Hello all, I am usually good at diagnosing issues without asking but my research on this issue has gotten me nowhere.
I am trying to use a bluetooth gamepad connected to my meta quest 3 with steam link. I am able to launch the vr version of steam link just fine but when I select the controller version I just get a black screen. I can see that the gamepad input is working on my pc monitor and I can hear the sounds coming through the quest speakers but no picture. I have tried all combinations of enabling/disabling the hardware encoding and NVFBC settings in the host settings as well as the hardware decoding setting in the client settings in steam.
This one has me stumped and any help would be appreciated, thank you.
In short, I've been able to find some useful templates and existing videos but they all seem to be in the old UI. Does anyone have some helpful tips or guides using the new UI? Mainly looking for guidance to feature the mouse scroll wheel and how to properly order sub commands, things like that. Using the app to stream WoW currently but it feels like pure trial and error right now.
Thanks!
Hello guys, to be brief, I use sometimes Steam Link to play and do little things on my computer while in not home but quite often i loose control on the pc, the display is still live but every input i try on my phone with the touch buttons doesn't work. It happens randomly. Do you guys have a solution to have the control back or some recommendations on the correct settings in the Android Steam Link app?
My Optiplex is connected via ethernet and I'm on the same wifi network (my home network). I get it doesn't work when you're away from home as it usually sucks for me when I try but now it's not even working when I'm on the same network. Normally the mbps is pretty high but now it varies but it dies about 45 mbps and I don't know how to fix it. All I get is screen tearing and that stupid red circle in the bottom corner. Any help is appreciated
So I have a Roku TV unfortunately and no steam link for it. Fortunately I had a firestick lying around and I was able to install steam link and run my games on it. But the lag was highly noticeable with RPG's. Not to mention fighting game combos were impossible.
Since my firestick is on WiFi, I suspect that its the reason behind the lag. I have 1 Gig internet, but it shouldnt matter since both the devices are on the same network. Should I look for a android box with a ethernet connection to make things better? Or Steam link is just like that. Looking for advices if Wifi is the sole reason for the lag. Thank you in advance.
I had Steam Link running V. 1.3.9 .
I removed it and installed v. 1.3.12 to see if it would get my latency down and run smoother overall which it did.
However my controller input on my dual sense is all messed up.
The Square button triggers the X in Steam (and games) the X button triggers the circle the Right trigger button seems to manipulate the Analog stick in steam.
When I test the controller in Steam link on the Amazon fire TV the inputs are fine.
When I use the DualSense with my computer connected through Bluetooth it is fine as well. But when the Dualsense is connected to the TV the controls are messed up once streaming starts. It's as if Steam Link is not patching through the controller mapping.
I bpught an meta quest3s and im kinda new to this vr thing and i got it so i can play things like blade and sorcery. But every time i connect steam link to my pc it says ''Host is connected but video is not streaming''. Please help me. PC Specs : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz ,64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable), and my graphics car is an ''intel R uhd grapics 360'' 32732 MB is avabile memory.
hi guys. so i have a question: if steam link is set to 120fps on my iPhone 14 pro and the game i’m playing is running at per exemple 90 fps. will the game be stuttering or will it be smooth?
I'm not seeing it but before I pull the trigger I wanted to see if I'm missing something?
just curious if the steamdeck revived that tech. it did not do that for me, but could it still be relavent going into 2025
Hi, I was looking on the web but no direct fixes. I successfully connect steamdeck to IPad Pro but the external mouse(Bluetooth) cursor pointer disappears. I can see highlighted items when I hover over In Steam but there is no display which makes it not usable for Heroes 3.
Please hell
I have a 3080ti + ryzen 3900x with 32 gb ram. I'm using a meta quest 3 with steam link, playing the forest VR at max settings and getting very inconsistent frames anywhere from 60-100 fps with Vsync off, meanwhile my friend using an older wired oculus on a PC with worse specs is getting a solid 120 with the same game settings. Is this an affect of steam link or do I have a bitcoin miner on my computer?
