Our justice system as a whole is broken but particularly the Family Court side is so astronomically fucked and itās only function is for the bottomless profit of the court an adjoining agencies (drug testing/classes) & the lawyers whose retainers constantly are depleted by endless motions court dates an emails, allll at the expense of children an families. & I learned all this after going to the court for HELP after my kids dad took off to another state for months an wouldnāt return my kid despite multiple court orders! It is sickening and a failure to our Families & if nothing else I am inspired to seek ways to reform an draw attention to this treacherous debacle of a āsystemā.

All right so let me preface what I'm about to say with some context, I got out of prison about a year and a half ago, since I've been out. I've had one lemon after another as far as cars go and this vehicle was supposed to be running and driving and have very minimal problems.
About 3 months ago, a close friend of mine, whom I have loaned money to many times, decided to sell me his car. He told me he did not want me to make payments that he wanted me to pay him in full all at once so that he could buy a motorcycle. In the time it that it has taken me to save up the money to pay him. I have realized that the vehicle has quite a bit more problems than I thought. He never signed the title over, but he did at one point get a bit of the money from me because he was short on cash. Now about 2 weeks ago he texted me very coldly like we aren't friends anymore after us not speaking for about a week (we used to speak every day) And said that I should get him the money as soon as possible so that he can buy a motorcycle before the season is over. The car is going to cost me much more than its value to fix. If I were to pay him I would just have a nice yard ornament. If I do not pay him, I assume the friendship is over, however we're not speaking anyways. I have already spent over $300 in parts for the vehicle. As well as giving him $100 towards the price of the vehicle. The vehicle was under $1,000. Not a crazy amount but it's an old beat up Chevy truck. If I were to get it running it might be worth three grand. I believe it's going to take me about two grand to fix it not including the parts I've already bought.
I failed to mention that the car was running when I got it and it was thought to only have suspension issues. After about a month of taking it to and from work the car started to have electrical issues. The electrical issues stem from an aftermarket fan that was installed while he was in possession of the car or the owner prior to him, I'm not sure, I usually throw my hands up at electrical issues. Because in older vehicles that can just be a full host of problems.
Jesus the amount of frustration and people complaining about their first world problems here if being without electric for 24 hrs is UNREAL.
This region has already been struggling with the mass boom of population in the past few years from all over the country and the lack of resources and infrastructure to match that demand. Add that this is probably one of the worst hurricanes we've ever had in terms of widespread and extensive damage, and yet Chad and Karen are upset there power has been off for 2 days šš¤¦āāļø
Does it suck? Sure. Was this unexpected? Not at all. Did you just not prepare well? Probably so.
Get your emergency supplies and generators ready for the next one, especially if you haven't lived in this area long and arent used to hurricane/flood/ tornado weather, because it's just going to be a matter of time before the next one, and they're probably just going to get progressively longer and worse as weather continues to become more unstable over the next few years and the population in this area continues to outgrow it's current available resources. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.
Looking to get a good amount of peat or coco coir, perlite, and slow release nutrient pellets for re-potting my houseplants. Was wondering if there was somewhere cheaper than Lowes to get this stuff? Thanks for your time!
iāve noticed that as iām getting older i still inside more so itās harder for me to make friends. and the only hobby i really have is gaming. is there any chill gamers in here that would want to play together? i have all the newer consoles, some old and a pc so iām not limited.
Lights out everywhere in Lansdowne Alumni area. Traffic and streetlights out. Saw a couple wrecks on way to work. Slow down and be patient when lights are out holy cow people.
Let me preface this with, I know that the KU workers themselves are working hard. My dad was a lineman for the electric company from my hometown when I was growing up and I know itās tough on you all.
That being said, I need someone to ELI5 why the power is still out (40514 area)? I have lived in both small towns all over KY and in Bowling Green, and I have never had the power go out as long as it has been out here. I have lived in Lexington for a little over a year now and this is the second time it has happened from a storm.
