Sub Rules

  • R1: Be respectful. No directed offensive language or personal attacks are allowed. Profanity is allowed, but not if it’s directed at others. Racism, sexism, and slurs or similar remarks are not allowed in either English or Chinese, including in usernames.

  • R2: No bad faith behavior. Bad faith behavior can include combative argumentation or statements intended to disrupt others’ points of view rather than engaging with them, attempts to provoke others into being caustic, making derisive remarks that add little value, or otherwise participating in discussions to the detriment of others. Making extreme unsubstantiated claims or sharing materials that are low in substance but high in outrage may also lead to removal.

  • R3: Media policy. Memes, images, videos, gifs, and other types of media are allowed but are strictly moderated. Media regarding real life people and events should provide appropriately sourced background context or risk deletion. On a spectrum from daily life musings to cultural commentary to political soapboxing, moderation of media will tighten. Media concerning topics that have already been discussed at length will likely be deleted. See also r/ChinaMemes

  • R4: Post title policy. Posts with low-effort, editorialized, provocative, inaccurate, sensationalist, or misleading titles will be removed and may result in a ban. In addition, posts linking to news articles or other third-party content in English must match the title of the original source or will be removed.

  • R5: No reposts / One post per topic. When posting about current events or new developments, please check if there are already other submissions on the topic. We regularly delete subsequent posts about the same topic, even if they provide additional information or context. If you would like to share additional information about something that has already been posted, please do so as a comment in the original thread.

  • R6: Posts must be related to China. Content that is only tangentially or incidentally related to China will generally be deleted.

  • R7: Submit the best source format. Submissions should be of the best available source format. For example, twitter posts should be submitted as links, not as screenshots. If your post is removed for this reason, you may resubmit it after appropriately selecting a better format.

  • R8: No meta-drama or subreddit drama. References to other subreddits that tend to cause drama, or contain Reddit Content Policy violations or other issues such as hate speech or misinformation, will likely be removed. Posts about bans or removals on other subreddits are not allowed.

  • R9: Posts with “(Serious)” flair are held to higher standards.

  • R10: Daily posting limit. Please do not make more than 3 posts per 24 hour period. Posts exceeding the limit are automatically removed, and repeated violations will result in an automated ban.

  • R11: If posting in Chinese, please translate at least the post title / 规则11:如果发布中文贴子,请至少将标题翻译成英文

Where can i find the writings/speaches of Sun Yat-Sen about the Three Principles of the People?

According to wikipedia "The most definite (canonical) exposition of these principles was a book compiled from notes of speeches that Sun gave near Guangzhou (taken by a colleague, Huang Changgu, in consultation with Sun)," but I coudn't find it to read online or to download. Do you know?

    Experiences with 本地宝 website

Hi! I am planning a visit to 3 Gorges Dam area & found Bendibao to be a very useful resource for everything from looking for housing, planning transit & planning sites to see.

Before I move further though, I noticed that it seems like they control access to the Three Gorges scenic area (or at least run tours?), with instructions to contact them on WeChat for more info. Are they an official resources, or at least well respected domestically?

Gifts to bring to Chinese family from America?

    In particular something that

    • a 60 year old man would like
    • a 35 year old man would like
    • a 19 year old girl would like

My cousin is visiting and we would like to give him some gifts to bring back for some of his family. They need to be relatively small/not burdensome to travel with. I'm not sure what sort of things I can get here in the USA that they would appreciate.

I’m based in NYC so i’m thinking some Yankees baseball caps might be nice and appropriate for all. I’m not sure what’s trendy in China anymore. Are they still into Nike or Coach? And yes, please be specific with brands, for instance “Ghirardelli” not just “chocolate”. let me know what you guys think — I appreciate any suggestions!!

    Parenting styles

Hi. I hope you all are doing well. I was wondering, if i could you have a opinion regarding parenting styles. Me, as à person Who comes from an Hispanic background, some attitudes on parenting styles puzzle me. I would really appreciate some feedback or guidance, , please.

In context, a relative had Kids with a Chinese woman. My relative and her spouse work, and often leave their children with their grand parents so they could be in safe hands.

However, when the kids get sick with commmon respiratory illnesses or other conditions, she does not seem to care that much. One time, when one of the kids went to the hospital, she even kept working extra hours, and pick their kids up later, as if nothing had happened. No :'what happened?' 'is everything allright? ", and not even a' thank you' to their grand parents.

I understand that we all pursue higher professional goals, but that got me really confused.

I would like to point out that my compréhension of this scénario is biased, and i wish to apologize if my perception is incomplète or if the way i am expressing this doubt seems insensitive.

Please, would you be so kind to help me to urderstand : In Chinese modern context, working moms and dads prioritize work over 'family', just like we do in 'Western' context?

Thanks for reading, and for your kind time.

    Cheerio !
