Shopping finds?

Wondering what people found during small business Saturday, and generally this weekend.

Trade winds is having an out of business sale, 40% off store wide.

Vermont eclectic has some fun tshirts, long sleeves and sweatshirts.

Vermont flannel had some nice quality blankets that are perfect for gifts.

Floral and fauna had some…interesting trinkets (lots of bones)

What’d you find?

Weenies

Went to weenies today. The prices were around $7+ for add ons.

Huge kudos to the owners who lowered the price from $10 to $7, likely considered community feedback.

Shoutout to the workers who had people coming in nonstop.

Beef hotdog was large. Vegan hotdog was a light life glizzy. Toppings included: nacho cheese, crispy onions, crispy jalapeños, bacon, vegan bacon, chili(?), some others.

Overall, would stop by there on occasion, much more often than if the dogs were $10

Howl Bier

Visited today and really enjoyed it! Was impressed with the menu despite the size. It was moderately busy for a Sunday afternoon and the staff was super nice. Can definitely recommend

Fireworks on Wednesday at 8:30

Saw this and figured I would share -for the inevitable questions - AND as a heads up for people that want to go check out some fireworks.

On Dec 4th at 8:30 pm the Associated General Contractors of Vermont will be hosting a fireworks display from Waterfront Park in Burlington.

Thanksgiving came, and now it’s winter.

Just like that… literally, from before Thanksgiving, to after Thanksgiving… we have transitioned from sunny days in the low to mid 40s, to a week(and likely, a few solid months) of cloudy days where the temperature doesn’t nudge much above freezing. Cold makes me miserable and makes me not want to go outside ever, and coupled with the darkness beginning at 4:00 now, I’m all 😥.

Give me a reason to be happy. Go!

White Mitsubishi Being Weird......

Just a heads up that there is a weird guy driving around town with VT plates of something like KRD 899 that just followed me walking up Bradley, rolled down his window and said something (didn't hear because I had headphones in)... I don't know why he did this or what he wanted, but why do people have to be so incredibly sketchy? Just be normal?!

ISO: ticket to Slowdive (1/30, @ Higher Ground)

If anyone has a spare ticket, I’ll gladly buy it, and/or roll with you if (like me) you’re solo and might like some company along to take in the show with. They’re among my favorite bands, and have been since I was a kid; I just had some unexpected vet expenses last month and couldn’t pull the trigger on tix before the event sold out. Thanks in advance!

Cat escaped at Shelburne Bay Park, pls share info if you see him...

https://preview.redd.it/medr66g26a4e1.png?width=3528&format=png&auto=webp&s=c840abd3337d07b6b256a75edb498832bd4f3638

~3 y/o male Siamese/domestic cat, ~ 10lb, very timid. Was frightened by dogs from distance and broke an untested Temu cat leash while I was enjoying the view there and brought him out of cat bag to stretch legs. I was on a road trip for the holiday. It happened at the night of Nov 29. By ~mid night I could still see his eyes from the woods. Waited in the car with car door open but next morning there were no trace of him..

He is an experienced outdoor cat used to live outdoor for hours and days in Montreal winters. So physically he should be ok with the weather. But due to being timid I am worrying that he won't try to approach unfamiliar people until very much need to, which could put his life in danger.

Have some posters on site, left the cat bag with full of food in it hiding under a trailer. Also looking for suggestions what agencies, like shelters, should I be registering with in the event of him being handed over to. Much appreiciated..😢

Christmas tree rentals?

Are there any places in or around Burlington that do rentals of live potted Christmas trees, rather than pre cut or cut your own trees?

Advent calendars?

This might be a long shot, but is anywhere local selling advent calendars? Even marginally better than the shitty $2 Hannaford ones would be nice. I totally dropped the ball this year and didn’t order the badass Bonne Maman one. Thanks in advance!

Opinions on moving to Burlington to pursue bartending?

So for context M(30) I originally moved to Vermont when I was 22, and lived in the Addison county area for 6 years. Moved back home to NH in 2022 after a divorce but found myself really missing Vermont the past few years. An opportunity came up to move back to VT to my grandfather's condo right in downtown Burlington. Rent will definitely be in the cheaper side especially given what I would be moving into and how good of a location it is. Curious on what people's thoughts are on the area nowadays for someone looking to keep pursuing bartending/ managing which I've been doing the past 7 years (15 in the industry)

Christmas tree in the area?

What’s your best idea on a precut, affordable Christmas tree in the greater Burlington area?

I know, I should cut my own down, but it’s not happening this year. So who’s got my affordable precut trees?

Seeking yoga dance

Hi everyone, does anyone know of any YogaDance classes or if a YogaDance community already exists in Burlington? I’m specifically looking for YogaDance— sometimes it goes by the name of Let Your Yoga Dance or Journey Dance.

I know that Sangha offers Buti, which I love, but I’m looking for YogaDance. I’m looking to practice, and I’m interested in eventually getting my teacher’s certification.

Namaste 🩷

Cut-Your-Own-Tree Farms Open in the Evening

We've been loyal customers to White's Tree Farm, but this year our schedules are such that we would ideally like to pick up a tree after work hours during the week and it looks like White's closes at 5. Does anybody know a place, ideally that would let you cut the tree yourself, open after 5 on weekdays?

Indoor running tracks?

I’ve been trying to find an indoor running track to use when it snows or is too cold outside to jog!

Any recommendations or ideas? A treadmill just doesn’t do it for me
