I have researched a lot and came to conclusion that there isn’t anymore food streets like Wangfujing street years ago. Is this correct? I was really looking forward to trying out and exploring different foods. Specifically food items that were from Wangfujing. Is there any place that you might know of please let me know Thank you! (yes I’m a foreigner)
Just wondering if there are any malls in Beijing (around Fengtai) that have a Miniso store? Thanks a lot!
Is there any English speaking nanny around in Beijing? I am looking one for my newborn.
I’m trying to find somewhere to practice playing guitar/vocals. Bonus if it also has studio services.
I live in Haidian district but I’m willing to travel elsewhere if it’s a reasonable distance.
If anyone can point me in the right direction or even give me the correct mandarin translation to search for it myself, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Anyone knows who can provide online couple therapy . It's better English speakers Thanks
Hi,
Will be in Beijing from the 10th to the 17th. I'm French (thanks to my nationality I don't even need a Visa can you imagine?!)
I was wondering what was the main spot to see for the two last days of the Chinese New Year. Especially for the Lantern Festival.
Also, if you have any great places to eat to suggest, I'd love to hear them. Same for places to visit, buy gifts and jewelry, etc. I'm preparing for my trip right now.
Big fan of the culture, so I'm ok to hear some very touristic answers. :)
Already on my list:
- Temples,
- Parcs,
- Great Wall,
- Forbidden City & Square

Was wondering if a roundup trip to Xi'an was possible in a day - maybe you'll have an answer?
Thanks, everyone!
Just wondering why Beijing ain't snowing this year?
Hey everyone, just trying my luck here…
I’m (M29) an exchange student in Beijing for 6 months, just arrived and even though I know some people here, I’d still like to meet people who are into politics, IR, history and so one maybe to grab s beer or something, let me know!
I live in Chaoyang at Jianguomen.
I have nothing to do for the next few days and am so bored. It's cold, so I'm holding off on outdoor sightseeing (Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Great Wall, etc.) until it warms up and is prettier in the Spring. I was hoping to do the National Museum sometime this week, but tickets are sold out.
Any recommendations for cool indoor places to see (preferably cultural places)? Or even outdoor places/parks that are still pretty in the winter? Even if they're like 1-2 hours outside of Beijing. :D
Hey everyone, my friend and I just applied for the Zhongguanyuan dorms at PKU and unfortunately I didn't get in, it was closed in about 5 seconds! We're now planning on going flatting in Beijing, probably in Wudaokou since it's the closest, is anyone else in this situation? We're looking to meet people and still want to have a good social life even though we're not in dorms.
Hello, I will be in Beijing for about a week and was wondering if there were any bookstores that cater to foreigners or Chinese bookstores that have some English books.
I am looking more for books about Chinese history, politics, or culture. I am also interested in some books from the Chinese Foreign Language Press.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Heyyy I'm bringing 5 friends over to Beijing from Europe (we're ~20 yo). They've never been there before, and I have only been a couple times. We're staying there for ~10 days before moving to the countryside, and I'm planning on making them visit the obvious usual tourist attraction. That'll be a lot of fun, and I know my way around them, but what I don't really know about is group activities in Beijing (I've only ever been there alone). Do you have any recommendations ?
Maybe some museums that might be fun for a group of young people ? We study science, so maybe a museum related to that (I know there are lots but I have no idea which is best) ?
Or bars (I only know about the ones with live groups in Houhai) ?
Basically if you had a group of young people coming to Beijing for 10 days, what would you have them do haha ?
Hi guys, I will be having a scale of 17 hours, basically landing at 5am and leaving at 9 pm, I am wondering what recommendations you would have to visit and see places in a day, I was thinking of just going to universal studios and spend the day there, but I wanna know if there’s something I can’t miss! PD: also any recommendations on how to move (train, uber, etc) would be very helpful as well!
I ! Do you know where I can see fireworks near from Beijing ? I know it’s ban, I always got this answer, but there must be a closest place where it’ s not banned !
Thanks !
May the force be with you
Need a cold beer and some good times!
Hello everyone me and my boyfriend are visiting Beijing as holiday trip. I lived in south China so its not first time for me but definitely first time in BJ. So I would love to know what do recommend to see but not too touristy and which part of the city is best to stay especially because it's my boyfriend frist time in China and I would love him to feel more local life. What day trips would you suggest.
As the title. Any recommendations before Wednesday?
I have a layover with a flight going back to my country at 2 pm from PEK, entertaining the posibility to actually see something from China since I havent been there since bicycles was the main way of transportation :D
Thinking about visiting the forbidden city.
What I figure out is that I would have to be at the airport latest 12 pm and probably travel from the city around 10:30-11:00 am.
So my plan would then be there 0830-10:00 in the forbidden city and maybe 30 min at tiamin square before grabbing transportation to the airport.
Is it sufficent with time or would I just rush it?
Is there long queues to the forbidden city before it opens?
Do I need more than 1 hour from forbidden city to PEK a weekday from 11 am?
Arrival at aiport 2 hours before flight enough of time?
Hello,
My friend and I are visiting Beijing this may. We would like to stay a hotel that has smoking rooms available but online searches have not been helpfull so far. Does Beijing still have hotels that have smoking rooms or have they all been banned?
We know smoking is bad and unhealthy, so no need to comment anything regarding that.
The Amap shows not much traffic in the evening. My flight is at 1 am today at terminal 2, is 2.5 hours before the departure enough ?im worried due to CNY
Hiiii, so I was thinking about getting some pearls for a gift before going home the 31st. Does anyone know if the pearl market is open during the holidays? Hongqiao pearl market? Only the pearl section
Does anyone know if there are still any night markets in Beijing? Or maybe street food markets in the day?
Does anyone know a place where I can get bespoke made earrings in Beijing? Would ideally like them to be made of gemstone. Have a budget of around 1-5k.
Thanks for any leads!
Hi!
I was told I can't bring aosept/ clear care onto the plane. I need to buy it as soon as I get off the plane. Can someone please tell me if I can buy it at any pharmacies, or is it some rare relic that can only be purchased online and delivered?
Thank you !!!!~
My old haunt from 10 years ago. I don’t care if it’s busy. I just wanna relive trauma lol. I’m asking about the techno club at worker’s stadium btw.
Dear r/Beijing,
I'd like to visit your beautiful city this February for two weeks and seek to take a couple classes during my stay. I'd like some 1 on 1 tutoring for something like one or two hours per day (up to 4-5 times per week).
My online search thus far had some results but a lot of the school websites are not up to date or seemingly don't exist anymore (or maybe I'm looking in the wrong places), so I'm unsure about what prices are reasonable or what the best search approach would be (i.e. how to best find schools or private teachers in Beijing). I would like to avoid online classes and wouldn't mind commuting somewhere (a chance to see more of the city).
What would you fine people suggest me? And how much should I reasonably budget (price per class)?
Thanks so much in advance for any help!
