I’ll be in Shanghai studying at NYUSH for the next couple months. In addition to this education is really like to take a cooking class or two. Based on my schedule weekends are probably easier but would try to make anything work.
Anyone have suggestions?
Hi, so I’m 27(F), I’ve stayed in China for 5 years in a different city. I’ve visited Shanghai once but when I was young and I’m going back again in July for a couple of days. I’d like some recs on museums/art galleries/cafés(im a vegetarian) and also gardens. I love reading, I’m a doctor and I’m into anime if that helps hehe Thank you🥰
Hi guys,
I have arrived to Shanghai today for a long business trip (44 days) and am wondering how to go about washing clothes here as my hotel is obscene when it comes to laundry pricing.
I have found a service called EasyLifeLaundry, but the fake endorsements you can find online do not exactly scream bingo. The gist of the service would however be perfect for me, if it worked. Anybody got any experience with them?
Or, is there a chain operating in Shanghai where I could bring my bagged up dirty clothes and pick them up the following day (or two)?
Thank you!
Hello everyone, a group of us Canadians will be visiting Shanghai May 24-26 staying in Shanghai Pudong on the river. We will be looking for silk market, pearl market, where we can buy fake items. Also any recommendations for a day boat tour, and or a nice restaurant for Saturday night. Thanks so much!!!
Maybe it doesn't exist anymore as I can only find articles from 2019, but if it does, does anyone know where this robotic bubble tea bar is located in Shanghai?
I would like to know is there anyone here who got admitted to Fudan University with Confucius Institute Scholarship or International language teacher Scholarship?! Thank you!!
Hello all,
I will be in Shanghai later this month for a week on work, hopefully I expect to have some "me" time. Besides the cultural sightseeing I have already planned, I was hoping to find a place to train CrossFit (specially early morning, like 5h30-8h, before heading to work). Any CrossFit/boxes in the area of Xuhui, or easily accessible by public transport that you could recommend would be excellent 😊 Tk all
Does anyone know if there are any stores selling Sim cards for tourists in Hongqiao airport? I fly in next week so I'm hoping I can find something. Thanks!
Hi everyone I’m in shanghai for 3 days and I’m looking for certain things:
Bonus: some places to go shopping for things you can’t get in Europe/US (clothes, jewelry, etc. is it worth getting gold here?)
Feel free to drop things you like doing in general on a day off, touristy or not
Thanks!
Is this restaurant closed permanently? Do they have another location that is open? I really enjoyed the food. 九江路399号 邮政编码
Looking for any opinions on Living Word Shanghai Bilingual School, good or bad.
Salut !
Me and my Chinese wife live in a remote area in Southern France and will soon visit the Chinese family in September. As we live quite far from embassies in Paris and Marseille, what are the most reputable visa agencies that could help us get the job done without breaking the bank ... remotely?
Merci

Shanghai based filmmaker (with feature film credits) looking for an aspiring actor/actress interested working on a experimental short film that might turn into a feature. No budget, we're talking past time passion project that's also an exploration of our great city and its citizens. There are specific scenes but most of it would be improvisational, we'll choose locations and situations and do it in a workshop style but on locations. Looking for 3-4 people to form a small collective and share credits later on. Think French new wave, loose and free flowing with existential themes and abstract imagery.

Have been trying to purchase tickets to Disneyland Shanghai for the past 3 days. it always returns an error "The bank card has a risk control problem".
I have tried with different bank cards, different browsers, different laptops, different networks and on the Disney app but it always returns the same error.
Contacted Disney and they said there is nothing wrong with their payment system. Contacted my bank and they confirmed that there has been no charge attempts.
Has anyone faced this or a similar issue?
Having a specific date to go during our short trip to Shanghai and would be lousy if the tickets were to be sold out before I can find a way to solve this. Thanks for reading.
Hello everyone,
I recently got accepted to the MBBS program at Fudan University, and I'm excited to start this new journey. However, I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with:
Does anyone have access to or know where I can find the curriculum for the MBBS program at Fudan University? I'd like to get a better understanding of the courses and structure of the program.
