I signed up a new account and ordered an OLED steam deck last night . The order was accepted and the payment went through, and then today I received an email stating that the order was canceled and refunded. No reason was given, and there is literally no way to contact Steam support directly about this issue.
What to do? Is this a common thing?? I have no idea. Just want to buy a steam deck…..
hi all, please bear with me as my Linux knowledge is about as shallow as a puddle.
I've been having issues with the 200/400 MHz bug for a while, so i tried a fix i saw that said to factory reset the Deck. I decided to only reinstall SteamOS first, to see if less destructive methods solved the issue.
now, i have a different issue. I modded the Deck with an external vendor's help, to include a 2TB SSD in the Deck's internal storage. I'm pretty sure they replaced the internal storage entirely, since there's only 1 slot for SSDs. however, upon reinstalling, the Deck no longer recognises the SSD as a storage location. there's a remnant of a location called 'SteamLibrary' in Dolphin's sidebar as a removable medium, but trying to open it gives a 'wrong fs type' error.
I've tried sudo mount, but the stated path in that error (I guess it was a path the vendor set up in the past) doesn't exist. I've tried mkdir to make this directory, but the path can't be found. I've tried mkdir to create the parent path, but apparently it's a read only file system.
I have reason to suspect my SSD is configured wrongly, as the drive was used to dual boot Steam and Windows. but i really have no idea how to go about fixing it. could anyone help?~~~~
Hello! I have a launch LCD Steam Deck and last night I put my Steam Deck into sleep mode while playing a game and the next time I resumed it, the game played in slow motion for 5 seconds before rebooting and now my Deck is stuck in a boot loop.
The screen will light up, then go dark and sometimes the Steam Deck logo will pop up or a bar with "extracting packages" or "checking for updates" will show up, but the bar never fills up at all before going right back into the loop. The haptics work the whole time, and when the bars appear on the screen I can see the mouse move around.
Does anyone have any ideas? I can get to the boot manager menu if that helps, and it will shut down if I hold down the power button. Everything is stock on it, I don't have any third party plugins and I'm on the same wifi I always play on, I didn't try logging into a hotel Wifi or anything
I’m trying to connect my steamdexk to the TV using a USB C dongle, I’ve done it this way before and suddenly it’s not working.
Things I’ve tried:
Any suggestions? ❤️
Because i couldn’t add it into this post I originally made: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeckSupport/s/WqUg7t8pYX
So….touch screen doesn’t want to work. It does what’s in the video instead. Also, Thanks to the person who explained how to use the keyboard!
It started doing this kind of out of the blue. I just downloaded Dragon Age: Veilguard and it was running slow for a bit but that stopped. I can kind of use the controls but when I tried to shut it down it wouldn’t close down and I had to use the power button. (Turning it on and off via that has done nothing.) Does anyone have any clue what this is/how to approach solving this?
Bought a steam deck (secondhand) a few weeks ago, the 512gb and I’m really enjoying using it. Still getting used to using it though. But there’s a couple of things I’ve noticed that I don’t know if it’s meant to happen or if it’s an issue that needs to be looked into.
First one would be about the keyboard. Sometimes games mention it, but is there one built in to it? If so, how do I activate it?
The second would be whenever I’m buying games or adding money to my account, it won’t let me do it on the deck itself, it’ll show the page, can’t scroll or click on anything, so I have to use the Steam mobile app to add money to my account/buy games. Is that normal?
Switching to desktop mode just takes me to a black screen where I can move my mouse around and use steam, but nothing outside of that. Most of what I've seen online is relating it to decky recorder, but I don't have any decky plugins. I've tried a few other fixes with no results I'd really like to avoid a factory reset if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!
Im very confused why one of my xenia games wont start in gaming mode but the rest work fine. its in the same spot and running the same version of proton which is experimental(tried others). Any idea why?
So valves half life 2 update fucked my steam deck good. The game won't launch at all. If I try to uninstall the game it will say "failed to uninstall half life 2 due to missing shared content" can anyone help me uninstall the game or fix it??
Hello, good evening. I had a problem with my deck - a day after using an Ugreen dock, my deck's screen started showing defects and i had to RMA it.
I've done a lot of research and i'm pretty sure my deck was faulty - but i'm not positive. Is it possible the dock was the problem?
I was playing my steam deck before bed and had no issues. I woke up early and decided to play a little and it had me sign in when I turned it on. Did that and it took forever connecting and then when it finally opened, it was walking me through how to use it again. All of my non steam games are now gone too. Has this happened to anyone else before?
Yesterday they launched fine, and now they open this. I asked on another sub Reddit, and they said to right click and launch through konsole, but when I do that it does launch but it locks my mouse and I can’t tap anything on the screen. Please please help. I’m not to savvy with Linux and commands n stuff.
Hey everyone, I am currently trying to get ZZZ to run at a usable framerate. Even with all settings turned to lowest, I can't hit consistent 60FPS and get extreme stutter especially in fights.
Is anyone playing ZenlessZoneZero on the Deck and can give some advice on settings and maybe tweaks (via Powertools or something)?
Bonjour a tous,
As the title states my steam deck started to randomly drift yesterday. Nothing prior to it happened. No damage, no new software or updates that I did. I didn't have any problems with drifting before, that is why I'm surprised that it happened so suddenly. My model is about two years old its the LCD 256gb version.
What is more the drift only appears in some games. In the steam os menu there is no drift unless I press the steam button, then the drift appears, and to stop it I have to press the "b" key. Also I noticed that the d-pad is not working correctly. The right button on the d-pad doesn't work at all. The rest is fine.
When I play the binding of isaac with all dlcs it is drifting without a stop. When I play borderlands 1 goty edition it drifts only in the menu of the game and on character screen.
Sorry if the post is chaotic, please do ask questions, I can answer them to clarify all the details.
What I did for now is turning it off and on, checking for all the updates, I run the keys diagnostics in steam menu, tried to change the deadzone of the joysticks but it didnt help. Finally I decided to do a factory reset, and it didnt change anything. I also tried to clean the deck with pressured air, but without opening it, so did it around the keys.
Before I send the deck somewhere I wanted to check if someone had a similar problem or can help with this. I thought that it might be a software problem and not hardware, but now I really dont know.
Hello,
My deck bricked a while ago, screen wouldn’t turn on, I could use it with the HDMI but by the end of it (BIOS/OS flash) not even that.
It turns on, fans spinning and all that but cant get it to work.
I’m from Brazil but I bought it in Japan last year, Steam couldn’t help me other than the automatic messages, and also didn’t direct me to a support center.
Wondering if you guys know any tech assist. that I could ship it or if it’s a case that can’t be saved.
Thanks
Every time when I’m at work it never connects to my ps5 ever since I first bought it last month. The remote play is enabled on my ps and plays no problem when I’m home but when I get to work and have free time and I either connect to the work wifi or my hotspot it always says “Stream Failed”. Please help
As the title says, i accidentally lowered the resolution when trying to do something and now desktop mode is unusable, can't use the steam deck either i haf to use steam link to even get this screen😭 anyone can help me with this? When i restart the deck gaming mode works fine its just like this in desktop mode, really don't want to format my steam deck for this so any help would be appreciated
Hello Reddit people, I’m making this thread because I am wondering if it is possible to limit a game’s FPS with MangoHud.
I have two questions:
Is MangoHud installed on the Steam Deck by default?
Is it possible to limit FPS with MangoHud?
I’m specifically looking into this because some games don’t have an FPS limiter implemented in the options menu, and limiting FPS through the Steam overlay introduces quite noticeable input lag, even with “allow tearing” turned on.
In my searching through the forums I’ve found different launch option commands, but I’ve had luck with none of them. The most I’ve managed is to make a game get stuck on the Steam logo during launch.
Here are a few launch options that I’ve tried:
MANGOHUD_CONFIG=“fps_limit=30” mangohud %command%
MANGOHUD_CONFIG=“fps_limit=30,no_display” mangohud %command%
MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=30, mangoapp %command%
Have any of you had success with using MangoHud — or any other plugin — to limit fps?
Thanks!
Got windows 11 on my deck(lcd). So I could play eafc25 (I know it’s a shit game) anyways, I had some WiFi issues so I decided to buy a usbc to Ethernet adapter. Works fine on steamos but not on windows. It keeps disconnecting all the time. I tried the power management settings but to no avail. Can someone please help me out here. It’s been days of fixing shit so I can play this game..

