Hi all,
Only Couple visiting no kids so able to move around
Visiting GZ in March, anyone has any tips or tricks to adhere by? Are there malls like MBK malls like in Thailand? Any shopping areas to recommend or must see ?
Which hotels or areas to stay in for ease of access ?
Any foods that we must try ? It’s our first time there and pretty excited to explore all the shopping areas ! Will be there 10 days ^^
Hi y'all. I'm gonna be visiting HK for a while later this year, and was wondering if a day trip to Guangzhou is possible/worth it. I am a polish citizen, so I have visa free entry for a certain amount of days so visas aren't an issue. From what I understand there is a HSR that takes about an hour to get there, so departing early and coming back in the evening should be feasible. I probably won't have the time for a overnight stay, which is why I am wondering if just an extended day trip makes sense.
My siblings are in year 8-9 and we're moving to Guangzhou from Malaysia, i want them to finish their school so i want to find a suitable school for them, was hoping if there's any non international school or schools that are not expensive. cheers!
Hey all -
I’m here visiting my wife’s family from the US. We’re also going to Xi’an and Shanghai (just to keep in mind for recommendations)
I wanted to get a tailored suit and advice on how the quality is if anyone has experience
Also recommendations would be appreciated for tech gadget shopping, home decoratives (artwork, rugs, etc), and gifts for the family/friends/coworkers. If theres anything else to shop for that’s unique to China in general vs the US, I’d appreciate it. Is it also fair to assume I can ship larger items back to the US?
Thanks!!
Hi all, first time to GZ. We are travelling as a fam (7 adults, 2 kids around 10-12yo) to GZ end of feb/beginning of March. Just an impromptu plan during CNY so we are looking into flights and accommodations all. Would appreciate any kind of advice or tips for this travel especially on the below items if you have any experience since most posts we have came across are in Chinese :) tqvm
Purpose of the trip: parents wanna visit clan ancestral hall and just general sightseeing
Length: probably 4-6 whole days depending on itineraries (landing in the morning, departing at night)
May not be heading to HK if parents /kids are tired. Most likely a more laidback trip for food, shopping and chill :)
Truly appreciate any helpful tips while I'm also trying to google for all these 😊 tqvm
Hi all - first timer in China here. I'll be staying in a hotel in Tianhe in March and want to get the high speed train to Beijing. Looks like the fastest trains are at 08:38 and 12:13.
Firstly, what's the best way to get to the station from Tianhe (I'm staying near the Guangdong Museum)?
I'm also concerned about the traffic - which train would be easiest to get and what time should I leave Tianhe and aim to get to the station?
Any other tips very welcome. Thank you.
Planning to attend the GZ Canton fair on the 1st to 5th of May. I can converse in simple mandarin but lack the ability to read mandarin. What are some ways to get a fellow translator? Is there any locals willing to show me around! Will compensate, would love to see the beautiful city too!
I'm in the business of selling female clothings and accessories such as bras, underwear, IPL machines etc. Are there any other states that i should consider visiting?
Where in Gz can I buy Chinese traditional clothing? For men
I'm not staying at a hotel in GZ for the first time, as I'm with a friend. I know that hotels register for you, when you check in, but I'm unsure how to register at a police station. Maybe there is even a website or an app or wechat channel for this purpose?
Thanks for any hints
I am moving to Dong Guan in the next couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any connections to a local boxing or martial arts club? Even just a gym would be great. I also wondered if anyone offered tuition in Cantonese, I have a very basic grasp of mandarin but looking to improve. Again based in Dong Guan but willing to travel into Guangzhou. Also looking for friends and to hang out. Many thanks!
Are there any good sushi spots in GZ. I've had such meh experiences with the sushi I've ordered. I'd hate to have to cross the border for california rolls.
Hey everyone,
I’m interested in applying for a bachelor’s program at Sun Yat-sen University and was hoping to connect with someone currently studying there. I’d love to get some first-hand insights into the application process, admission requirements, and any tips for international students.
If you’re studying there (or have applied before), could you share details about: • The entry requirements (GPA, language proficiency, required documents, etc.) • How competitive the admissions process is • Any specific advice for international applicants • Your experience studying there so far
I’d really appreciate any help! Feel free to comment or DM me. Thanks in advance!
Hey, does anyone know some Western restaurants and bars that will be open tonight, especially in the Tianhe, Zhujiang Xincun and Taojin areas? I know Hooley's will be but not other places. Thanks.
Hi, any suggested budget 1 Day itinerary in GZ? Does the 8hr private car charter worth it for 100USD? or is it much better to take a commute/walk?
I've already booked a Hotel near airport. And have plans to visit Canton Tower at Night.
25M solo from California with elementary mandarin planning my trip.
This is what I have so far:
I've been told if I'm going to HK + SZ, it's not necessary to experience GZ. WDYT?
we are going there for 3 days from Hong Kong. we want a hotel that's near hot spots and canton tower. Taking high speed rail. Which station should I book? guangzhou north or south? sorry I don't have much idea..since it's my first time going there. I also want to smoke shisha, is there any good hookah/sisha lounge?
Hello everyone,
I wanted to go to the Chen clan today (28jan) but why is there so many people queuing? Is that a tradition during CNY ? Or is it normal?
Curious if something like this exists, in English preferably :)
Any ideas?
When do the marketplaces open again? Because they are closed because of CNY
I'm in Huadu District and how do I find local events in the area for the Chinese New Years ? how about in Guangzhou? Not sure if people will be out and about or all home. Thanks.
Hi! My fiancée is heading back to Guangzhou with his family. I asked if he can bring back items for our wedding, specifically for our tea ceremony. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find decor and high quality tea ceremony items? Looking for a tea tray, tea pot, cups, kneeling cushions. Preferably porcelain drink ware! Also open to recommendations for the best tea to be served at the tea ceremony :) thank you so much!
I arrived today in guangzhou to see the celebrations and also take some photos with my old camera. I now have an issue with the camera where I need to access the bottom plate and that requires me to obtain a small Philips screw or to find a camera repair shop that would be open during these times.
The locals I've spoken to before I discovered my problem said some shops might be open early on the day. Due to my lack of familiarity to the region and country and panic due to my camera not working I'm desperate to find either a camera repair shop or a store that sells tools tomorrow so I can fix my gear before the festivities.
Could someone please help me locate a store that would be open tomorrow in the guangzhou/foshan region?
Hi I’ll be layover for 3 hours in Guangzhou airport this week for a transfer flight.
I hold visa free passport.
Do I have enough time to visit downtown/city? I saw it’s only 30 min to downtown by metro?
Don’t mind if is only 30min for short sightseeing.
Any recommendations?
I just arrived and will be in Gz for the next days, I’m a solo traveler from Norway 🇳🇴 and work as a lawyer but on vacation here. Anyone wanna meet up, the city and country is new for me

I don’t have any vpn but I can use my Facebook & Reddit and others.
I have T-Mobile Go5G plus.
I have a broken crown which needs to be replaced or possibly an implant as some of the surrounding tooth has broken. Anyone had that type of work done in Guangzhou and can recommend the dentist?
