Just received a 512 OLED. trying to swap out the ssd for a 2TB ssd. Installation is complete, but i'm having an issue downloading the recovery image from Steam.
from this page https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1b71-edf2-eb6d-2bb3 > click the recovery image link > agree to the terms > click download > the page routes to https://steamdeck-images.steamos.cloud/recovery/steamdeck-repair-latest.img.bz2 but no download initiates.
I've tried firefox, chrome, safari, edge, private/incognito windows, cleared cache + cookies, updated computer. I'm on macOS 15.1.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any other troubleshooting I can attempt?
Super specific question here. Not sure if anyone can answer it. Anyway, I have a steamdeck used for gaming. I decided to install windows on it to save myself from buying a laptop or pc too. Trying to run a MIDI pad but none of my drivers work. I swear I installed them. I even redid the whole process to make sure. After all of the steps I can't use Bluetooth, i can connect to wireless network (it's emulating windows 10), and I need help! SOMEBODY! SAVE ME A PC! PLEASE!
Thank you everyone for the info, I'm doing some mods today when I get the chance (hall effects joystick and extremerate button replacement) since I already upgraded the storage to 1tb and installed the jsaux cooling plate back cover with fan holes.
I just love my steam deck
Hey everyone,
Would anyone know if there are any colorful vents, specifically white that exist? I have an OLED I want to tweak and think it would be a nice touch. Do these exist? Is anyone custom making these? Please let me know! Thanks all.
As I was playing a couple of days ago with my OLED, I suddenly noticed that the left thumbstick felt loose.
I opened my deck to may see whats the issue and took out the thumbstick. Than I noticed that the black plastic cap is just plugged on top of the actual stick and not secured otherwise.
As reverence i also took out the right thumbstick, there I could pull of the cap with slight force, but when put back on it sit nice and tight.
Sooo to solve the issue with the loose cap, i applied a tiny drop of super glue into the cap and put it back on the stick.
Now its tight again and everything feels fine but I was just asking myself if anyone else had similar issues?
PS: The steam deck is only a month old and wasnt used excessively.
I know, kind of an odd request, but uhhhhh I’m working on a project and was wondering if anyone had figured out the video out from the board. Is it just a ribbon cable’d hdmi cable? Or DSI?
I just recently got another steam deck and decided id deconstruct it for a project. As far as i know the screen wasnt working so it was perfect for what i want to try. Just making it a mobile pc with a built in battery. Currently theres nothing wrong with the plan except that as far as i can tell, the battery cable isnt long enough for what im trying to do. Ive asked prompted chat gpt and it said the closest comparison it cam find was a JST PH 2mm 3 pin connector. No idea of thats correct. so of i cant find or make some kind cable extension, should i try to make my own and splice wires in between the connector and original cables?
Hello everyone,
I would like to set up a gaming server with my DIY NAS. Currently, it’s running on OpenMediaVault. Here’s the configuration:
I would love to play my Steam games like on a Steam Deck via the Steam Link or Moonlight app. I’m already doing this via my PC by sending a Wake-On-LAN command remotely, and I use a VPN connected to my internet box, but I would like to do it directly via my NAS since it’s running 24/7.
I’ve tried the linuxserver.io/steamos container. It works somewhat, but it’s not perfect. I’m having issues using Moonlight, and I must admit it lags a bit.
I see a lot of solutions online like Parsec or Lutris, but OMV doesn’t have a “Desktop” interface. I’ve also seen that it’s possible to go through a VM, but the problem is that I use Docker a lot with applications like Jellyfin for hardware transcoding, and apparently, I have to choose between using my graphics card on the host or the virtual machine...
Anyway, I’d like to know if any of you have managed to achieve what I’m desperately trying to do.
If needed, I’m open to changing the OS as long as I can still use Docker.
It’s been nothing but a joy since converting my steam deck to windows 11 but when I now dock the steam deck it won’t recognize my tv or dock for audio it just stays on the steam speakers. Any way to fix this?
Since the 3050 lp can you just put it in the steamdeck, use a SD card or a external storage for an os, then put all of it in a small form factor case to get a very powerful handheld.
Has anyone tried this hall effect joystick module replacement? If so, how does it perform?
I'm currently looking at Elecgear's joystick module, and from what I read, it has issues with the maximum input value decreasing when pressing them down. What makes me interested in this is that the joystick sensors on this off-brand module replacement look suspiciously similar to the Elecgear.
Would it have the same circular maximum values as Elecgear, minus the calibration issue?
Sadly, I couldn't find any proper review on this. If anyone has tried this, please share your experience using it.
Hey! So I've had my steamdeck for some time now. I've got emulation on it, super happy with all of that. Now admittedly I'm a sucker for movies on the go, I adored the PSP for this reason but with that dead and no new movies made for it I'm looking to move on.
I wanna hot swap my SD cards and have a collection of films I can just pop in and out on the go since I like to travel and don't want to rely on WiFi or carrying a dvd book and portable dvd player.
Anyone else done this? If so what do I do?
So I've got an oled. It's great as was my LCD. I'm pretty sure that my eyes ache looking at the OLED screen anyhow. But I'm also interested in modding my deck. Shell swaps, buttons, halleffect etc. would you guys swap back? Or will there be all these things for the OLED
Any chance someone is working on a mod that allows for dual stage triggers on the OLED model?
Something similar to these (credit to u/true_gamer13)? Would love to replicate the Steam Controller instead of depending on haptics.
I've been fiddling with all of my decky plugins for over an hour, and I can't figure it out. I don't think it's any of the CSS plug-ins because when I turn them all off, this problem is still happening. My plugins are: Pause Games, Bluetooth, Power Tools, Emudecky, Auto Suspend, Battery Tracker, ProtonDB Badges, Auto Flatpaks, Animation Changer, Steam Grid DB, Storage Cleaner, Tab Master, CSS Loader, and HLTB for Deck.
I have it plugged into my CRT TV, wondering if there's any plugin or mod that exists to manually select the aspect ratio, even if it doesn't obviously scale the UI of games correctly if I could get them to shrink down to where the whole game is within the screen that would be sick
If I go to the discover all it shows is Chiaki. It won’t show Chiaki4deck so I did this and it still won’t show chiaki4deck. Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Has this been done before? Would love an led status light for the battery level with red yellow and green. I think this could be very cool. Any thoughts?
