Tesla and $2000 Efficiency Maine Rebate Question

Does anyone know if Tesla takes off the $2000 at the time of purchase, like many local dealers do, or does the buyer need to submit a claim with Efficiency Maine after the sale?

Friend or Foe

They are in my house every year. This one is a little bigger then normal,, so may be different. Front legs are longer and do not go to the front and it seems to walk like a crab. Checked out dark fish and huntsman. They look too big. It's about the size of a nickel.

Usually leave them be, but this one is kinda running around the ceiling about my bed and I am really hoping he finds a nice corner soon. 😂

Is there any good public transit from Houlton to Bangor?

I'm planning a trip that requires me to get from Houlton to Bangor, and I don't have a vehicle. I'm worried about the cost of an Uber or Taxi, and I'm struggling to find public transit (buses in particular) in the area that go to Bangor. Could anyone who lives in the Houlton area or nearby (or honestly anybody with the knowledge) help me with this? I've been struggling for a bit and would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Any subreddit like Facebook marketplace for Maine?

Title says it all. I'm not on Facebook so I can't use the marketplace (and I don't really want to make an account). Is there a subreddit for Maine about buying and selling?

Maine cheap beer?

Looking at the grocery store coolers and started to wonder, what’s the cheap go to beer for Mainers? Molson, moosehead, Narragansett?

Off the beaten trail stories

Anyone got any almost unbelievable stories about old Maine villages? Port Clyde or Surrey? Cushing or Boothbay? Castine or Friendship? Can’t forget inland or the islands- Appleton or Islesboro? I’ll start - I was in a tucked away in a country store - might have been Owls Head little general store? 2 laborer- type got out of a truck together and walked inside the store as amiable as could be - they appeared to have some argument about coffee and a brawl broke out between the 2 of them - the dude behind the counter had to jump over & break them up - there was blood and none of us even heard what their beef was - Port Clyde I saw a very well dressed tourist stuff stolen goods down his pants - now you go!!!!

Why is every Chipolte in Maine a hot mess?

Seems like every Chipolte I visit is either out of basic ingredients, has a broken register or broken soda fountain. It wasn’t like that pre pandemic?!? Or am I looking at it with rose colored glasses?

Out buildings & Maine

Took a different route today on my daily constitutional and I suddenly realized how many Maine homes have out buildings. Sheds & free standing garages of every type. I actually have 2 sheds myself- hey Mainers do you have an outbuilding or 2 on your property?

Swap meets?

Are there any swap meets in Southern Maine anymore? I remember there used to be one on Cascade road in Saco. Looking to set up a booth but don't want to rent a consignment space in a flea market.

Racoon in the median on 95 in Kittery?

I was driving south on 95 on Wednesday around 1pm and there was one of those lighted highway signs saying that there was an animal in the median around exit 2 in Kittery. Sure enough there was a road worker in the median with a raccoon he had pinned to the ground with some kind of pole. The raccoon was alive and trying to get away. Does anyone know what happened with this? There were a bunch of other workers on the shoulder. I’m trying to imagine how a person could get a raccoon across a busy highway without either of them getting injured! Maybe someone here knows the story.

The passing lane on 95 isn’t a travel lane and shouldn’t be the most congested.

Have drivers gotten worse since covid? I see people in the passing lane doing 65-70, sometimes they don’t move at all for the line behind them, sometimes they move over until people pass then move BACK to the passing lane! Dense traffic in this case is manufactured.

Rant over. Have a great weekend everyone.

What make a place “rough” or a “hood” in Maine?

My husband and I just relocated to Livermore Falls from the Washington, DC area. We love it; we find that the people are extremely nice and welcoming. One thing that we keep encountering is people saying is the area is “rough” or a “hood” which we are very confused by. What are we missing here?

MaineHealth is absolute shit.

MaineHealth is a goddamned fucking disgrace. Not only do they fuck me up in the ED by not providing me a safe psychiatric place and one of their workers giving me attitude in the ED Annex (which is the limited psych section of the ED; I mean, getting attitude in a fucking PSYCH area of a hospital by a psych worker when you've just had the most severe panic attack a person can probably have and are literally just trying not to panic all the time?), and fuck up their billing as a matter of course...I was supposed to have a 2:30pm telehealth with them, and to join the telehealth by 2:15pm.

Was supposed to. Yesterday their patient portal said I had an upcoming visit today, and the portal also said that I'd be contacted about the proper way to join a telehealth. At 2pm when I logged in, it said I had no upcoming visits. I checked my email. Nothing. Tried calling them. Busy off the hook. 2:15 went by. No changes. 2:30 goes by, and I find a fucking after-visit summary, that was no doubt auto-generated, for a visit I couldn't do.

The real kicker is that, around 2:45pm, the link to join the telehealth showed up for my 2:30pm appointment. But I'm so completely enraged that it would not be a productive meeting and as it is I'm going to have to blast off some serious energy and then sob and then try calming myself.

This fucking organization is apparently rebranding, and I can clearly see why. They fucking suck. It took a lot of energy management and skills to get me through this week, and MaineHealth fucking fails again. If I missed an appointment, I'd be charged. Are they going to compensate ME for MY missed time due to THEIR fuckup? I was doing paid surveys and would happily have continued to do so. Now I'm completely dysregulated and triggered.

God damn MaineHealth, and god damn the US healthcare system.

EDIT: About an hour after 2:45pm, they signed me up for an appointment on May 10 without discussing it with me first. I had already written all of the above (sans the swearing and with more constructive speech) to them via email messages that have been read, one of which was replied to expressing dismay and apology (this person is good and not responsible for MaineHealth's large problems). So someone at that practice signed me up for an appointment, which would have been the day after I'm seeing my therapist next week (seeing providers or doing mental health groups on consecutive days is very taxing for me at this time as it is). I already prepared myself carefully for today's appointment, only to get fucked. So I wrote to them that they had no right to schedule an appointment without my permission, and I canceled it. Given how hard today clearly was (and given the emails read by them), I consider them not contacting me about a date and time first to be fucking rude.

EDIT 2: To the people who are saying Wow you got an appointment in a week: They only scheduled this appointment because of the screwup. My initial post-hospitalization appointment that was supposed to happen was over 5 months after I was first hospitalized at Maine Med. Given my level of sensory and anxiety agitation (which that particular office clearly knew about because I was in email discussion with a worker there) about the coming week, that began around April 25 (since I had potentially 5 important things to do, such as bringing my car in for inspect and service--successful; doing my CPTSD group that evening--unsuccessful because I decided not to push my nervous system after pushing it to do the car; seeing my soon-departing therapist Thursday--successful; then prepping emotionally and physically for the MaineHealth appointment that didn't happen)........I was fragile and wanted that to work, and with my experiences with hospitals over the last 5 months coping in any way with hospital interactions is absolutely a big trigger. And again, the MaineHealth office that I go to knew this. I don't care that it's automated. I am not going to go through that level of prep again. They scheduled it on the same day of the week, which is very much a recovery day for me because I'm grieving my therapist and have only 4 more visits with her before she stopped being a therapist at all in exactly 1 month.

I have CPTSD. At this point, every single interaction with them literally feels like abuse.

Creamy Coconut Dr. Pepper!

Has anyone found the new coconut Dr. Pepper available in Maine? It was released May 1st, Ellsworth Irving has a sign for it near the coolers, but no idea when it will arrive. I'm usually not a fan of trying new soda flavors, but DP and coconut, I'm excited.