In the first year, will classes be held at the Handan campus or the Fenglin campus? I want to plan my accommodation accordingly.
Is it possible to get a single room accommodation, or are the options limited to shared rooms?
Lastly, I'd like to know about the overall experience of studying MBBS at Fudan University. Is it a good choice, or are there any drawbacks I should be aware of?
Any other hints please
Any insights or advice from current students or alumni would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
I’m nearing the end of a two week trip through China and I’vee seen a lot of locals play Mahjong in the streets, parlours and squares. I ‘d like to buy a set as a souvenir but haven’t been able to find a store so far. Can anyone recommend a good store near Xuhui district in Shanghai?
Was doing some research on xiaohongshu on how to take taxi or didi from the airport and all I got were taxi scams to avoid. From what I read, one should walk to the taxi area by following the signboards and ignore anyone that tries to lead you otherwise, someone even posted about people pretending to be airport staff! Only take the 3 major taxi companies Hai Bo, Da Zhong, Qiang Sheng. Getting stressed out just from this 😭😭😭
Rather random question. I'm at the end of spending two weeks across China, and loved it! Throughout the whole time I've been looking out for good quality trinkets to pick up to remember my visit. We've picked up some great stuff, but are missing some objects related to bao, pangolins, and giant salamanders.
Does anyone know of a good store I could visit in Shanghai that might have some hats or plushies etc that might have those themes?
Thank you for any advice 😊
See title. They are checking everywhere: my workplace, my apartment complex, the studio I rent with a friend.
Hey everyone here, I was born in shanghai but I moved to New Zealand at 15 and to the Netherlands at 19. Now I am back in Shanghai, searching for a job and trying to explore the life in this beautiful city.
I speak native Chinese and I am very familiar with all forms of Chinese social media& functional platforms (maps or food rating apps). I am open minded, creative and easygoing!! I love parties, museums, shisha and abandoned places.
Looking for people (any gender/age/nationality/ethnicity/religion/sexual orientation) to go out for a walk, drink, clubs, museums etc.
I just have a question regarding the metro station in Shanghai. I am planning to do a day trip in Suzhou and Hangzhou and I’ve booked a hotel near The Bund particulary in North Sichuan road. Can some please let me know if this is the correct route to travel to Suzhou:
Also, after arriving at HRS, do we still need to transfer to another station? Or thr highspeed trains going to Suzhou are already there and we just need to wait for the boarding time?
E-scooters are everywhere. But where can you find electric bicycles? Physical store prefered. Any Chinese brands that are better than others?
I’ve seen photos of the giant purple Eva somewhere in Shanghai from 2018, I’m wondering if this was just a pop up exhibit or if the statue is still up?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a modern nicer spa in shanghai that’s not crazy expensive. I want to get a massage, facial, body scrub, and maybe one of those head spa things. Also no funny business
Thanks!
Hi!
I never expected to amass help this way, so please bear with me as I navigate the awkwardness.
I lived in shanghai for 2014-2018 as a student and left after graduation. Fast forward to now... I'm married to an American and we're thinking of applying for the US Green Card. We submitted a police record from the exit entry bureau but the US immigration asked for TWO police records... We asked for clarification, but they didn't explain what are the two police records... We did some digging and we thought maybe they meant police and court/prison records...
The problem is, we're not in China at the moment and would really love help obtaining the police and court records and have them notarized. We understand it'll take your time so I'm willing to pay for the service. Alternatively, if you have any agency recommendations that charges reasonably, I'd like to hear it too.
I'm so sorry for bothering y'all in advance but thanks thanks so much.
A while back my parents (white couple) opened up a bakery in shanghai, it was a little place, sold cinnamon rolls. We moved back to the states, ran it over here, like a couple years back my old man finally decided to sell it, and i was wondering if its still open and running. The name is (or was) Cinnaswirl. Last I know it was next to a grilled cheese sandwich shop and a japanese restaurant. Just wondering, i’m in college now and i was feeling kinda nostalgic.
Planning a trip for september. China and Shanghai particularly are a possible goal.