Hey folks! Any of y'all having trouble starting up the new Dragon Age game on the steam deck? I keep getting an error that says some of the following things and I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong or if it's just a issue with it being so new (on mobile, apologies):
Assertion Failed!
Program: E:\steamapps\common\Dragon Age The Veilguard\Dragon Age The Veilguard.exe File: ..\src-wine\dlls\winevulkan\loader_thunks.c Line: 2738
Expression: "!status && "vkcreatecomputepipelines'"
Press OK to exit program, or Cancel to start the Wine debugger.
Pressing Ok or Cancel both just sends me back to the menu. Any help would be awesome!
so i just bought a new steamdeck had hard time to power it up like 2-3 tryes to get it going after that steam started to install i left it for a couple of mins and now black screen

Anybody encounter this issue and have another fix then just restarting the deck ?
Since last update, my bluetooth menu sometime dissapear, usually after I put my steam deck on sleep mode and wake it up. I press the steam button, go to setting and there's no more bluetooth tab.
It seem like it's not a new issue but it is for me. I have the basic LCD version but I've read comment from people who had this issue on other version as well, a month ago (pre-update).
Whenever the Steam Deck is completely shut down for somewhere between a couple hours to a day, I am asked to sign into Steam on the next boot.
If I were to shut down and turn on immediately, or restart, I wouldn't be asked to sign in.

Edit: Other useful information:
At some point my Desktop became something separate from /home/deck/Desktop/
. There are shortcuts in one location that doesn't exist in the other and vice-versa.
Also the shortcuts on the Desktop are widgets instead of actual files, and I don't get the same file options when I right click on the Desktop. Right clicking a shortcut gives me the option of editing the widget, but no copy, rename, open with, etc. Right clicking an empty space on the Desktop doesn't give me create new file, paste, etc.
It seemed to happen around the time that we installed Wallpaper Engine, but I don't know if that's it.
