is different than whining because it’s not even debatable whether the call was good or bad. It was objectively 100% a misapplication of the rules of the game, and it directly affected the score.
This isn’t about how the officials saw it - they saw it correctly, and they still made the wrong call.
It was agreed-upon that this block (the penalty) occurred after the interception. LSU’s QB was moving toward the ball as a defensive player when he was blocked. They couldn’t call roughing the QB, bc possession had already changed, so they called unnecessary roughness.
But here’s the thing… the block was clean & legal. It was a block using average force without doing anything that would inherently be a foul. It was called bc the block was delivered to a player who plays the QB position, despite him no longer being a QB at the time contact was made. Honestly I wonder if the flag would’ve even been thrown at all had it not been for Kennard putting his hands up after the block. It made him look guilty despite delivering a clean block.
Plain and simple, if the refs call that game correctly, USC is 10-2. That’s a fact, not an opinion. So, despite what it shows in the record books, USC actually won 10 games & only lost 2. And if we’re 10-2, we’re clearly getting an at-large bid to the playoff. Do we think there’s any chance this gets taken into consideration by CFP voters?
We obviously will move above clemshit. Bama and Ol'miss had lackluster wins over lackluster teams. I project we at the very least get to 12. So with the other 2 losses above us today, do we move any further up? No way we move above the buckeyes, but does anyone think we may get the nod over Miami?
I get my decision back on the 15th.. I’m so nervous my dream school has been Carolina since I was little. I have a 3.5 w but at a VERY competitive and challenging high school. I’m OOS, legacy, 1280 sat, 27 ACT, qualify for in state tuition (not admission), volunteering in SC, unique essay, key club, personal business and part time job, 2APS. Public health major. I got deferred to auburn which is 39% acceptance, so I should get in here right?
If the committee can take into account injured players to keep a team out of the playoffs entirely they should be able to look back at the travesty that was the LSU game and see we should have won by two scores stolen by horrific officiating. It’s almost universally agreed upon that we were robbed by the 12th man in stripes and if we do miss out we should really spearhead efforts on forcing changes to fix how bad it has been.
don’t know if most of you might already know about this channel, but I love watching it so thought I’d share. He puts the radio call with the game.
Here are my thoughts on our current situation - the championship games don’t matter. We have to hope that they favor us against Bama and Miami.
If they’re ranking teams based on current top 12 teams, we 100% should be in. If they’re considering a H2H game from 6 weeks ago that was decided by a muffed FG and 2 points, then Bama is in.
If Miami makes it in then the committee doesn’t actually watch games and only base their rankings off of records.
I’d give us a hearty 15% chance of making it… Go Cocks.
I know everyone is ecstatic with our FB win (as am I ) but can we show some love for the WBB, they absolutely curbstomped Purdue today 99-51.
Just last week, Bama had one of the worst losses in the entire SEC against a mediocre Oklahoma team. They didn’t even score a TD. That enough would eliminate any other team. They also had a close game against a mediocre Auburn team today.
Ole miss lost to a mediocre Florida team last week. They squeaked by Mississippi state yesterday.
These are RECENT losses. Playoff teams have strong finishes to a season. Not their worst games.
South Carolina is arguably the hottest team in the country right now with ANOTHER strong win.
Who cares that bama beat us by 2 points 2 months ago? Ole miss blew us out but that was also a long time ago. Both teams are completely different now.
Personally, I think our win over Clemson is more impressive than ole miss’s win against Mississippi state.
I didn’t watch the show but I’ve read the ESPN Gameday crew did NOT include the SC - Clemson game among those for which they offered picks. Is there any reason for this omission? Do they sometimes exclude games between ranked teams such as ours?
Suck it Taters🖕🏽
Bama doesn’t make it in. If we’re going to let in a 3 loss SEC team, it has to be Carolina or ole Miss, or none of them make it in.
Head to head win is an argument I know, but a 2 point win at home should easily be negated by how Carolina performed against mutual opponents, PARTICULARLY Oklahoma.
I was pissed when the rankings came out 13 bama 14 ole miss 15 Carolina. I truly felt it should have been 13 ole miss 14 Carolina 15 bama. I would buy ole miss getting in over Carolina given their resume, but absolutely not with Alabama.
I think it’s completely justified to leave all the 3 loss sec teams out, and I won’t be mad if that’s the case UNLESS bama gets in there. That would be a crime against everyone
Some of the whining and cope over at the Clemson subs is A-tier and delicious… just if tiger tears make the win that much sweeter… sorry to be like this but it just makes it so much more salty and spicy and delicious!
We’re jumping ole miss and bama. H2H doesnt matter when they were months ago. They’re both coming off unranked losses last week. Bama’s was shockingly bad.
They both had close games with bad teams today. Meanwhile, we’re the hottest team in the country with a top 15 win.
Clemson split up the Carolina Band and make part of the band sit in the upper deck. This is outrageous. I say next year we repay the favor…
For shits and gigs, let's hear it.
.....and go Cocks baby!!!!!
