For some reason my Deck [LCD, 512 GB] doesn't like our wifi any more. When it fails, it'll show up as not connected, and no attempt to connect is ever made again that I can see, even though it is set to connect automatically.
It does work briefly after boot, but never after a sleep–wakeup cycle. While it's running it's intermittent; might work for a couple of minutes, even a quarter hour.
Manually going into settings and reconnecting works, until the next time it's gone.
Any known issues/workarounds? The AP is a Ubiquiti UAP-AC-HD, in case it matters.
I have 2 different docks and recently I have to regularly restart the Deck while connected to the dock for it to pick the HDMI connection.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I saw a brief mention in a YT video, but wasn’t clear on this.
Is the recording feature not in the recent 3.6 release I. The stable channel?
I ask because pretty much every major and sometimes minor updates usually breaks Decky recorder for me. And since that is a feature I use often, don’t plan to update until SteamOS has that included.
UPDATE: resolved? I refreshed the download screen about 5 times and the download started.. idk
Just received a 512 OLED. trying to swap out the ssd for a 2TB ssd. Installation is complete, but i'm having an issue downloading the recovery image from Steam.
from this page https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1b71-edf2-eb6d-2bb3 > click the recovery image link > agree to the terms > click download > the page routes to https://steamdeck-images.steamos.cloud/recovery/steamdeck-repair-latest.img.bz2 but no download initiates.
I've tried firefox, chrome, safari, edge, private/incognito windows, cleared cache + cookies, updated computer. I'm on macOS 15.1.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any other troubleshooting I can attempt?
Right now it says “Unsupported”. Do you think Valve will do something to make it at least “Playable”?
Hi there, i'm trying to play TDU2 on my steam deck
I found out about Project Paradise 2 which emulates online functionality of the game and AFAIK it simply replaces previous UpLauncher.exe(original launcher of TDU2) and doesn't change anything else.
They have an instructions on how to install it using lutris, which i was able to do and play the game, BUT
it doesn't have steam achievements, so i repeated the same install process using steam with proton ge 9-14(i've tried several different versions, but it didn't seem to change anything)
I was able to boot the game and got stuck at infinite loading after starting the game, after enabling proton debug i saw this in the log file
---a lot more stuff here---
0102.845:0124:0158:trace:seh:dispatch_exception code=e0434352 flags=1 addr=7BC4A3C8 ip=7bc4a3c8
---and a lot more other stuff here---
After feeding last few dozens lines of the log file to chatgpt it said that (code=e0434352) is related to .NET exceptions (mentioning this just in case, i didn't have to install any DLLs beside DINPUT8 with lutris)
So first i tried installing dotnet35 using protontricks, i was able to run the installation, but it failed to install
i then found dotnetfx35.exe in game folder, tried running that with protontricks and it failed to start saying "You must use "Turn windows features on or off" in control panel to install Microsoft .net framework 3.5" and so i wasn't able to install it
I also tried replacing whole steam prefix folder with the one created by lutris, that fixed my infinite loading screen, but it seems like the game ignored steam_api.dll completely, which meant no steam achievements
I still have options to try and fix this, but at this point it feels like i'm walking circles and without much knowledge about wine/proton/everything else it seems like asking this here might give me a shortcut either to fixing this problem or to a simple NO, what you are doing is stupid and it wouldn't work answer
Hello! This is a question for those who play the game that uses the Honkers Railway (not gonna say the proper name because we all know why).
Once you install it, what happens when there is a major patch update? In all the tutorials i’ve seen, no one speaks about this matter and i’m a little bit worried because I don’t know if the launcher will crash, or if i have to download everything again.
Anyone who has been using this launcher can tell me what happens?
First, I started up the game after a couple of updates to check the updates out and all of my saves were gone, I thought they were just wiped so I created a new one. Then I found the file location of all my old saves which weren't showing up for me to load in-game, but my new save was not in there. I was trying to find my new save now. I ended up uninstalling the game to see if my old saves would reappear on a new install, well it deleted my new save and my old saves are still not there, I'm wondering why my old saves are not connecting to my game, where the new ones I had made are in my files and why my new save was deleted on uninstalling my game. Anyone out there that can help me?
Is it possible to set up the controls in such a way that Full Press can be activated without also activating Soft Press?
My plan is to use soft to attack and full to block
SteamOS Waydroid Installer Script has been updated!
This can also be used as an install guide! Make sure you have a sudo password already set and then do the konsole commands!
Moving forward just do the Waydroid-Updater.sh to easily clone and install the latest version of the script!
Happy gaming!
I'm writing this hoping that it will help anyone else experiencing the same problem as I had. I've noticed lately that after turning on my steam deck it would take around 2 minutes before I could start any game. After some troubleshooting I figured out the problem was related to my wifi connection, when I booted the steam deck in offline mode or when I turned off the wifi right after booting the games would start instantly. What FINALLY fixed my problem were the following steps:
In settings go all Tha way to the bottom on the "developer" tab
I hope this will help anyone else experiencing this same problem!
Valve is a multi billion dollar corporation that makes billions just by doing nothing they can 100% make this possible.

Welcome new Steam Deck owners! I'll update this video mega-list post every month to help out our new found brothers and sisters joining us on Team Deck!
I've been steadily cranking out useful (apparently, based on the comments) videos on Steam Deck for a couple of years and having a nice central post for the most useful ones made sense to me; so here it is. I did not include various "how games play on Deck" videos. My Steam Deck related playlist is here.

I was thinking about upping my game when it comes to wireless USB peripherals (2.4gz connections specifically for lower latency when possible) while using the Steam Deck docked. I have a Steam Controller that is the only USB dongle right now, but want to add a potential keyboard, mouse, and multiple other controllers (few 8bitdo controllers in mind) in the long run.
With that many devices I'd of course need another USB hub connected to the dock which doesn't have enough ports on its own. I'd guess a powered hub would be best too.
Anyone run into issues with setups like this? Will too many USB devices cause issues, i.e. can it overwhelm the Deck's USB bandwidth or something technical like that? I wouldn't necessarily be using them all simultaneously, except maybe M+KB in certain situations.
Any reliable hubs anyone has experience with that they'd recommend?
it was working fine before on 3.5, since the new update chiaki freezes the deck, and i'm experiencing a lot of weird issues with the deck, strange performances on every game, crashing when switching to desktop mode, and the boot screen animation plays twice
Over the past month or so, it feels like both my SD cards (both SanDisk Ultra 512gb) have become slower to download, but also play certain titles. I was playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and was having minor stutters when exploring and during cutscenes. The game also had some trouble loading new objects and NPCs.
I never had these issues when I first got my SD cards, but more recently so too. I've heard changing to the ext4 filesystem can help in improving performance. Does anyone have a personal experience with their SD card performance being worse over time?
(for some reason this post was automatically deleted in steamdeck)
