I was wondering if anyone knew of any singles events/speed dating happening within an hour or bangor leading up to/around/on Valentine’s Day? Speed dating, singles mixers, or even good places like bars to go that may hold a singles event or have a younger (21-30) clientele? I’m late 20’s M and would prefer the events be for under 30. The last speed dating I went to, I was the youngest person there by a long shot.
Thanks in advance!

Our Nation is being dismembered by a lunatic and his billionaire parasite. Musk is busy rooting through our national treasury. trump is playing at ruining our relationships with our closest allies. Where the HELL IS COLLINS?

Hi there,
We are trying to plan a trip in the summer to do some outdoorsy stuff. We were thinking of trying Acadia National Park, as we've heard great things, but we were also told that Camden Hills State Park is just as nice with the same views. Is Acadia/Bar Harbor worth the extra hour a half drive for us?
Thanks!
Someone left a bunch of older books in the break room at work for people to pick through and I grabbed this on a whim. Turned out to be a fanatic read from 1988
Bill was a writer for PPH for 3 decades and spent his summers cruising up and down the coast, spending most of his time in the Midcoast and Harpswell areas. The whole book is a brilliant jump back into Maine in the 60s-80s and full of recollections of lobstermen and restaurants and boat builders who are long gone but not forgotten.
I also just really enjoyed the style of the book. Like a series of short newspaper articles about hidden coves and islands along the coast. He also talks about the beginnings of Maine and how a lot of different areas got their names based on the early settlers. There’s a lot of fun info about our wild life and he made sure to record different things like prices and fishing hauls and whale counts which I think are really fascinating to look back at and compare to how things are going today.

I live in Cumberland County and am aiming to start the child custody process. I am so lost in all of this.. Our kid has been living with me for the last almost 3 months, and I receive TANF. Does DSER handle custody? Do I need to get a lawyer? Do I have legal rights due to TANF already being in place? I'm anxious the other parent might try and take our child from home or school.
I was laid off 6 months ago and just landed a new job paying $6/hr more than the last one that didn't pay well and had me train new people who volunteered to me that they were hired at $2 more than me after my 3 years with the company.
It's a 90 minute drive South to Portland each day and the 12 hour shift schedule flips from days to night every two weeks, but I will find a way to make it work.
I won't have time to focus on my new candle business The Maine Candle Factory, that I started almost a year ago, but at least I'll be able to continue to pay for my car and food, etc. and hopefully still be able to make candles once I get used to my hours.
Also it will be nice working near a city so I can once again enjoy an occasional nice restaurant or going to the gym to get back in shape. I hope I can find a place that makes linguini and clam sauce 😋
Thank you to everyone who kept telling me to stay positive even when everyone kept turning me down for work for the past six months.
Hey! I’m just wondering if there are any spots that would be good for some car photos. I’m looking for more of a city/landmark area that may have some good lighting and where I can go at night and snap some photos of my car. I’m specifically looking for areas in SOUTHERN Maine (Portland, Biddeford, Scarborough) but I’ll take suggestions if you have any other spots that you think would look pretty :).
Does anyone know the history of 10 school street? 40+years ago there was talk that it had underground tunnels to the river. At one point someone from RI was renting rooms in that house, and a year or two later they were later arrested in RI for being involved in their infant daughter's death.
I'm a teacher and reading the news has been, well...IYKYK. After all the recent Executive Orders targeting the world of education, and students who already experience discrimination and marginalization from their peers (and some teachers) on a daily basis - I am feeling incredibly proud of the state Dept. of Education after seeing this on their site. I went to check and make sure our state site is not being scrubbed of references to trans kids or DEI efforts, and found this - and feel like I can breath a little bit more deeply, at least for today.

Hi all, I'm newish to the area and want to book a show in town. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone can recommend any good spots. I'm an indie-folk cottagecore peasant-rocker and like to play hip fingerpicking tunes on my Fender Acoustisonic while sitting on a stool for most if not all of the show. But I can stand too! You wanna piece of me? Here you go: https://soundcloud.com/katekoenig/ulysses Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Many thanks!
Anyone know when the price will rise cuz of tariffs?
I can’t wait to stop hearing having to listen to my faucets dripping so my pipes don’t freeze.
And everything flowering.
I just noticed I had several tolls in the month of January that charged me by my license plate instead of my EZPass. This mostly happened at the end of 295 in West Gardiner, but also a couple times in Biddeford. Other tolls posted to my EZPass correctly.
The difference is that charging by license plate is a higher rate, plus they aren't eligible for the monthly 40% rebate.
Carefully check your posted tolls! Not sure if it's my EZPass or if the toll booths have something wrong.
Hi neighbors! I’m in the market to buy or maybe lease a decent used or new car to replace my ailing Impreza. Do you have any recommendations for a decent dealership? I’m on the MidCoast but willing to travel 1-2 hours.
