Are there any book clubs in the Lamoille County area?
Going to ski for a holiday. Hoping to get some cool drinks in. What do people recommend in the area?
I'm curious how the NEK is different than the rest of Vermont. Why is the area distinct?
Anybody have a hobby of photography/editing? I have been photographing trips/friends/events for a couple years and want to try to make a side hustle out of it. None of my VT friends seem to be into it, and id like to take a stab at getting more serious about it.
I'm a 23 y/o college grad, work M-F with weekends off, is anybody interested in partnering up and learning about photography with me? send me a PM
Hi all, my wife and I are at our wits end, we are expecting our second child soon, and our current one is going to daycare full time at a rate of $250 per week.
Because of the recent subsidy changes, our daycare just informed us they are upping their prices to $450 per week for toddler, $475 for infants, because they know the state will give them guaranteed subsidy money, and it "won't negatively impact the amount most families are paying them."
The problem, is after our recent raises, we are now just over the monthly limit to qualify for subsidy. Which means we will need to be paying $925 a week for two kids. That's my whole paycheck after taxes. We have seriously considered taking pay cuts to qualify for subsidy, or even me quitting my job to watch the kids.
I understand the changes likely helped a lot of people, but they have all but financially ruined us and potentially even at least my career if I have to quit, and we have no idea what we are going to do to be able to get through this. We know for sure that something will have to change, because $925 a week is so far past reasonable, that it's not an option, that's far more than double or mortgage.
There are other daycares that are not nearly doubling their rates around us, or have separate non subsidy rates, but with only a couple months notice and a wait-list of 9+ months, those aren't going to help us in the immediate future, but we are on multiple wait-lists.
Wanted to see if anyone else is having to deal with this or any advice anyone may have?
Thank you
It took place at UV in Harris Mills Cafeteria. Would love to hear from you!!
hi yall! my partner and i have some time off in mid-march and we’re wanting to spend a couple of days in vermont before we make our way to new york to visit friends. we’re gonna spend about 4 days or so with a rental car so any suggestions or tips would be lovely! we’re from florida and into outdoorsy stuff like hiking and what not but obviously it’s probably the end of winter so we won’t be able to partake in much of that we assume? thanks for any suggestions in advance! appreciate you <3
Hello, we are moving from VA next year, and I’m wondering if there is an elementary school offer DLI program Spanish, my son in the program now he is KG
Hi there! I'm looking for a hairstylist that does modern medium/long korean layered haircuts. Anywhere between the Burlington and Montpelier area. Im in my 40s and absolutely do not want to have an old lady haircut. Any recommendations where? I still haven't found anyone that does a good haircut in more than 10 years of living here. Thanks so much!
My landlord unfortunately didn’t hire a plow this year, and my driveway has been kind of a mess since Thanksgiving.
Wondering if there’s any plows looking for work, or if anybody has the contact of someone reliable in the area
We went last night, well worth going.
I have a hiking trip to Green Mountain near Rutland planned for this week, but I'm getting the impression it's a little dicey right now (ie: 5-6 inches of snow on the ground?)
Does anybody know what the trail conditions are like right now? Is it more of a snowshoeing operation at this point?
Picked up a camera battery someone dropped out on the Colchester causeway. If you lost one l'll be happy to return it
I’m doing work for grad school working on hypothetical wind turbine farm proposals and chose to do mine in VT. I feel that there has always been a fair amount of opposition to real wind turbine projects here. Based on my research I realized just how necessary it was to place them on ridge lines to make them efficient and affordable. I’ve never really thought they would look that bad and would actually be pretty cool. I’m not saying we put them on camels hump or mansfield but would you support seeing more wind turbines on the tops of the green mountains?
Bought a precut Christmas tree in Franklin County from a tree farm. Had this goop that we thought was snow, but instead turned out to be scentless, jelly like substance. Does not leave a residue when washed off hands. Not sticky, so I dont think it's sap.
Paradise Burrito went out of business while I was living out of state. 15 years later, I’m still craving their Thai Chicken Wrap.
Any former employees know the recipe or brand of peanut sauce? And I don’t remember but…was there red or green cabbage involved?
Going up, the nexus aisle had neither the red or green light lit and the booth was empty. We went through the regular lane and the agent told us nexus is always open - there is a button to press to talk to someone.
Coming back into the us the Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend, nexus was closed according to a sign which is smaller than all other signs.
It took us 12 months and a long commute for an interview for these cards. And they are useless when the border is bysy?
Looking to find other people to play squash with and I'm wondering if there are any facebook groups or anything like that for Vermont Squash.
Seems like options are limited for courts in this state - Middlebury, UVM (do these still exist?), the Edge in SB and then Dartmouth. Anyone know of any other places?