I have no idea why this is happening when it was working fine a few days ago. How do I fix this? This is Windows PC to phone.
when streaming from my steamdeck to my windows 11 computer the audio is extremely unbalanced towards the left side of my headphones and has only started doing this recently
Hi,
I'm experiencing really massive video quality and latency issues. Like, despite being set to "4k beautiful" the picture gets fuzzy and every 2 seconds the game stalls for about a second. Not an optimization issue, it's actually unworkable. Works a tiny bit better on the lowest settings (720p fast) but still too bad to be workable.
Streaming PC is able to play these games at a perfectly acceptable frame rate on the local PC, it's just streaming it runs into these issues.
Remote PC: RTX 4900, 7950x. Wired ethernet to a network switch which connects to my fiber gateway.
Local PC: GTX 1080ti, 1950x. Wired ethernet directly to my fiber gateway.
Both PCs have about 950Mbps up and down to the internet pretty consistently but I would expect the streaming to be happening over my local network (and to the best of my understanding, the low ping and and low network latency in the logs confirm that's what's happening).
Based on the logs and metrics, it's my understanding that the network itself is stable, but I'm still experiencing massive frame loss. Given the local PC has decent but not out of the world specs, I'm assuming that's not the bottleneck either.

Steam link settings on remote PC: https://imgur.com/a/uWrsdmH (sorry for the bad quality pic, my remote PC's screenshot tool gives really distorted images recently so have to take a picutre with my phone)
Anyone have an idea on how to address this or other things to try?
Thanks in advance.
Note: If you wonder why I don't just play games directly on the local PC given its specs, I'm planning to repurpose the 1080ti PC for another purpose (likely gifting it to a friend), just thought initial steam link setup and debugging would be easier if the local machine was also a PC with decent specs.
I want to buy a PCIe 100Gbps NIC (2x), one for my main gaming rig and another for my passive cooled pc which is connected to my living room tv. I'm wondering if steam link as any limitation for this setup I would be connecting PC to PC because my home networking is 10Gbps so I don't want to go through my router and I'm curious if this setup will work or if it's even worth the investment.
Other option I've considered is using thunderbolt 3 over Fibre with a docking station like Linus did in his video in which case TV would connect directly to my gaming rig.
I basically want keyboard, mouse, controller and display access to my gaming PC which is on another floor, I would be doing the wiring during renovations so just planning it out. I game at 4K 120 and main play cod.
Hello! My steam link with ps5 controller works in most games, I've tried recalibrating through the steam link app. I've also tried steam input support, and steam input disabled.. but I just can't seem to play ff14 with steam link. The only button it seems to recognize is the ps button in the center.
Anybody know how to get this to work? Thanks!
My Steam Link has an ethernet connection, this happens both with or without one. With one is improved but still massively intrusive.
Using a physical Steam Link box
I have an RTX 3060ti and a Ryzen 5 5600x.
My router is an R7000 Nighthawk.
It appears to get more severe depending on what game I load up, but the effect is always extremely noticeable even on the regular steam/PC interface.
Does not significantly change when I change bitrate limits, screen resolution, framerate. Prioritize Network Traffic on or off has no effect.

For some odd reason or another, when I use steam link it'll create a green screen on one lens (the right one) and split screens in the other, on my preview I have on my desktop to let others watch me play it looks fine so I'm 90% sure its either software related or there's a setting in my VR that doesn't allow it to see through both lenses through a single screen or something idk, works fine on everything else
I have a keyboard, mouse and Xbox Controller hooked up to a hardware steam link. All of them work except the mouse is very choppy seemingly like it has a low polling rate.
This is with the builtin steam link functionality and also with sunshine and moonlight. I also noticed the mouse pointer ghosts when moving around even within the Steamlink interface before connecting to my PC.
My question is is this a known issue with the hardware quest link. I've tried three different mice some generic mouse Microsoft sculpt mouse and a brand new steel series mouse that I know is a high pulling rate nothing I've changed has made a difference in the settings. I don't know if this was solved in the beta firmware of Steam but Sunshine Moonlight no longer function in the beta firmware of Steamlink so I'm on the base but it is otherwise it's all up to date.
it's not a bandwidth or frame rate issue as with the Xbox Controller games are smooth as glass but first person shooters are so choppy with the mouse.
