Welcome to the Commonwealth.

This is not a slam on polling, but I have a feeling that they just aren’t right. I could be wrong, but I’m just not seeing how Trump will win. But Kentucky, we’ve gotta vote and we need resurgence of two party politics in Kentucky, as little as two decades ago it was the opposite. So get out there! Early voting starts tomorrow. Don’t be discouraged, intimidated or silenced. The Republicans have made it harder to vote because they know that they are in the minority and restrictions on voting are part of it. Remember 2020? Voting by mail is awesome and the Rs knocked that down quick. But if we are persistent, insistent, and refuse to be denied. We’ll create a better Commonwealth.
EDIT Yeah everybody vote, I don’t want you MAGA to stay home. In Presidential elections the more the merrier. I also don’t have a lot of hope of Harris winning Kentucky but things are really different than in 2020.
"What’s the first thing you think of when you hear Kentucky? The world famous Kentucky Derby? Kentucky Fried Chicken and its mascot Colonel Sanders? Well, this AI-generated image doesn’t really go in either of those directions. Instead it goes with… well, to be honest we’re not exactly sure? The man pictured just seems more like a background character in an animated film than a thing specifically linked to the state of Kentucky." - Brian Delpozo
Is it possible to write in any name against Thomas Massie, or does it have to be an official write-in candidate in order to be counted? Is there any official write-in candidate against him? I can't find any info online.
Last I checked, in the general election you have to write in the name of an official write-in candidate in order for that vote to be counted, but is it the same rule for state elections or can I write in any name I desire?
Of course, this is a protest vote and I know he will win but I would like to be able to have my vote count against him, if possible, rather than just not vote for him.
EDIT: Looks like a guy named Benjamin August Middendorf is running as a write-in against Massie. I can't find a thing about him online though.

Also saw that somebody over on the Kentucky sub posted something along the same lines and comments state that you do have to write-in an official write-in candidate in order for the vote to count.
I want to be sure that I know the facts about the upcoming amendments we are voting on in November. Full disclosure, as of today I am going to vote Yes on both but I am 100% open to changing it on one or both. The main reason I am open to changing my vote is because I think what I know about them is based off assumptions, opinions, and hearsay. I have some questions that I haven’t been about to find answers to. There might be reasons to vote against that I haven’t considered. I will give the reasons I am voting in favor of each one. If you are against either one, I would really like to hear why and if you have any links supporting what you say please put them too. Even if it is just your opinion, I would greatly appreciate hearing about them.
Amendment #1: Voting Rights I don’t see a problem with this and the only reasons I have seen people give that are against it is that the law already forbids noncitizens from voting. But my understanding is that the law they are referring to only covers national/federal elections, not state and/or local elections. Also that there have been multiple states that have allowed locations to pass laws allowing noncitizens to vote. Does anyone have anything different as to why they are voting against this one?
Amendment #2: School Choice I see people say it takes tax money away from public schools. But isn’t it the funding that is “attached” to the student? It’s not a set of percentage of funding as a whole. Why shouldn’t the money that has been allocated for a student to be educated go with that student to the school they attend and are being educated at? Wasn’t one of the reasons school choice/vouchers was created was to give low income and minority families the opportunity to send their kids to a private school? I am pretty sure this isn’t the case, but I also think that if your choice is to homeschool, those same funds should go to that family to spend educating the student. I have never done or know anyone who has but I would imagine it’s a pretty steep cost (if it’s done properly). So I guess my biggest question to those who are against it, Why should funds that are allocated to my kid for his education be sent to a school that he isn’t attending and not the school that he is actually enrolled in? What am I missing?
I'm already going no for amend 1&2 because of how stupid they are but I specifically had a question for Covingtons "Adoption of a Mayor-Council"
I've never actually heard of that kind of thing so I'm interested in hearing what it is from someone who's more knowledgeable on it. A Google search left me with more questions than answers.
TIA!
Hi all. Is it possible to request a mail in a ballot? My wife is handicapped and I will not be in town during the election. How does a person request a mail in ballot?

I was laid off at the end of September, however I was not given a return date. Do I still need to apply to 5 jobs a week to get my unemployment benefits?
Little background on why I’m asking this question. I grew up in E Ky then went to school at UK early 2000s. Then joined the Marine Corps and got out in 2022 after doing over 10 years. So I haven’t really been in Kentucky living since 2011? Bourbon was always big but it was no where near levels it is now. I’m shocked at how big it is. It’s hard to sometimes even get distillery tours and I looked online and people were selling tours for over $1000. Is this just people driving them around to places and making the reservations?
Is it mostly people from outside Kentucky coming in?
Looking for a space or some tools I can rent. At this point I reallt just need a planer. I'm trying to build a workbench top.
Today is the last day to register to vote. You must be registered by 4pm.
Most individuals don’t seem to understand how this works.
Public schools don’t have an arbitrary set amount of funding. Public schools receive funding based on the number of children who live in the school district, even if they don’t attend that public school.
Even if children are homeschooled, the public school still receives the same funding for them as if they attended the school.
The money allocated for school vouchers is coming from the same money that wouldn’t exist if your child weren’t alive and living in the school district. It’s essentially your child’s personal funding for school. You’re not taking anything away from anyone by doing this.
Low income children would benefit the most from this. Their parents can use this voucher to enroll them in a private school and receive a superior education for free if they are unhappy with the public school. Again, this money is essentially their child's personal funds anyway.
Amendment 1: Requires all voters to prove US citizen status; prohibits voting by "persons convicted in any court of competent jurisdiction of treason, or felony, or bribery in an election, or of such high misdemeanor"; prohibits voting by jailed persons*; prohibits voting by "idiots and insane persons"**
*There is an important difference between being jailed and being convicted.
**There is no definition of who or how someone is considered to be an idiot or insane.
Amendment 2: Allows for government funds to be given to private, charter, and other non-public education institutions.
Voting 'YES' means you approve of these amendments. Voting 'NO' means you reject these amendments.
Deadline to register to vote is October 7. Register/check/update voter status at https://vrsws.sos.ky.gov/ovrweb/
