Will visit Nanjing this summer, and I’m looking for some good bars and restaurants that preferably has outdoor seating with patios. I’m not familiar with Nanjing, and I know that the amount of foreigners has decreased considerably since before Covid. I used to live in Shanghai but that place still has some international vibe which I guess Nanjing lacks.
So, any good recommendations? If you’re European or has lived in Europe you’ll know what kind of vibe I’m looking for. I know I might be asking for the impossible but it’s worth a try.
We are traveling to Nanjing in a few days and we both carry Canadian passports. I’m seeing videos online of massive tourist groups in Nanjing, and people are saying that they need to reserve tickets in advance and scan their National ID cards to enter places. How do foreign visitors get in? Will we still be able to pay for admissions at the entrances?
Hi everyone,
I’ll be in Nanjing on business next month for a week. I’ve been told to stay around the Nanjing South Railway Station as it’s convenient there.
My work will be around Xinling N about 15km’s from the station.
I’d like to explore the city in my spare time and have access to some great food too.
Would you guys recommend staying around the station there or is there somewhere better suited you’d stay?
Thank you so much
I heard from someone that there is an Iranian restaurant but I can’t seem to find it.
Hello, everyone! I am currently in Nanjing, China, and I'm on the lookout for stores that sell silver Marlboro cigarettes. If you happen to be familiar with the local area or have any information about recommended stores where I can find these specific cigarettes, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Please feel free to share any suggestions, tips, or directions to stores that might carry silver Marlboro cigarettes in Nanjing. Your help would be invaluable to me!

Hi everyone,
I (28M) recently moved to Nanjing from California and I'm looking for general advice on how to make new friends and find fun activities.
As an introvert, I really want to put myself out there and get the most out of my experience.
• Where do foreigners usually meet up? (I live in Xuanwu district near Catherine Park)
• Where can I find classes or meetups?
• What apps would you recommend? (I've joined some Facebook groups but not sure which ones are good)
I'm interested in the following:
• Taking a cooking class
• Language learning meetups for Korean and German (I already speak adequate Mandarin)
• Sculpting / art classes
• Fitness class like Judo
I appreciate your general advice and help 🥹
Hello!
Anyone know of any restaurants with eating challenges similar to the man v food show?
Like a big bowl of noodles, or a spicy food challenge? Thanks
Any recommendations
Hi I'm a Singaporean planning a solo trip to China and Nanjing would be my final stop, how ever based on my past few days of looking for hotels I've come to learn that quite a number of hotels do not accept foreigners.
I'm intending to stay around Jiangsu, the Jiangning District, preferably around Wen Ding Guang Chang (文鼎广场) Does anyone have any suggestions on hotels that accept foreigners in the area? Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey I will spend the weekend in Nanjing and want to use the two evenings to take nice pictures with my drone. Are there any nice spots where it could be worth going? I was in Suzhou last weekend where I could take amazing pictures hovering over the lake and looking at the skyline. Are there an nice spots in Nanjing I could check out?

Hello!
Looking for advice on places to live and work for the next academic year 2024-25. We are a teaching couple looking to leave our international school in Europe and head abroad to save. Our goal is to save at least 1 salary a month, enjoy the local life, travel a bit on a budget, and then return to the EU to buy a home.
Planning at least 2 years, but open to staying longer too.
We have been working in TEFL and international schools for over 10 years. My main experience is nursery – kindergarten and my partner in upper primary and middle school. We both have had middle leadership positions in the past. We have experience with IB, Reggio, and classic taught for the test type schools. I have two postgrads in Ed and SEN and my partner has a MEd.
Our main requirements are to be somewhere with access to nature as we are active and enjoy hiking, walking, running, and cycling. Also, gym facilities for bad weather/weekdays when it is not possible to be outdoors.
We aren’t big drinkers and have been in enough schools where the novelty of being in the expat bubble has worn off. As we are a couple, we are happy to not be in a capital city and we have experience of not well-developed countries so culture shock can be dealt with!
Would be excellent to get advice from people on best places to live for saving, as well as your own experiences. Details on cost-of-living vs salary and schools etc. would be amazing. In return, please message for advice on moving to and working in the EU.
I am not that savvy with Reddit so please link me any posts on this note too, and sorry in advance if this sort of questioning pops up too much!
This is a throw away account as our current employer/coworkers think we will be living here forever and ever.
Thank you so much!
Hello everyone, I recently moved to Nanjing and I’m looking for the best ways to meet new people, expats/natives alike. Can anyone recommend some good places? I like to exercise a lot, but honestly I’m open to all kinds of social activities. Some good bar recommendations would be nice as well. Thanks!
Lived in Nanjing from 2010-2014, wife and I are doing a victory lap/nostalgia tour and are looking to hit Nanjing. I’m guessing most if not all of the places we used to love are gone (or just as likely forgotten) - any recommendations for good places to eat? Not interested in non-Chinese food we got plenty of that in non-China. Appreciate any and all suggestions.
Hi all. I just built a ChatGPT solution for users in China. It's free to use and doesn't require a phone number to register or a vpn to access. There is no email verification or anything like that so feel free to just log in with fake info and mess around.
At this point I'm just wanting to see if this is something China expats want/need. Looking to continually improve the site, so any feedback is much appreciated!
The site is gptchina.io
Thanks!
When are the plum blossoms in bloom in Nanjing? I've heard that the plum blossom festival runs until March 12, do they start losing petals around that time or is it still good for a while after? Are there also cherry blossoms around the Ming Xiaoling area or is it strictly plum blossoms? And if so, do the cherry blossoms open as the plum blossoms fade, or is there a dead period in between with few flowers?
