Ole Miss has a 97.4% acceptance rate. I promise you are most likely ok as long as you don’t have below a 1.0.
That being said many scholarships are kept through gpa and hours a semester. If money is an issue that you’re concerned about and you don’t have the gpa please consider community college. More info about scholarships look up ole Miss scholarships and it will be the first search.
Wear the colors for the game and look lost while your in the grove. People here are kind especially to people who haven’t ever been here before. Many people will welcome you and it wouldn’t hurt to offer some kind of alcohol!
There are tons of Facebook pages for Oxford for this exact scenario. I highly recommend that you look there. Sometimes there’s also people here that post about subleases.
If it’s game day then go to the grove obviously, but there are some fun stuff to do elsewhere. The square is another obvious one and there are many bars to pick from but the cover is going to be really high especially on game days. Whatever you’re thinking double it.
There’s also rowan oak, William Faulkners house, if you’re into literature/history. There’s tons of other cool history stuff right on campus as well.
Restaurants:
I really like bourre if you’re looking for something fancier. There’s also the graduate and Oxford grill house.
If you want something more casual I would recommend south depot, noodle bowl, maharaja Indian cuisine, or circle and square.
There’s also PLENTY of fast food places.
These are just the few questions that I see nearly every day on this sub and I thought it might be nice to have a post to direct them to rather than seeing the same four posts every time I open the app. Let me know if I got anything wrong or if there’s anything to add! Hotty toddy!
If anybody is looking to sublease in Oxford Mississippi message. I'm about to graduate and move back home. Rent is decent for Oxford and roommates are quiet.
Ok I'm applying out of state ole miss is one of my top choices. I'm currently a junior with a 3.4 weighted gpa, 3 varsity sports, 1 club (my friend created it im there for support) and 5 aps. If my gpa went down to a 3.0-3.2 do y'all think I'm in. (Haven't had a good semester) I also have volunteer hours, club swimming, and coach a swim team.
Y'all think I'm in?
The Grove is bumping. It’s a beautiful November day. Life is good. HYDR.
Hi all, 3 High School Coaches visiting from Iowa for the Egg Bowl and very excited to root on the Rebels in the rivalry game. Very excited to visit the Grove and have fun. Anyone open to allow us in their tailgate? We can provide some alcohol and good conversations, please let me know if this fits your style!
I am an international student, and I need a fee waiver. I was just checking through posts in here and I saw a comment which said Ole Miss waives application fee for certain ACT/SAT score.
Is that true? I have 1490(34 ACT equivalent) so can I get my fee waived?
Can anyone tell me please??
Thank you for your time.
Any student staying in Quaters during winter break?
I’m thinking about applying for the Luckyday scholarship but they have requirements they have to do and the info on the scholarship application sight doesn’t really specify what. I also want to know if I can apply to have my roommate be someone that’s not in the Luckyday program. If there's any advice yall can give me, it'll be greatly appreciated.
Hello! My husband and I are Ole Miss alum and both have the day off tomorrow and are planning on taking a day trip to Oxford. My 2 year old is absolutely enthralled with squirrels right now and is devastated that none are out really right now. Are there still a lot of squirrels on campus?? We are going to plan to swing by and go looking for them if there are but if not do not want to disappoint here!! Thanks so much!!!
Are there any good Chinese, Thai or Indian restaurants in Oxford? I’m new to the area.
Thoughts on Lane potentially leaving? Saw that Paul Finebaum dropped a little nugget about him potentially going to another program or the NFL in a story.
Hi, I'm gonna be a student next year majoring in sports and recreation administration, what's life like? And does anyone have any tips?
Hi there,
My partner (33f) and I (33m) are stopping by Oxford for the Ole Miss/Mississippi State game the day after thanksgiving. We’re brits though – total newbies to American football.
We’ve heard the tailgating is a scene worth checking out – any advice on how to make the most of it?
