I been working on a vr game likes very similar to l4d mostly because Im a massive fan of l4d and heavily basing things from the game on l4d. would it be okay to say freely that the game is based on l4d in videos about it and stuff?
Hello,
I was just wondering if I am able to use textures from Portal 2 in a mod for Portal 1. I plan to distribute it on Steam, under the Portal 1, but I want to make sure valve doesn’t get mad at me for doing anything like that. I don’t think they will mind, but it’s better safe than sorry.
So I have been playing Left 4 Dead most my life and it has been the first zombie game I have ever played. But one thing I noticed is how we console players are being scammed. For the pc players of Left 4 Dead you get all the dlc campaigns completely for free. But for us console players we have to pay 7 dollars for each dlc campaign. We even have to pay 7 dollars for Crash Course which is a 2 chapter campaign which is complete bs to me. How is it fair that we have to pay for the dlc campaigns but pc players don't have to pay for them at all. I'm guessing Valve is doing this just to get some more money out of the console players.
I'm asking because I'm currently making a beat, and I want to use the Demoman's "Kaboom!!!!!!" in it. Am I allowed to use this?
happy halloween 👍
Why i can’t writr critism about your dota 2 team? They are allowing cheaters, match fixers etc. Why we can’t touch your moronic kingdom guys? “We gave you this modern time slave and you have nothing to do about it, enjoy.” This is your policy? Just tell us. I just want to know. Thanks.
I heard about the TOS changes on steam but I heard it was because 2000 arbitrations, I looked it up but I'm still confused, if any of yall know it would be appreciated
Does anyone else feel that Valve's games can get exhaustingly repetitive?
I’ve been thinking about how many of Valve’s titles, especially Left 4 Dead and Half-Life, tend to stick to the same core enemies and weapons from start to finish. Sure, each map in Left 4 Dead has its own story, but the gameplay still feels like playing the same thing over and over—same zombies, same weapons, with little to no real progression or change. No evolving tools or different enemy dynamics, just… rinse and repeat.
With Half-Life, there’s a bit more variety in Half-Life 2, with some new weapons and the iconic Gravity Gun that made combat more dynamic. Combine soldiers change slightly in appearance, but not much else. The gameplay formula still stays the same, and after a while, it feels like a loop—like we’re just repeating the same experience across new backdrops, all under the label of “new story.”
It seems like Valve really focuses on polished mechanics and atmosphere, but sometimes that comes at the cost of adding variety and progression. The AI Director in Left 4 Dead is a cool feature, but it doesn’t change the core issue—you’re still just doing the same thing repeatedly. I get that Valve wants players to master a smaller set of mechanics, but would it really hurt to have some progression in enemy types or weapon upgrades?
Anyone else feel like Valve’s approach to “replayability” can actually make these games feel repetitive or exhausting over time instead of engaging? Or is it just me?
Wheatley becomes a pumpkin for the night XD
It all started after 7.00 but as the game progresses and more and more stuff is added, the performance becaming worse and worse. I can run dota from 220 to 400 fps on ryzen 5800x3d, 32 gb ram, 4070 super 12g , 2560x1440 240 hz , 5 to 25 ms ping on eu servers and it doesnt matter how much fps i jave i always have huge jittery tearing , camera at 8000 speed behave slow and unresponsive , the delay between action and response makes the game very hard to play / unenjoyable game experience. I also keep my pc bloat free, no useless apps running in background, temps are chilling and i have no problem in cs2 or deadlock, win10/win11 or different drivers and even lowering ( only animated portraits, and high textures + 100% render scale) makes no difference ( no fps gain and huge tearing with input lag is still present). The only thing that makes little difference is using vulkan api with compute shaders off ( which makes no sense). Also i noticed that i stuttering can be triggered by opening main menu during game.
Hey , I have been having this issue , i dont know what to do , only happens in faceit games , i verified all the files, install over again , still the same issue , anyone solve this ?
I have several steam accounts, and one of my earliest accounts is over 20 years old.
It's been probably 10 years since I logged into this account.
I decide to try and can't seem to remember my password, so I reset it, sending the email to my original email for the account.
Instead of allowing me to reset my password, steam is requiring that I show additional "proof" that the account is mine. And the only form of proof that they will accept is a picture of the original CD for my first game, CS 1.6. Who still has that… 20 years later, what an unreasonable thing to ask.
I understand that some steam accounts are very valuable, and that steam is just trying to protect its users, but I feel like if I haven't set up some additional form of account protection, then that should fall on me. Steam should NOT be allowed to tack on additional account verification requirements, ESPECIALLY ones that are that asinine.
Has anyone had success in fighting these?
I want my account back, and these feels very shady.
i just like seeing peoples valve game collections
I know they aren't the best, but progress starts somewhere
According to Wikipedia, Source 2 is 9 years old or so, if I wanted to make a game on my own on it, what do I have to do ? Is it just not released ? I've looked on the internet and youtube and there's no news or anything about it or maybe I'm just not looking where I should, I don't want to make a map on CS 2 or models for other games or mods, I was thinking if it's possible to be making a game in Source 2 like The Stanley Parable was made in Source engine for example.
I was thinking about making my own game that takes place in the half life universe and will have some characters from the game itself. Would I be able to publish this on steam without anything to do with valve or i need to ask valve before using their characters?
Had to be done!
Young Wheatley gives his older self a little wholesome nose boop, whilst his core version watches below with interest 😊 (I just wanted to incorporate my AU child, adult and core version of Wheatley into the same image)
Why I, as a regular player in counter-strike, should solve this problem, throw a report that the account of a person is hacked, and the cheater disappears from the game, why it solves the problem only with cheaters who bought an account, in the region of China or Europe, they are very easy to give out, as they speak Russian or broken English).
I am not a native English speaker myself, only 2 languages Russian and Ukrainian, but very interesting what you will answer me about it?
Since Valve company, since 2015 as I registered for the first time in Steam and started playing Counter Strike, this problem has not been solved for 9+ years, why is it so bad on such a game where there is a lot of investment of collectors and TDs...
