Anyone experience with switching phone carrier? Which one is best? Can I switch while keeping the same phone number? What is the process like in China?
Hi! 18F, born and raised in Australia but Chinese ethnicity-wise. I'll be going to Shanghai for a month in 2 weeks and I'm wondering if there's any WeChat groups I can be added to?
Solo meetups are okay, but only if you're a female. Sorry guys!

Does anyone know of any physical dive shops in Shanghai? I need to buy new fins. But because I dive with booties, I’d rather go to a physical store to try them on rather than play the guessing game on Taobao. I found a few dive shops that offer courses on the PADI website- just can’t figure out if they have equipment for sale on site, too. Thanks!
Hello everyone!
I’m a European Law student and I’m interested in doing an exchange at ECUPL, strangely enough I have not found a single post / website where people speak on their experiences here!
As you can imagine, that makes me reconsider going to ECUPL which I find unfortunate becausd Shanghai sounds amazing.
Anyone that wants to share their experience here / can tell me where I can read about people’s experience? Have had zero luck with Google, Tik Tok, Reddit and LinkedIn.
I'll be heading to Shanghai on Dec. 6th and will be staying there until Dec. 21st! Asking this subreddit for suggestions for concerts to check out between those two dates. I'm mostly into rock, metal, pop-punk, J-rock/animusic, and city pop, but I'm fairly open to other genres as well, both popular and more off-the-beaten-path.
I was in SH for work 6 years ago and ended up joining a random pickup soccer game via meetup. It was somewhere in PD, and it was a lot of fun playing with the folks there. I can't find meetup games anymore. Does anyone have leads on where to find these? Just want to get some exercise in while eating my way thru China again. Thanks!
Hi guys! I just moved to Hongkou area, I live next to Youdian Xincun metro station. Was wondering if there are any yoga/pilates places? Would be lovely to find some classes in english but it’s not necessary. Maybe there are places offering class packages?
Thanks Xx
I’ll be in Shanghai next week and want to keep up my running. Staying near the People’s park on Nanjing, do most people jog through here in the mornings? I was unsure due to the large amount of tourists and restaurants and cafes. Thanks x

How much will you miss these places?
I bought a ticket since my best mate and I used to love James Blunt and I just enjoy concerts in general, I was expecting to find someone who would want to attend with me, but none of my friends here are into this type of music so I was wondering if anyone is going alone and would like to buddy up.
I am a 28-year-old average Western foreigner guy working here in Shanghai. Send me DM if you want to maybe tag along. I just got a basic entry ticket
Hey there, I was wondering if there is a special event on the Bund for NYE ? Also, with my friends we are looking for cool parties if you know some !:)
Hi, I've just moved to Shanghai recently. I'm looking for a few categories of job search group chats.
-Univeristy Lecturer jobs (C.S)
I've searched for job search group chats similar to what I've found before but they seem to be private. If anybody could send me some invites or links to the groups I would be so greatful.
Thank you in advance
Hello guys! I recently came across a post over here stating that there is no need to register for a WFOE to start a business in Shanghai, however I could not find any information about how to go about doing it.
Where can I find any information about this? What is It even called? 😂
Thanks a lot in advance.
Where do you go for Botox in Shanghai? Looking for somewhere trusted and reputable
Would like to try picking up piano. Anyone recommend teacher in city center who can speak English?
Lost a bag with headphones. Tried all the known (for me) approaches to locate the lost stuff like calling the taxi driver, bar owner. Back to my town already. Does anybody know if there’s a way to report it to the police? I heard that the Shanghainese police treats this kind of thing seriously and can actually help you find the things you lost.

Is there any good places to get donuts in shanghai? I’m missing them since moving here :(. I’ve tried some at the local supermarkets but they aren’t sweet at all (I realise they aren’t as big on sweet stuff in China as they are in England). I have a really strong sweet tooth. Any type of donuts will do: fried, baked etc
I am currently a student at Shanghai international studies university. I want to start a program to help forein visitors to pay their visit more comfortably and meaningfully.
I have ALL the resources I need to start it, from willing volunteers to local informations. I just need a channel to spread our program for whoever needs it. Where should I start? (Reddit, check^^)
I have already looked into GuruWalk and Tours by Foot, but the registration process require fund. And as a student, I don't really have much money.
The guided tour is 100% free of charge, and we can offer visits in various languages.
I just got married. My wife is from Shanghai, and we want an in-China wedding so all her family can come (we will have a NY one as well).
Both of us have been scouring the web for venues and it feels like everything in Shanghai is a European-style villa (or extremely overdone and tacky in a few cases) which isn't exactly what we're looking for...
Something either more "traditional" appearing (I'm mostly talking about architecture in this post) to differentiate the ceremony from the one in the US, or something very architecturally modern (I'm an architect, and China and Shanghai in particular has some great architectural design innovation).
She hasn't "lived" in Shanghai for 15 years or so, and isn't familiar with venues at all there, and I obviously have no clue.
Does anyone here have experience going to a wedding in or near Shanghai, and what was it and how did it feel?
Thanks so much!
...
EDIT: Yes, we are going to have a planner, of course. What I want most is experiences and stories right now, in our "exploratory" phase.
