Looking for twin stick shooters for the deck

I'm looking for any good twin stick shooters that play well on the SteamDeck. Something like Dead Nation or Alienation.

First Steam Deck

Christmas came early to this house. Got my very first Steam Deck. I’ve always been a fan of portable gaming consoles/devices. I used to own PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo DS during my HS, college and Army years and as recently as Nintendo Switch. I’ve been wanting to get me a Steam Deck since its inception. Super excited! Also, if you have any suggestions for interesting/fun games I’d greatly appreciate that. Have a Happy Holidays!

Cheap keyboard for bootloading because I forgot my sudo password

Wondering if anyone can recommend some cheap keyboards just to get through the boot process to reset my sudo password. Literally the only thing I need it for. My custom mechanical is USB-C, but everytime I try doing my keyboard's USB-C -> Steam Deck's USB-C port the inputs are not registering :(

OverRider: Cyberpunk Indie Hidden Gem Review (Steam Deck)

I was able to get a review code for this awesome Cyberpunk 2D beat em up Rouge-like! I recorded all the climate play on my steam deck and it doesn't run solid at 60 fps but since it's in early access I'm sure it will be optimized! Check out the video and let me know what you think?

Playing OG MW2 and BO1

I’m looking into getting the og mw2 and bo1 to only play the story. However, I keep hearing that the older cod games can be easily hacked. Would that only happen if I try to play online or also with playing the story?

Problems streaming from PC to Deck

When I use Moonlight, software decoding, hardware decoding, and any codec - video will be smooth, but there will be minor input latency. In a lot of games this isn't too much of an issue, but in a game like Dead by Daylight for example where you have to hit those skill checks, the input delay is very noticeable. If I turn off vsync in Moonlight, there is a lot of stutter, so it is unplayable that way.

When I use Steam streaming instead, if I turn on hardware decoding, it seems like there is virtually no input lag (way easier to hit great skill checks in DbD), but it has video stutter. No matter the settings. If I set it to software decoding instead, it is smooth, but then it is like Moonlight where there is input delay.

Any way to get smooth video and virtually no input lag?

Based on my testing, it seems Moonlight is no better than Steam streaming now (I had tested both a year ago and Steam streaming was just bad no matter what), since software decoding of Steam streaming is same performance + quality as Moonlight streaming. But then hardware Steam stream has the virtually no input lag. So I don't think Moonlight is necessary on Deck anymore.

Which option to choose?

I'm sure this is posted a lot so bare with me. I'm looking into making a purchase before end of the year but I'm not sure which option is best.

I saw the OLED steam deck and it looks pretty sweet but I also heard about Asus rog x and a few other options. I'm looking for best bang for my buck, it doesn't have to be the fanciest. Most of my steam library is several years old so I'm not too concerned with my games not running. I think currently not most hardware intense game is Witcher 3. I do want to play BG3 so that would become the most intense. I am okay not playing at max settings as long as it runs!! I mostly play indie games, strategy (think civ) and RPGs.

What do y'all think would be the best for me?

Games will download for 30 seconds then go down to 0mbps, also deal with 'verifying game' that takes forever

Hi all, my steam deck is realllllly annoying me. If I try to download a game it seems like a near impossible task. either it downloads at 400+mbps then goes down to 0 and seems to stay at 0 for a while and maybe going back up to 400 mbps or it has to verify a game which takes FOREVER.

Just want to ask, will doing a factory reset help me with these weird performance issues? Also when I launch games they sometimes take forever to launch. It's just been really fucking unpleasant to use.

Has anyone here done a factory reset and noticed it being snappier?n

Steam Deck Gift Help

Looking for your advice everyone please!

My boyfriend has been talking about getting himself a steam deck but never done anything about it. So I am going to get him one for Christmas.

I've tried to do a bit of research on the website and looking through posts on here but I'm worried I don't get him the right one/one that suits how he uses it best.

He plays world of war craft on his PC.

Can anyone give me some help or even what to ask him to guide me to the right one. Ideally I want to keep it as a surprise.

Anyone else's partner hate them using the Deck in bed?

Much as I love using the Deck in bed the bright OLED screen keeps my wife awake even on lowest settings, so I sadly can't game in bed very often. She doesn't like wearing an eyemask in bed, which is fair enough, so it's basically off the table for me. Anyone else in the same boat? My desire to game in bed is strong, but I love my wife more lmao.

Is there any way to get Baldur’s Gate III to look okay on Steam Deck?

Does anybody have a recent settings list they could give me? All the ones online are at least a year old and all of them make the game look like an absolute eye sore. I’ve been tinkering with the settings for a couple of hours now and nothing seems to work.

Chiaki ng wrong sound...

I have sound issues on Steam Deck with Chiaki NG; the audio from the PS5 has small cuts or interruptions. My Wi-Fi is properly configured with Wi-Fi 6, and there's no problem when using PS Portal. Does anyone have a solution to this annoying issue?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Absolute noob trying to install MSFS2020

I’m currently installing MSFS2020 on my SD OLED 1TB. Received it 3 days ago and absolutely love it, but I’m a complete tech noob, and the YouTube tutorials on how to run MSFS smooth on the SD are already too complicated for me. Does anyone have or can give me a simple beginners guide on how to make MSFS2020 work and how to make it run kinda smooth? I’d really appreciate it, thanks!

I got my Steam Deck about nearly two weeks ago, and I'm just wondering what I should try on it?

I'm personally more into horror games. I love the F.E.A.R. series, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol, Iron Lung, Alan Wake, anything horror I usually eat up. But that aside, I like all kinds of games and have a Steam library of 245 games of varying genres like bullethell, anime, (J)RPGs, adventure, racing, rythm, platformer, fighter, click and point, mystery and so on. The only genres I'd say I can't really get into are MMOs and live service games; Just not really into playing online, unless it's a fighter like Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 or Blazblue. So what's everyone else enjoying?

Trying to export large clips to USB

I've been trying to export a clip that's roughly and hour and ten minutes, 5.89 GiB, onto a 32 GiB USB from my Steamdeck, but the download stops at 4.0 GiB every single time. The other half-hour clips/clips below 4.0 GiB have exported just fine, and I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, I just can't seem to figure out what. Any help is greatly appreciated! :-)

has anyone found a good quality usb3 microSD only card reader?

skimming amazon i noticed three types;
multiple card slots for lots of physical card sizes - i have that
micro only with card inserted along usbA plug - great idea but these break way too easy
micro only with microSD only sticking out the back - i want the card to be flush with the card slot
so i don't want any of these.

i want the microSD out the back or side
but i want the card completely submerged like a cellphone
not any of the card sticking out, thus flush with the case.
i have usbA and usbC adapters, so i don't care
which male plug it ends up with.

please link to something i described, thanks

update: this is the closest i found thus far;
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B0D7HFSSJW
available in usbA and usbC
notice how one lip protects the card once inserted.
there are cheap old fashion capped slow usb2
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B07GHT8SY3
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832670849249.html
that protect the card, but these are fragile garbage.
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B07416LQVM
this weird thing runs hot with too short a usbC

This Epic Mickey level is probably my most beautiful 2D platforming I've played mainly thanks to the contrasting colors on the OLED. What's your favorite 2D level on the Deck?

Game is Mickey's Epic: Rebrushed. Runs between 65-90 on Ultra, I locked it at 60 for longer battery life. Currently 50% off on Steam despite coming out a few months back.
