Hey guys,
I’m planning to visit Macau for two days (from tomorrow) and I’m staying over night at the grand Lisboa hotel. Is there any poker games around if so which casinos and what is the lowest stakes? I normally play in London blinds £1/2 sitting with around £200-400.
Thanks
As we all know, Macau was handed over by Portugal to the PRC on December 20th, 1999. For most of the 1990s, save for the 11 days it spent in December as a SAR of the PRC, Macau was under Portuguese colonial rule. Unfortunately, I can find very little video footage of Macau, but there are some very fascinating photos from that era.
What were things like? How present were ethnic Portuguese people and Portuguese language? How clean and orderly was Macau? Did Macau look or feel more Portuguese back then? How did people feel about this era at the time, and how do those who lived it feel today?
What were the demographics of low and medium level law enforcement and civil service? What was their general economic status, social standing, educational attainment ethnic makeup, etc.? How bad was the crime/triad issue? Were people generally safe? Were Macau and its citizenry healthy, prosperous, and decent?
I'm an American teaching in mainland China, and I'd like to teach in Macau. Could someone please recommend a job recruiter?
I talked with one recruiter in China, and she told me that I need to have a teaching license, which I don't have.
I talked with another recruiter from Macau, and she said that I don't need a teaching license. However, she's too sketchy. She wouldn't let me speak with a current of former western foreigner. Second, she refuses to show me a contract. She said that I'd have to fly down there to look at it because the contract can't leave her office.
Thanks in advance.
I just found a HKD1000 while walking here at the senado square. I am planning to give and surrender it to the authorities. My question is, what will happen to the money if nobody claimed it? Are they going to allow me to keep it 🤭 because I was the one who found it?
Tried checking out macauticket app, and it says I need to exchange for paper tickets at any Kong Seng outlet after the May 7th. Would it be possible though to just buy walk in tickets on the day itself if there are available seats?
Hello.
I'm looking to visit Macau next week and see Teamlabs as part of my visit here.
I'm trying to book online on the official website, however only see a time for 11am when it opens (the same time for every other day). Is it possible to arrive on the day and pay for a ticket or would I have to prebook on the website, for 11am?
Thanks
Is there anyone here hosting a Texas Hold 'Em Poker tournament or play just for fun? I mean like just for fun, no money involve. Because I think illegal gambling is a big offence here. I just want to have some fun and make friends here by playing poker 😅
Does anyone have some good recommendations of cookbooks for Macanese cuisine? Ideally written in Cantonese/traditional Chinese. I am particularly interested in fusion and local cuisine unique to Macau. Thanks!
Im looking for wide array of choices of korean skincare. Ive checked there are places in hk (tonymoly) but not accessible for me just yet since im pounded with overtime work. Any recommendations?
I've just arrived in Macau, and have a stay of 25 days here (allowed up to 30 on a Canada Passport without a visa)
I can't find any info on when I can go back to Macau on the same visa, is this once a year? Can I go to HK for a few days then return to Macau?
Thanks so much in advance!
I looked up the official website and as far as I could understand, it said Indians dont need to have visa done in advance.
Link that I checked : https://www.gov.mo/en/services/ps-1474/ps-1474b/
Table mentioned below section : “Visa” and “Entry Permit” Exemption
I would like to double confirm what I read so I don't end up ruining my vacation. Could anyone help ?
Thanks in advance!
hi all, came to Macau (Coloane region) in 2018 and had this amazing macaroni-pork-carrot soup from this nameless / signless shop.
in fact, it was so good that it has remained in my memory as my favourite part of the Macau trip.
I believe this is the google map address.
coming back again to Macau. anyone knows if this shop still there please?
Does anyone know where to buy the official t-shirt in Macao? In the official football association website doesn’t have any store. :/
Anyone know any legit volunteer work in Macau?
Hello! Been planning on visiting macau soon and was wondering about some religious sites where one can pray for acceptance to university? Or anything locals would do, i’d appreciate it 😁
Hi! What is the best way to get from the airport to the City center?
Did the research, the Hotel Lisboa seems like the closest one with shuttle buses. Is this accurate?
Plus any tips on cafes and experiences would be highly appreciated! Thanks much 🌹❤️
Locals living 下環街 area are dixkheads and uneducated! Are they always been like this? Especially the Elders who are entitled brats! Younger generations tend to have more manners than the older generation
Hi everyone,
I wanna do a day trip from Hongkong to Macau. I will arrive at HZMB and plan to take the 101X to the city. Is it true that you can only pay the bus fare by coins? If yes, are there any machine where you can split RMB bills into coins?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Best regards

Could someone let me know routes for free shuttles in Macau? Will be there for 3 days this month. Thanks in advance.
So difficult to find good information in the normal living department as opposed to luxury tourist shops! Does anyone know where i can find a shop that can do basic clothing fixing, set a zipper, that sort of thing, as in a seamstress?
Hello! I am looking to fly into Macau airport and then taking a cab to my family’s house in the villages. Are taxis easy to get? What are some things I should watch out for?
Thank you!!
Hello guys!
I'm planning my trip to HKG in November. My itinerary also includes visiting Macau and Taipei.
This is how it looks like at this moment:
- Saturday 23.11
ferry to Macau in the morning, sightseeing all day, going sleep to the hotel
- Sunday 24.11
quick sightseeing in the morning -> going to the airport for a flight to Taipei at 12:00
--
But I'm considering rearranging this plan. I’d like to go to Macau on Sunday 24.11, in the morning at 7:30 (is this the earliest ferry?) and going straight to the airport for my flight. Then, when I come back on Thursday, 28.11, I will book a hotel and spend Friday 29.11 for sightseeing the city.
There are pros because I spent 50% less on a hotel in Macau, and there will be fewer crowds on Friday than on Sunday. The only cons I'm worried about are immigration and stuff around. What does immigration look like on Sunday mornings in Macau? Is it possible to take the morning ferry and be on time for a flight at 12:00?
I have some questions on Portuguese nationality in the context of Macau/Macao and would greatly appreciate if anyone here can share what they know.
My mother (of Cantonese heritage) was born in Macau in 1939. According to my mum, birth certificate was not considered an important document back then, her parents (i.e. my grandparents) never asked for one. Hence she doesn’t have one.
Additionally, according to her parents, she was born at Kiang Wu Hospital (鏡湖醫院). I phoned Kiang Wu Hospital 15+ years ago (from abroad) to ask if birth records were kept going back to the 1930s. I was told they didn’t.
My questions are:
Does anyone know if Kiang Wu Hospital has birth records going back to the 1930s?
Or did the Portuguese government ever have a birth register of people born in Macau?
If a birth register for Macau exists going back to those years, proving my mother being born there, would she still be able to claim Portuguese nationality in 2024?
Anything you’d suggest that I do?
Many thanks
hey guys
I wonder what Macau's flag looked like before 1999, there are many different answers on the internet, and all of them look legit to me.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Macau#
find a video on youtube, during the return ceremony, there is a blue flag next to the Portugal flag, is this the Macau flag?
also, I can't remember where I saw the info/rumour, Do people in Macau prefer the flag without 5 stars just like this one?
Need some local help, tia