I haven't bought it on the steam store but i'm wondering if virtualhere somehow gets around this.
I dont know what to do at this point. I was able to play Horizon Zero dawn at 2k for the full game. Now when I try to play RDR2 or God of war the visuals pretty much always freeze. I can hear the game in the back ground and when i go to the main PC everything is fine. I'm running on ethernet connection over 105mb. It crashes for no apparent reasons, does it on any resolution and I even capped my frames at 60fps. Im at a complete loss on what to do. I'm at a point where i'm just going to by a long HDMI and a BT antenna. any idea why its so unstable?
Has anyone had issues connecting their mouse through Steam link? Ever since i updated my damn Steam deck the mouse refuses to show up on my ipad after connecting my deck to it. The cursor only shows up on the device itself but not my ipad where its connected to
I've had the steam link for ages, always used wired Xbox controllers with it with zero issue. I moved houses and just now unpacked it and booted it on. My controllers don't work on it anymore. A light blinks on for a second when you plug it into one of the USB ports but then it's black and no longer powers on. I tried restarting it while it was plugged in and tried three separate working controllers. Nothing.
when i launch steam link using a cable it says at first. Something about 2.4z GH. Then when I hit continue, the quality becomes very bad, then sometimes it crashes. It says when it crashes. "Your oculas is receiving video, but unable to present it.. please help.
hi guys. so i have a question: if steam link is set to 120fps on my iPhone 14 pro and the game i’m playing is running at per exemple 80 or 90 fps. will the game be stuttering or will it be smooth?
Hello everybody. I have a problem with steamlink. For some reasons i can not properly use left click. For example if i am on my browser, i can interact with the website like marking text or clicking on buttons. But i can not switch the tabs. I also can not go to my taskbar and click on the windows button or the other apps. I have tried all types of mouse controls but it doesnt work. I am using my iphone to remote control my pc. Any ideas what the issue might be?
Just got and started using Meta Quest 3s and downloaded Steam VR and Steam Link everything is fine, but now my issue is im trying to just play on my PC, not the VR stuff at all and my PC wont even recognize my aux wired gaming headset as an option. All I have is "Steam Streaming Microphone" and "Steam Streaming Speakers" as well as my actual monitor for output. Any resolve on this??
Hey everyone, sorry if this has been answered before. I keep finding a lot of conflicting info and Google is being unhelpful, but what is currently the best way to stream epic games games through steam link? I've tried a lot of setting and such, but I have a couple of issues. The first issue was controls being all messed up and the games were thinking I was using a mouse and keyboard when I directly added the game as a non steam game. The next issue was when I added the epic games launcher as a non steam game to get the controller to work properly and launch the games that way. The epic games launcher window would be empty and I could click on items and such but not be able to see them. If I launched the game manually from my pc they'd just have a black screen with audio. Randomly I have gotten it to work and I am curious if there are better ways to stream them on steam link or should I use something else entirely?
I'm using the Steamlink app to broadcast from my host PC, running Windows 10, to a laptop, also on Windows 10. Most games and applications work great, but i tried launching Tiny Glade and the screenshot speaks for itself. Game is frozen on the laptop, but shows up fine and is playable on the Host's side. all mouse and keyboard movements from the laptop show up in game on the Host's screen. When i Alt Tab out of the game, all returns to normal.
I've tried changing the encoder options on the Steam settings page, as well as tweaking the game itself, but no dice. I've seen some talk online about a similar issue, but it's all about streaming from one operating system to a different one, such as windows to linux, and none of the fixes and workarounds work. The threads are also all from 2019.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Anyone have a similar experience?
Long story short I have had a steamdeck since the early days, non-oled version, but not used that much. Mostly some emulation until now. I also have an apple tv 4k and a home pc I7 3.6Ghz + RTX 3080). I'd like to do more couch gaming on my 4k TV, it's just tiring for me to sit at a desk in the evening as I am already doing this all day at work. I was wondering what solution would be best in terms of performance" using steam link locally to display on TV or steam deck docked?
Edit: I should have mentioned that for the Apple TV, I can connect it through ethernet cable. TV, apple TV and PC are relatively close.