Again, I donāt believe itās the fault of the workers, but what is up with KU as a company? It seems crazy to me that itās such an issue in a large city like Lexington, and Iāve seen other posters saying that they have moved here from Nashville and never had this issue there, so it canāt be because itās a big city. Someone please explain? Iām still in the dark. I really donāt want to lose my groceriesā¦again.
Update I have received my answer to my questions. I will no longer look at this post but I would like to address a few things that I have noticed from the comments.
I cannot buy a generator, I live in an apartment. That is the case for much of Lexington. āBuy a generator commentsā are extremely unhelpful to a large portion of the community.
To the ones that suggested to buy a cooler and ice. I did yesterday, on hour 4 without power. Unfortunately that only works for my refrigerated items. I am worried about my freezer contents, (meats etc.) which are only good for 24-48 hours without power, the estimate is not until October 1, 11:00 pm. That will be a total 108 hours.
I am fully aware that it could be worse, but losing groceries sucks. Life is expensive, throwing money away and being upset about it is valid.
I am also fully aware that this particular instance isnāt ājust some stormā but this is not the first time this has happened since Iāve lived in Lexington, and from what I have gathered it will not be the last time because KU is known for this.
I would like to reiterate that I know the utility workers are working tirelessly. This post was never intended to suggest otherwise. This is all about the companyās response as a whole. (Please see number 4, if you are confused why.)
Hope everyone stays safe out there and fingers crossed for the power to come back on for all of you (and me) soon.
after 13 hours without power, it finally came back on. thanks to all the KU workers who worked tonight and will continue to work.
Left something at a friendās so we had to turn back and head towards Fourth St around 11:05. On the way, we passed two police vehicles and a news SUV (not sure which station) and immediately we were a bit worried about what we were going to drive past. As we continued on Shropshire Ave, there were at least 20 police vehicles on Breckenridge. Thereās also officers in the alley between Breckenridge and Sixth. Several officers are at pretty much every street going into that area. Police were still there when we came back five minutes ago. I donāt want to take a picture because I believe that would be insensitive if anyoneās loved ones are involved. Iām assuming there will be an article with more information.
I used to work with a Bonnie who was Asst. Manager who became a Manager there before transferring to Lexington Green roughly 34 years ago. Does anyone remember her last name???
Title
Seems like my little neighborhood is always one of the firsts to lose it and one of the last to get it back on.
I drove up and down manowar trying to charge my phone and it just sucks to be the only neighborhood I went through still dark :(
As title says I'm relatively new to the Lexington area, anybody on here play on games? I've been wanting to learn some games like YGO, or sit in and watch a DND session if possible.
Despite people complaining, I think we should give a shout out to all the hard workers that have been going nonstop today to clear our roads and get our lights on. Itās hard work and I am grateful that they all do it.
Whenever it rains, it is basically a coin flip if I am even in my lane or not.
I have a great contact for fallen tree removal. If anyone needs
We got power back in Beaumont around 7PM. Our friends south of MOW and Tates Creek got there's back too. The KU map never said anything except "Assessing Conditions" right up until the power was back on, so don't trust the map right now!
hi folks - hoping you all have some suggestions for the following practices:
psychiatry - specifically bipolar - I currently am not happy with the care I receive and feel my doctor is 'stuck' on the Current medication I take. need a second opinion. I also have severe anxiety/OCD and wish I could find someone who isn't scared to prescribe klonopin PRN as I have been prescribed in the past but I can live without it.
endocrinology (specializing in PCOS) I have tried to see Dr Carbajal but she has a 6-8 month wait and my appointment has been cancelled twice. or anyone who does well with PCOS
Podiatry
Primary care š©
I have tried to get seen at the UK dentist school and never received a call back. But I will try one of the many dentist suggestions that have been posted in this thread. I have no dental insurance.
I do have insurance through my employer and I can see most providers. DM me if you feel more comfortable! Thanks for any help & take care of yourselves š
My wife is craving some chicken and waffles. Whatās the best option in town for dinner time C&W? Would prefer sit down restaurant, it is date night so preferably nothing crazy fast foody
In the armpit of the zip code, behind the Speedway, and the power is still out. Consequently, I'm roasting and have no amusements. The roasting part is most dire. Any ETAs for the area?
