I've been having this problem for 2 months now, i used to be able to play Elden Ring on Steam with my PS5 controller just by sticking the USB cable that came with the PS5 to my laptop. But one day, it didn't work it just show it functioned as audio device. So i followed others' guides, YouTube and reddit's old posts like uninstall and reinstall its hardware, remove the auto function as speakers, download and updated ds4 windows. NOTHING WORKS especially via Bluetooth. Fyi, my laptop is windows 10. Is there nothing I can do? Also the controller works fine on PS5.
Whenever i open the big picture and try the enable steam input controller, it just said no controller found
So i recently bought this steam controller it works fine wired and is recognized by steam and works in games but i cannot connect it to Bluetooth or the dongle it came along with , yes the dongle works.
also it has very weird behavior like it is recognized by steam while wired but not by the controller test built into windows. I've tried everything to connect it via Bluetooth or the dongles (like updating the drivers but still nothing)
Just curious as to what this subreddit thinks about this.
I am very new to the steam deck and controller configuration in general having just got it last month, I wanted to play an android game but the game in question doesn't have controller support and using touchscreen while possible is very awkward and not very wrist friendly.
As such I am wondering if there's way (preferably a guide) on how to go about doing one of the following:
Or
Not sure if it's important but I'm using waydroid for Android.
Every single game that I play that doesn't have controller support, usually can be played with controller but the right joystick is ALWAYS default at 275% cursor speed which is insane. I've been changing it to 90% for every game i play but its really annoying. Is there any way to globally save a layout i can use between games? Or globally change the settings? I've tried everything i can find in the settings...
I’ve got a really old (but fairly unused) OG steam controller. I put fresh batteries in but noticed I couldn’t turn it on. No problem, I wanted to update it anyways. I used the ble tool to update. The command prompt never got to a “finished, you’ve got BLE” which had me worried but it definitely communicated and ran files (tried twice). Also, when I unplug it still won’t stay on.
Trying to figure out what troubleshooting I can do. I am not bad with a multimeter but not sure where to begin. Is this thing toast? Any feedback on the BLE update tool? Yes I realize this discussion is probably 8 years late, but I really want another Bluetooth controller to play on my docked Steam Deck.
Thanks!
It was working just fine when I got it originally but when I got slime rancher and played it for a while I decided to play hollow knight again and it only let me play with keyboard. I’ve tried everything (I think).
So, does anyone know why the Steam controller can’t emulate an Xbox controller in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?
It works flawlessly in other games. (Except Ni No Kuni, for some reason, but that’s beside the point – or maybe not?)
Anyone have any insight?
I've had my steam controller for a month and bought it off a friend who didn't use it. Spontaneously it won't be recognized at all by my pc. I always you a cable when using it and I have tried switching the cable but nothing. Does anyone have any solution?
What are some games you used the left touchpad for movement, and how well did they play?
I have a Steam controller but I rarely use it, and never use the trackpads on my Steam Deck. I see everyone go crazy about the trackpads (and gyro) and I want to give it a serious go. What are your top games that you recommend to get used to using the Steam controller (or the Deck trackpads)? Bonus for tips on settings for the games. I know any game can be played with this, I’m looking for ones that ease you into it or are great for learning before jumping into regular game play.
Those on the right trackpad are quite weak.
Hello, I wanted to know whether dualsense or xbox is better for steam games especially fc25, topspin 2k25 and rdr2?
I browse a lot of the ergomech keyboard subreddits and such, and one thing I find that they have is a *lot* of people skilled and able to make their own keyboards (often quite bizzare) with a little bit of 3d printing and embedded programming know-how. A lot of those keyboards have build instructions, parts lists, the whole deal. Some even *use* the cirque trackpads, same as the steam controller.
We have to accept that the supply of steam controllers is not infinite and will run out. Valve aren't going to save us with the ultimate dual trackpad controller now, and the rest of the controller industry seemingly has no interest in innovation. If we want it, we have to do it ourselves.
I for one am a programmer with embedded experience. I've played minimally with the cirque trackpads a while back, but with the latest news am seriously considering grabbing them off the shelf and making something out of them. I have no idea where to acquire components like triggers, proper face/back buttons, etc, and only basic 3d modelling/printing skills, but I'm sure there must be some people far more knowledgeable about those areas and invested in their steam controllers in this reddit.
It would be so nice, at the very minimum, to have some open source STL files, a part list, code, and a build guide for a steam controller clone.
Is there a particular term for the gaming technique where you use a controller in your left hand for movement and a mouse in your right hand for aiming?
Recently i bought a new PC and have been trying games that i enjoy with MNK, originally Ive always played on controller, siege, apex, fortnite, rocket league, ive always played controller and im thinking of trying out MNK, is there any tips or advice that you guys have for improving with MNK?
A ton of sounds for start up and shutdown are still available for the controller in Modern Steam including the Portal 'Triumph' sound.
(In the top bar) Client Settings > Controller > Calibration & Advanced Settings > General
Edit - You may have to set the options once more after restarting the controller for it to stick
The box and controller were flawless, didn't look beat up.
Didn't think of checking the battery compartment. When I came back home, saw that the batteries leaked.
The contacts didn't seems to be too much affected, but tried different batterie set and it doesn't turn on.
Ok, let's try wired. I plug the original wire on the dongle and the plug the usb key, windows sees it, so cable is good.
Unplug dongle, plug same wire in the controller, steam logo lit up, but in windows, nothing, no controller detected in device manager.
So, I guess I just lost 20$ :( Will try to get batteries to turn on the controller, but if anyone has ideas to try, let me know.
We hardly know anything about it lets make sure the discourse is not too heated
So I use a PS5 controller on steam and was wondering if I can use adaptive triggers and haptics and such on any game. I know there are games that do have actual support but what about unofficial support? I saw community layouts for dbd that said dualsense but trying those didn't change anything. Is there any unofficial support or nah?
Like many of you, I'm excited for the U.S. launch of the Steam Horipad. The thing that intrigues me the most are the programmable back and function buttons which - if I'm not mistaken - work just like the back buttons on the Steam Deck. This is especially helpful for when I'm playing the Deck while it's docked and need to make a keyboard input without having to stand up and walk over to it. The only other controller I could think of that has this function is the Xbox Elite controller, and I was turned off from it 'cause it appears rather fragile.
I'm more than willing to order it online if I have to, but I'm also curious whether it'll be sold at GameStop. See, I tend to go to the mall once a week to walk around and occasionally buy some stuff, and I've been to the GS there to grab Steam gift cards and occasionally a new controller. So for me it would be very convenient to just walk in, buy the controller there, and take it straight home. Do you think they'll carry it in stock? Or is it likely to remain exclusively online?
My steam controller connects just fine to the steam link hardware. But once I open my PC to play games the controller turns off. Wh I turn on the controller it is on for a second and just powers off. If I plug into my computer I have no issues. Batteries are new. How do I fix this issue?
I'm working on using steam link to play steam games on my apple tv from my PC. I setup steam link and I've connected a joycon via bluetooth to the tv as my controller. Steam link connects and I'm able to control the menus with the joycon. However, I can't get the joycon to register any joystick inputs while in game, like the actual steam inputs aren't going through. This also happens when i do "test device inputs" in controller settings. The button presses register, but the joystick doesn't. I can't even press "setup device inputs" to try and force steam to recognize the joystick. I tested steam link through my laptop with the joycon as well, and it does successfully register inputs so it has something to do with the apple tv. Any help would be appreciated!
