I'm a HS senior applying for the honors college. What exactly are the essays supposed to look like? Can I write them like I'd write all my other college app essays? There also is no minimum or maximum word limit, how long should the three essays be?
I got an sai of -1500, does this mean my tuition will be pretty much fully covered? For context next year i will be a sophomore and living off campus.
I just got back from thanksgiving last night and nothing was open and there wasn’t even someone at the front desk of my dorm. Is it the same today? I don’t really want to walk for 10 minutes just to find out everything is still closed.
Hi!
I am conducting a survey for my graduate capstone open to those who are TTU active students and alumni’s that discusses the fan engagement with the women’s volleyball team. Every response is greatly appreciated and confidential and should take you about a good 3 minutes to complete, please click the link below to participate!

The Texas Longhorns vs. Texas A&M Aggies game is tonight; they are both rivials of Texas Tech, so who are you rooting for in this game personally? I was going with the Longhorns, but I also think it would be funny if they got knocked out of the playoff, so I was going with the Aggies, but on the other side, Texas would be my second choice school, so after thinking about it, I'm pulling for the Longhorns.
Does TTU give out full rides to transfer students?
I have an SAI of Zero so ill mostly be getting the full Pell grant. Does anyone have any idea how much FSEOG tech usually gives people with an SAI like mine?
I am a fall 25 applicant. I have submitted my application; however, I haven't submitted my documents yet. The priority scholarship deadline is December 1. If I submit my documents after the deadline, will I still be eligible for a merit-based scholarship?
I know a lot of season-ticket holders are out of town. I’m looking to get some tickets for tonight’s game.
I want to get tickets to the game on Dec 8th BUT does anybody know which side of the Dickies arena Tech will be on?
I don’t want to accidentally wind up in a sea of Aggies! 😬
Hi! Freshman at TTU. I'm finding it very hard to find a boyfriend. Doing research and in a few clubs pertaining to my likes, I'm still struggling with my introvertedness and social anxiety. And dating apps are no help either. For living in Lubbock, I AM NOT INTO COUNTRY BOYS AT ALL!! And all I see on these apps are country boys, men who smoke weed and do more. So I have no hope in dating apps lol because it seems like the wrong crowd in general. I just need advice for how to go about finding potential relationships. I'm not really in a rush and believe that by not looking for love, love will come find me. But at the same time it's a lonely feeling that lingers even though I hang out with friends. My second worry is dating someone who lives somewhere else and so in the holidays and breaks i still have no one to like spend time with. I think that's why I'm so hesitant is that I want to be with someone who is from my hometown and goes to TTU so when I move back home after my undergrad, we are still together. Just advice please !!!
Hi everyone,
I’m a 32-year-old woman, a doctoral student at Tech. And this year I’ll be spending Christmas on my own. My family is overseas, and due to various circumstances, traveling to see them isn’t an option. While I’ve come to terms with being solo for the holidays, I want to make sure it’s still a meaningful and joyful experience.
I’d love to hear ideas from others who have celebrated Christmas alone or have creative ways to make the day special.
I want to focus on the positives of this experience rather than feeling lonely. If anyone has been in a similar situation, I’d love to hear how you made your day special.
Thanks in advance for your ideas and tips!
Happy holidays! 🎄✨
right now the only options i have are: bledsoe, chitwood, clement, coleman, gates, hulen, sneed, stangel, wall and weymouth, im transfering here as a junior, male, accounting but i dont mind a decent walk to rawls, all my classes are there anyway, please give me advice on what to choose, thankssss
I am a student doing MS in computer science and i have a subject called "Computer Systems Organisation and Architecture" being thought by Prof. Bashir Morshed
By any chance does anyone have the final exam question paper given by him from previous semesters ??
I’m currently a student at Liberty online and was surprised to find the program is asynchronous (no lectures or videos) which is all textbook reading. This was not what I expected and I’m thinking of applying to transfer to Tech. Is anyone in this program that could tell me if you have lecture videos? Or any kind of actual engagement (virtual ofc) with your professors or classmates? Thanks!
Hello! i am a high school senior that has applied for texas tech. I would like to have opinions from current students. Do you guys feel safe on campus? is it easy to make friends? how are the on campus dorms ?
I was just accepted into the master of healthcare administration program, anyone have details of their experience with that program? Pros and cons? What will you be doing with your masters once you graduate?
I have a 3.1 gpa and got a 1050 on my SAT. My school hasn’t taken ACTs yet tho… I’m on Varsity football team, Production theatre group, and the lead mobile cam in my schools sports Broadcasting club, and I have a lot of job experience, plus volunteer hours at local church. I don’t have a great gpa due to having to help my single mom of 3 w money working and helping the family. I really really want to go to Tech, especially because of the red raider guarantee, but the average GPA of a student there is 3.7 or so, so it makes me second guess my odds of making it in. Also I went today for a campus tour and I loved it, everything looked awesome. Sorry if this is a really asked question.
TLDR: 3.1 gpa, 1050 SAT, odds of me making it??
Hey Y'all,
This will be my second time applying to Texas Tech and I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted has a Statement of purpose template that I could use to write my own statement of purpose?
Writing about myself is not my strong suit and I could really benefit from someone who has been accepted.
I would also be interested in any websites or forums that I could follow to support me through the process. I asked admissions and they didn't respond to my emails.
I am a senior in high school with a 2.7 GPA. I didn't do very well in my first two years, but I finally got my act together in my junior and current senior years. I took my SAT but didn't score so well, only scoring an 810. With my application, I also attached four letters of recommendation along with the essay and short responses. The essay is good along with others thinking the same thing. I am hoping I make it in because Tech is my dream school even if I am set on academic probation.
So a few weeks ago, I did a ride along with TTPD. I then, got in trouble with the PD and can’t do anymore ride-alongs. I want to be an officer but the DA’s office has not contacted me. Am I good? Can I do ride-alongs? I talked to the TTPD Captain and he said that because my name was involved in a case, I can’t now. I’m very concerned.
I applied for TTUHSC clinical mental health graduate program, how do I know I got rejected? Haven’t heard anything back and when I call they say “decision has been made and will be sending notification via email” Is that a nice way of saying “sorry maybe next time”
Hi everyone,
I am an incoming (already admitted) graduate student for the summer 2025 semester (MSc Systems Engineering) and I am researching student/graduate assistant opportunities.
I've seen some openings for hourly paid student assistants (residential tutors) and I would like to confirm from anyone here if this or other hourly paid position qualify for the graduate fee waiver.
Thank you as you share your thoughts/experiences!
I'm planning to major in Digital Communication/Media and trying to decide between several options, things I’m looking for:
I’d love to hear insights from u guys. Thanks!
23 yr old M, the only group I’ve been able to hang out with this semester doesn’t really want to be friends, it’s been really rough for me, I just want to spend my free time with people before I have to go home and deal with my family over the break. I’m down for just about anything if you’ll just be a friend tomorrow and the week that we’re back in December. I’ll hang anywhere on campus and I’m down for whatever you want.
Edit: thank you for all your support, I will get back to you all as soon as I can, I have been busy with finals and a major scholarship application, and now I have to pack for thanksgiving break
I'm opening up the MyTech page and under the Registration and Finiacials tab, all it shows is that an error occurred. Is anyone else having this issue?
Few friends and i have decided to go to Austin and San Antonio by car for thanksgiving holidays (4 days) Can anyone suggest me spots to visit at these places as i have very less idea about them ??
And any other suggestions are welcome too..
Edit : Are there any good bars with reasonable prices??