And any advice on where to go out after the game? We’re staying the night in Oxford.
Thanks people!
For starters, I've been going to games since I was 8 years old, every game my family could. My grandfather was QB decades ago. I'm about as red and blue as other people on this board are. Generations of alums.
But the "We are Ole Miss" attitude has been part of this this team for decades. We beat Georgia, have a weekend off, go to play a team having a tough year and bam they show up and whip us. For the life of me I will never figure out what it takes to weed this attitude out of the team. I feel terrible for Dart, he's really been such an incredible player these last few years.
All we can hope for now is to whip State who will now be even more pumped to beat us after today. Never underestimate how a terrible team from your rival can do that. What a disappointing season.
Hello, fellow rebels. I'm wondering what you consider your most hated rivalry in whatever sport you can think of. I plan on doing this for every Power 4 school (at least the ones with a subreddit). I got into college football after getting a job at the University of Oregon and having a lot of fun with the new college football video game. in conclusion, who do you hate the most
Hey guys! my friend just got admitted and she has pretty good stats i mean they are like average good but still better than mine lol. She asked me how to tell if ole miss sent like free money like 3,000 or 2,000 for having a certain gpa or SAT/ACT. But im not sure about if you have to only be able to like apply for scholarships or if you get them given when you’ve been admitted yk what i mean??
Coming in town for the egg bowl and looking for someplace to eat Thursday night other than El Charro. Anyone know of anything open Thanksgiving day?
Is a parking citation the same as a traffic ticket? Will it be on your driving record? Got a citation from UPD.
Hi, if anyone is interested, me and my roommates are applying for the house lease near university. Its in great condition and in wallkable distance. We expect to move there next fall. We pay 700$ for one room, (electricity bills included). DM me if u are interested
Do y’all think I’ll still experience ole miss the same if I go in the spring? I’ll still be classified as a freshman in the fall but I’m graduating high school in December. By experience I mean having friends and stuff I don’t wanna be a loner just because I’m going in the spring and might be the only incoming freshman. 😭
I don’t live relatively far from the university (roughly a 45 minute drive) and I am planning on transferring here in the spring semester. However, I have heard and seen many horror stories about housing at Ole Miss. That being that there isn’t much space available, the dorms being extremely expensive and in some cases gross.
I wanted to hear from y’all if I shouldn’t even bother with the application since they give priority to freshmen and those with less than 30 credit hours anyway, and just save the $100 as well as the cost of living on campus. And overall save the entire hassle and just commute to school instead.
I’m a half Brazilian dude who is a sophomore and I feel like there are like zero Brazilians I am curious if there’s others.
ISO 2-3 tickets for Miss St. game. Havent been to an Ole Miss game before. Thanks for the help.
Flying in for the Egg Bowl and we were looking for restaurant that was open on Thanksgiving. Hoping for a place in or close to the Square, but most places seem to be closed.
I have a question about scholarships. My gpa isn’t great it’s a 2.9 so basically a 3.0. I’m going to Ole Miss but the tuition for out of state is very expensive but i don’t qualify for financial aid. Is there any scholarships that I could possibly apply for that aren’t academic based affiliated with ole miss and not. Let me know!!
Are the guys at ole miss gentlemen or are they are all in the closet like they are at bama
Hey, so I’m from Texas and I have a 2.8 unweighted gpa. I just submitted my application last Thursday and I’m super nervous about getting in. Ole Miss has called my name and I’ve been so drawn to it since the day I’ve found out about the university. I have community service hours, I’ve ran varsity track all 4 years and I’ve also had the same job since my sophomore year. I took the ACT and just submitted my scores and I made around a 23. From what I hear I should have no problems getting in but I’m so nervous and need advice!
My Illinois bf is coming to town for like 4 days (his first time to MS) and im trying to think of the best way to spend the little time we have to show him the campus and city I love. Any recommendations on where we should go??? I already have a few ideas!
