I am visiting from the 15-20th of December. I am interested in working at a Makerspace for a week to gain more skills, learn, and work on projects. Is it possible to join for a week? Maybe there is a Makerspace next to the electronics mall.
My china merchants bank (cmb) said in order to have a visa bank card I need 500,000 rmb in my bank balance. Is any other banks that allows me to obtain visa or mastercard?
Hi, does anyone know if there are any lounges in Shenzhen airport where economy passengers can pay to enter? We’re travelling LHR>SZX>BKK with a 7 hour layover between 5pm and midnight. Thanks!
Hello! I am planning a two-week trip to Shenzhen in the second half of February and I was thinking I should ask locals about that...
Here's my plan for now:
- out of the 15 days, I am planning 11 to explore Shenzhen
- 1 day for a Guanghzou day trip (leaving from Shenzhen North or Futian station?)
- 1 day for a Macau day trip (leaving from Shekour harbor?) - also, if anyone knows of a ferry that doesn't cost 150 USD both ways, I would like to know! 😂
- 2 different day trips to Hong Kong (leaving from Futian station?)
(I will always be sleeping in Shenzhen)
I understood that Shenzhen has great public transport so it's not so important to stay in a specific location, only being close to a metro station seems important.
But still, would you recommend a specific neighborhood, that will allow me to explore the city, while still being close to train/ferry stations for the day trips I plan?
Thank you in advance for your help ☺️
New mom here in Shenzhen wondering if there are activities, play dates/ hang outs for mom and baby under 6 months.
All of my friends, that i use to play with left back home or moved to other cities (M45 if it matters)
I've been doing an e-commerce business for over 4 years with Chinese & it has been such a roller coaster for me. The mindset of some people to completely lie and gaslight to you just to accept your order and do a mediocre job is something I stuggle to accept till this day. There are surely some decent manufacturers who do things as they say & deliver things in time, however, there is still a vast majority (subjective personal obvservation) of chinese who just say nice things to your face & then struggle to keep up with the agreements.
What is bothering is that nobody wants to sign contracts and accept penalties for any delays or poor quality product. To me, it feels it is still such a primitive mindset of doing business: just taking the money and not giving a shit about your client...
I heard similar stories from different business owners doing business with Chinese and they have more or less same experience even Chinese business owners too!
I've been told If I want to do business with Chinese I have to play "games" with them in order to earn respect & get what I want, like drinking, toady them & their business etc
As a westerner, it honestly blows my mind...so I wanted to ask my fellow businessowners, how do you guys manage productive relationship with your Chinese colleagues?
Any advices how to adhere Chinese manufaturers to stick to concrete deadlines would be greatly appreciateed!

Have a successfull business everyone!
THATS IT!

Does anyone know if there are any gravel cycling routes near Shenzhen.
Many thanks!!
I have heard rumours they are reopening or have already opened coco park bars.
Any one know what they have upgraded? What it looks like etc?
Is this an electronics market or just residential buildings?
Trying to view satellite images and I’m very conflicted of what’s here
I recently travelled from Jeju to my final destination, transiting in Shenzhen. Both flights were around 4 hours each, with a 17.5 hour transit.
My passport has visa-free entry to China for certain days.
My flight was booked via Trip.com and I used the details provided to book transit hotel via the Shenzhen Air global site > Self-service > Transit accommodation.
Confirmation email received promptly stating my accommodation will be at Hanting Hotel (Bao An International Airport).
Fast forward to the flight, I was assured that my check-in luggage will be checked through to my final destination even though Trip.com mentioned i will likely have to self collect my baggage. Tickets for both flights were also printed at Jeju.
Upon arrival at Shenzhen Bao An, I asked every relevant staff about my luggage. Most of them were unsure except one at the conveyor that assured me that international transfer luggages will be checked through. Another traveller with Vietnam as final destination was also told the same.
Was randomly selected for health check. A simple swab and data collection.
I was told to go to Departure counter E24 to get further info on my transit accommodation. The friendly staff made a call to check on the transport and told me to wait nearby (as I didn't have a Chinese number) for the next shuttle at 10.30PM.
Another friendly staff walked me to the shuttle. It picked up more passengers. Then proceeded to drop us off at our accommodations.
Rooms are usually sharing (2 pax) but I guess they had vacancy and I was a foreigner so I had the good fortune of having the room to myself. Very basic, a little dated and cleanliness could have been better but the sheets were clean and bed was good.
Breakfast provided. Quite a variety (Chinese style, of course). I was delighted.
Shuttle back to airport included on the hour.
Explored the airport a bit and noticed the food prices on the left are slightly cheaper than the right (where Food Republic is).
Happy with my experience. Couldn't have asked for more for the price I paid.
Was amused by how they scoop chilli from a jar and had extra preserved veges during meal service in-flight.
Hope this helps anyone searching around like me a few months ago.
None of my friends (not much tho) were available tonight but don’t feel like staying home alone. Anyone there in Shenzhen? Japanese/25
Hi folks, just wonder if there will be any LED light shows at the civic centre of the Futian district on 29/30/31 Dec this year? What I found out from webs was that lights shows only run on Friday and Saturday nights. 29th is a Sunday so no light shows I guess but just expecting if they would run it on 31 Dec (Tuesday) as it is English new year eve to welcome 2025. Anyone knows or recall anything from last year? #lightshows #shenzhen
Are there any escape rooms in the area that are English/non-linguistic/Mandarin-light? We'd have a combination of English-exclusive speakers and Mandarin-English bilingual, so some language dependency could be navigated.
I know escape rooms in general aren't super common, but I've seen some.
Hi Shenzhen family,

Have heard mixed things on whether a HK-ID is needed to purchase a HK-Sim (in HK) which includes coverage in greater-China (at least PRD-area)?
What about adding the option that includes a Chinese-phone# (does that require HK-ID)?
Any recommendations on provider? 3HK, China Unicom, ... Typical rates?

I wanted to ask some advice. My mother passed away recently from dementia. She has a bank of china account in Shenzhen with some funds still remaining. I am her son and next of kin. I have all her info ie death cert, will, bank card, ID etc. Is it a difficult process to get access to these funds? Due to her dementia she didn't write down her bank PIN code so I don't have that info.
Any of you ever encountered a situation like this? Many thanks
