Welcome to the Unofficial Subreddit for Brigham Young University! Feel free to contribute to the community by discussing anything and everything BYU-Related!
Any type of submission is welcome (Videos, News Articles, Discussions, Questions, etc) as long as it is related directly to BYU. The only exception being Honor Code posts unless there is new news about it. Please no "Why do I have to shave every day?" submissions. We all understand Brigham Young University has some strange rules.
Please keep your submissions tasteful. Comments that express hate, are threatening, or are demeaning to any individual or group will be removed. This includes comments towards people who may not share the same belief system as you.
Religious conversations must be directly related to BYU. While BYU is owned and operated by a religious institution, it is a university first and foremost and we would like to keep the conversations here about the university itself. Submissions that include religion within them are allowed as long as it is still directly related to BYU.
Example of something allowed: "How do you feel about starting a class with a prayer and then talking about evolution in Biology 100?"
Example of something not allowed: "Brigham Young once said that anyone who puts on mismatching socks will never make it to Heaven!"
If you want to discuss religion without being restricted to the context of BYU, consider visiting /r/lds or /r/mormon
Please help out by reporting any submissions or comments unfit for this Subreddit.

I just want to ask if anyone has studied this course and will know when the instructor will post my grade.
I have completed all three of my midcourse exams. Every time I submitted the exam, I got the grade immediately, but I waited for almost two weeks, and the system said the instructor hadn't posted my grade.
Is there something wrong with Examity? All my midcourse exams are proctored, and although I have completed the exam for quite some time, the instructor still hasn't posted my grade.
Thank you guys
I know the essays and recommendations weigh a lot, but what are my chances of getting in?
Hi! Hope you all are doing great!
I will be a transfer from the winter 2025 and am eager to major in accounting.
Now, I heard it's acc310 class is quite hard to get an A (or A-).
Are there any materials I can find to prepare for the class?
Also, if you guys could share its syllabus with me, I would highly appreciate it!!
Have a nice day everyone!!
Should I go? It's a pretty hefty price tag
I am a high school junior currently and REALLY want to get into byu. I currently have a 3.9 gpa. I've taken some concurrent enrollment classes but this year I have my first AP class. I do not anticipate a good act and may not submit a score (I'm terrible at standardized tests). I do attend seminary. I have had a job all through high school. I'm also on my city's youth council that adds up to a lot of volunteer hours and experiences.
What can I do to stand out?? Also is there any advantage to apply for summer semester?
I took French 101 through BYU Independent Study so it technically counts as high school credit but I don’t know how to put it on my application?? There’s not really a spot for it to go because it’s not on my high school transcript but it isn’t college credit either?
If I wanted to be an RA for the upcoming spring/summer semester how early do I usually have to apply? And how does the hall advisor recommendation work!
I (23M) want to join a yoga group with other people my age, but I'm not too sure if a yoga class at a local business is exactly what I want. I've never done yoga except once with my mom and it felt really good. I want to make it a part of my habits. I don't care about any demographics except age. Is there such thing as a yoga club or something I can join without being an active BYU student?
I have to choose one between the two Book of Mormon ( Rel A 121) professors. Both of them didn't show up on Rate my professor. Or I could be on the waitlist for Kaylen Nelson (8th on waitlist for a class with 62 students). Whose class is easier and better?
Hey yall! Lookin to see if there are any Pokemon Go groups, especially with the new G-Max stuff requiring huge groups.
How do remote classes (in canvas lms) work? do you just do stuff whenever you want? Is it harder than in person classes? Is it worth it? Has anyone taken Child Psychopathology online?
As an incoming freshman starting in Winter, from what I understand, I am required to take univ 101 my first semester, and from what I can tell on the website, I will need to register for that class before I can even register to others. However, all the sections I can see are full, so I want to know if/when they are going to add new ones or if they will empty out.
I'm trying to switch sections for the SFL110, but I'm fourth on the waitlist so I think it's a toss-up if I'll get in. I think I'll get into astronomy, but that will put me at 17 registered credits. Can I keep my current SFL110 class in my cart and then drop it AFTER (if) I get into the other one, or will I have to drop it beforehand so I don't go over the 18 credit limit? I don't want to drop my current one, but then not end up getting in, but if I leave it, will it not let me register? Sorry if that's really wordy lol.
Idk this is my first semester at BYU and I’m just curious what my chances are for getting off the wait list for these classes?
This class would help me get a gen ed out of the way but I'm not sure how bad the wait will be. The class size I think was about 35.
Mind you, Indoor Cycling and Introduction to Film only allows 24 people in the class, so I'm sure if people will drop it or not.
