The flavor of the beer I got from them, after asking for a recommendation, had a lot of similarities with coffee, which kind of fits with the fact that their store also sells coffee, and to me it's kind of similar to the bitterness of xocolatl without peppers with light sweetening.
Hi all, I heard a rumor that you're only good for two draft beers before they say move it along...or something to that effect. Could anyone provide a little more clarity before my girlfriend and I make the trek up. I'm not trying to suggest that we are looking to make a day of drinking there, just what if one of us wanted another or something like that.
Thanks!
Hey VT Beer! I am visiting in late Sept for Schilling's Oktoberfest and traveling through Burlington and east. I'm wondering what's up with the House of Fermentology which is on my list of must-visits that also includes: (in order)
I only have a few days passing through but am I missing any musts? And can you still get HoT beers through Foam? Cheers
I'm returning to VT after a long time away. Back in my day (harumph, get off my lawn, harumph), it was Copper Ale, #9, and Woodchuck.
Now, I'm a beer lover who leans towards German-style wheats, Belgian-style whites, and dark stouts. I'm not *huge* on IPAs, but I'm learning (particularly with hazy's).
I will want to try everything (slowly, my tolerance is quite low). Where should I start?
I know this sub is about beer so I apologize in advance. I am coming from Canada to visit your lovely state soon and would like to pick up some bourbon to bring home, preferably bottles that are hard to find or more expensive at home. If you know of a store that has a good selection somewhere around Stowe please drop it in the comments!
Also, and this is a long shot, but if you know anywhere that specifically sells Mellow Corn please let me know as I’d love to get another bottle of that crazy nonsense. Thanks
I may be late to the party, but I only recently started noticing that nearly every brewery around here has a 9% or higher double IPA on the shelf.
Isn't that just a little too much for anyone else or is it just me? Did Heady Topper cause this?
There are so many amazing beers in Vermont, but it seems like every brewer does at least 50% of their batches as double IPAs or some other IPA. It's good, but sometimes feels like I'm getting kicked in the face with a boot made of hops and the alcohol content is so high. Why don't they do more variety? There are so many good types of beer out there.
I heard a rumor some of their beers in cans may be available to purchase in places besides their brewery. Any truth to that rumor?
Question - Are the Fiddlehead 12oz brewed and canned in Shelburne like the tall boys?
I posted a mostly comprehensive list of VT breweries here a couple years ago. Trying to catch up now with all the new ones, as well as any moves or closures.
Here's what I have for updates:
Grand Isle now has 2 - Two Heroes and Kraemer & Kin.
Burlington area has 2 new ones - Black Flannel in Essex and Weird Window at the old Farnham location.
Four Quarters moved into their new location, still in Winooski, and Burlington Beer is apparently in the process of moving to Burlington.
Bennington now has a third one downtown called Farm Road. Any idea what happened to Northshire Brewing? Last I heard they were moving to Manchester but that was over 2 years ago. Snow Republic is a bit further east in Dover.
Vermont Beer Makers is where Trout River used to be. Not sure if it's the same business.
The NEK now has Whirligig in St J as well as Dirt Church in East Haven.
Killington Beer is closed as far as I can tell.
Lucy and Howe is new in Jericho, which I believe was opened by a former Magic Hat brewer. Speaking of which, they have also left Vermont as far as I know.
Some Google searches also led me to find Mt Holly Beer and Big Tree, as well as Catamount which seems to be a reboot of an old brewery at Harpoon or something like that.
That's my updated list. Any others I missed?
Heading up to Vermont in 3 weeks to experience the fall season and am looking for a brewery or cider place that has a good view! Any suggestions welcome!! (Everyone going is a over 21)
Anyone had any new releases that really blew them away? Looking specifically for seasonal or new stuff, not the year round offerings.
I am working on a chipotle wine, need to know what fruit would pair well with it in a wine or if I am going going to have to start from scratch. Was thinking concord grapes or pear.
Also getting a bunch of weed trim and going to put that in a wine after I activate it. Was thinking a banana wine base. Any input would be appreciated. Or if I'm in the wrong forum, please let me know where to post this.
Does anyone know of brewery tap rooms that are open for pours (or even on site consumption)? Looks like Lawsons, foam, and red clover are open some days.
My wife and I are headed up to VT this weekend for the first time in over a year (for obvious reasons) and hoping to grab a few pints from the source. Doesn't matter which area of the state, we'll be all over.
