Hello everyone
Just a curious question, how is the expat dating scene like in Suzhou?
Is there a website where one could meet people ? Is it common for people to have prejudice towards dark skinned women? How open minded are people here generally?
Any recommendations of places to meet other single people ?
No married or partnered people please. Thank you
Either dance classes or socials?
Are there any good toy stores near Times Square? Looking for stuff like Pokémon/Lego/Nintendo. Tried maps but didn’t find anything nearby
Hi folks, I'll be visiting family in China, Suzhou specifically, for about 1.5 months in the spring and wanted to know if you had recommendations for a gym / fitness centre in the Suzhou Industrial Park area? I'll be pretty close to the subway station itself. I mostly just use free weights and a few machines like the squat rack and lat pull down. If there's any that can accommodate a short term membership like mine I'd appreciate the recommendation!
Anyone here work at an international school that might have art teacher positions opening up for the 2024-2025 school year?
Bagels. I recommend the cheese bagel. Breads. Cake. Xiangmen outside mall on Giangian Road. Across from Suzhou University entrance. Line 1 subway. There’s a big wall to climb as well. It’s an outside mall. Free WiFi. Nice bathrooms. The bakery is next to a Godiva store set to open. I can only post one picture sorry.
I'm moving to Suzhou this year around summer. I know the air quality is not great but I was looking at some historical data and it seems that during the first 2 months of 2024 are worse than 2023 by comparison.
I'm looking at Zhágāng chǎng, Suzhou Air Pollution: Real-time Air Quality Index (aqicn.org) data. Is there a specific reason for the reduced air quality this year? Is this expected to continue being a worse year than 2023? Are there any measures in place to improve according to the government?
Is Pan House Whisky and Cocktail still in business? It is in the former residence of Shi-En Pan.
Hey ya'll,
My wife and I just moved over here to Suzhou, and I would love to meet new ppl to show us the town. I love board games, shisha, doing activities and general goofing off. If anyone has any wechat groups, or anything, hit me up. We have three cats, and they would like to be pet by more people.
DM me
Peace.
Hi,
I'm writing here to get some general tips and maybe contacts to help me during my first ever visit abroad (alone) while at work. I have never been in China and plan to go there by work, so most stuff will be solved (logistics and stuff) but I want to be prepared for what to come since I live in scandinavia today.
hey do you guys know a clothing store brand or some stores where you can find quite afordable streetwear, vintage and co pieces? i thought in china those arent pretty rare but i havent found one yet so pls let me know your experiences
Does anyone know what documents they're going to ask for to exchange an X1 Visa into a residency permit? I know I need to inform them of where I'm living but I was reading and it says different PSBs need different documents.
Guessing a scan of my passport at the bare minimum and probably proof of address? Also, should I go to the bank before the PSB because I'm guessing they'll hold my passport for a few weeks (and then I won't be able to get an account until I get the passport back?)
Cheers !
Hey guys! Can anyone add me to any existing wechat groups for foreigners in Suzhou?
Can anyone recommend any stores that sell affordable luggage in the city, all I can find seemed to be higher priced western brands. Looking for medium sized spinner checked bag.
I need to get a Chinese document translated for the U.S. govt and probably chopped. Chinese to English. The place I used before in the city center vanished. Anyone know of a place does this and the cost ?
Hey! My wife and I have a three-month-old baby and we don’t know any other expats in Suzhou who have a baby so we feel a little isolated in this regard. We’d love to be able to meet other new parents who are in the same situation that we could talk about baby-related stuff with. Anyone out there?
Any one know?
I've got an offer for this school, 19k to 21k after tax

Any one know of any good crossfit box's or gyms with similar equipment? And websites or where to find info on them Thanks for any help
I’ll be there for a month, looking to have some good drinks and food. Please suggest some places. Thank you 😀.
My favorite bag broke a wheel. Nothing I can fix myself but I would like the wheels replaced. Looked around and been here a while but can’t recollect a luggage repair shop. Anyone have a locale for a repair shop ? Unfortunately Decathlon doesn’t sell these bags anymore so I can’t just go buy a new one.
I used to buy bagels from these nice older people had a shop called Big Bagel in Horizon across from Suzhou Center. Went there a few weeks ago and their shop is gone. Any suggestions for a good bagel ? Supermarket bagels suck. Baker and Spice never have any it seems. Tim Horton bagel weren’t so good looking. Paris Baguette not so good. I need a good bagel for the cream cheese and lox with a few slices of onion and tomato. 🥯