I'm mostly worried about ARTHC 202 since I waited a year to take it specifically from Swensen (even emailed him about it earlier this year to confirm he would be teaching it). I pre-registered for it weeks ago, but I'm 78th on the waitlist. It's extra frustrating since this is the only section he teaches ARTHC 202. Do you think anyone will drop it?
EDIT: All right, so apparently I got into only one class that I pre-registered, which is great. Is there any chance I'll get into any of these?
Hey all,
I used to go to the Y and dropped out the last year of covid about 1 year away from finishing my econ degree. At the time, I didn't see how it would help my professional goals. Long story short, I now see the value (especially since I'm so close) and am beginning the process of re-enrollment.
Here's the twist - I now own and operate a business in another state that will require me to be in person for the next year, possibly two. I'd prefer not to wait that long to go back and wrap up my degree. Obviously the last time I was in school pretty much every class offered a remote option, and I wanted to know if that's still the case? Would it be possible to finish my degree without moving back to Provo? Or is it like I assume it is - mandatory in-person for the vast majority of classes, the same as pre-covid.
Any insight into the econ major specifically is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Hello!
Is it too hard to take ECON 100 plus ACC 200 together? As a bit of background, I am not very good at math and work almost full time, so I always try to have one challenging class a semester and others more manageable. Would taking both classes together be too hard or doable?
Are there usually too many tests on them, or are there more quizzes/participation/projects? Can someone give me a big picture of how assignments and tests work for both classes?
Thank you!
Ps: ACC 200 would be with Drake and ECON 110 with Pope.
Freshman student here, scheduling for winter semester. Some of the classes I wanted got filled super fast, so I put both those credits in. Is that a horrible idea or is it doable?
edit: thanks for all the comments, I readjusted my schedule to only have 150
Any suggested classes to replace the two that got filled? I'd like to keep the times generally about the same. Bummed about these
Edit: I also can't seem to waitlist myself on these classes even though I know there is a list. Why is that? Is there a priority on waitlists too?
I'm getting married in December, and I'm on the housing hunt grind. My fiancee and I graduate this April and will move to Arizona soon after. To me, it seems our best bet would be BYU housing to get a short lease. We joined the waiting list at the end of June and we are still 800 on the list. We've looked at places to start a new lease, but they all want 10-12 month leases. I'm on several Facebook groups, looking to take over someone's lease, but still no luck. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to find that short-term lease?
Greetings!
I am an international student looking to have my ecclesiastical endorsement from a local ward. I can't seem to get in contact with the bishop or anyone at the ward. I will be migrating to the United States soon and I am worried because I already set my endorsement ward as the one from my home country.
Worst case scenario, how do I go about changing the ward/bishop of choice assigned to my applicant endorsement to one in the United States?
Thanks, a non-member.
I need 1-2 credits to complete my schedule. Looking for something easy but also possibly engaging or interesting. What recommendations do you have?
I'll be graduating Winter 2026 and my major classes will only take up 6, maybe 9 (if I take electives) credits per semester. I'd like to have 12 credits so I don't have to request a new scholarship contract and more importantly, receive the full Pell grant (trying to get paid for going to school). Does anyone have any fun/easy classes they'd recommend taking? I've heard the EXDM 223R classes are nice but what are some others you'd recommend?
I am an incoming international freshman, and I am in the process of registering for classes. Unfortunately in my country calculus is not taught in high school (although I was pretty good at math in high school). My math knowledge ends with trigonometry and logarthms. Is Math 112 gonna be too difficult for me, especially in the first semester? Should i take it?
Hey everyone. Like everyone, I am working on my schedule for next semester and could use some advice. I am a pre program ME student. Have not yet applied to the program. This semester, I have taken 14.5 credits, however 6 of those credits included a UNIV, two religion classes, ME seminar, Chinese, and Calc. This next semester, I am hoping to take more major classes, I definitely going to take Calc 2, Physics 121, and Chin 301. I am still debating about whether to take a religion class that would put me at 13 credits, or CS 110 which would put me at 14 credits. My concern is that although I have already taken 14 credits, I have never taken so many STEM related courses. Will adding CS 110 to my schedule be too much of a burden? I would appreciate any advice. Especially from those who have taken similar classes.
Hi! So I have my RN from a FL university and wanted to transfer to BYU. From a quick google search - there doesn't seem to be a RN to BSN program. Does anyone know if the credits would transfer okay or would it really just be a set back to go? Any help or insight would be great!
I hate the testing center and try my hardest not to take classes that don't have exams there. I was wondering if Rel A 212 (The New Testament) taught by Philip Abbot has online midterms? It doesn't specify on ratemyprofessor either.
did anyone take SWELL 102 online vs in person?
i would prefer in person but i may need to do online remote delivery. has anyone had any experiences showing one better than the other?
