Cool stuff is happening in Newport, Kentucky. This is a space for us to discuss the best place to get chili.

Why do the ID check iPads seem so confounding on every Election Day? It’s happening again this morning. Longest line at 6am I’ve seen in my time here. The poor poll workers are so frustrated and we’re just getting the day started. They need better tech support.
I was walking the river front and I couldn’t figure out the purpose of the add on in front of the building. Online research gave me no results. Now I am seeing if the locals might be able to help me sleep at night by giving me the answer.
A car just slammed into something. Not sure if it was a parked car or the car slammed into a sign pole. I just heard it, didn’t see it. Cops everywhere. It was really loud.
Make me an offer!
Where can I park overnight in Newport ? I can pay but any info on rates would be a help!
Staying with someone whom’s apartment complex does not have visitor parking and requires parking passes for residents. Since I am not a resident nor have a pass I need to park somewhere overnight!
I'm planing a couple day trip to Cincinnati with my gf and I want to take her here for the giant stingray touch tank at the aquarium. I drive a 2020 Silverado 1500 and parking garages always sketch me out because it always seems close on size. Are there another good places nearby I could park?
New to the area and have been looking at different gyms. If anyone has any experience with the crunch fitness on Monmouth, can you let me know your thoughts? Is it crazy crowded typically? Any opinions would be helpful!
Does anyone know who the man is that parks underneath the Southgate Bridge? He parks on the levee side, he drives a 90’s sedan, he sometimes leans on the car, and he just stares at everyone going by. I walk alone in Newport often, and I like to walk underneath the bridge down the Riverwalk. Is it okay to walk past him? He is parked under the bridge everyday. What is his deal?
I am traveling to here to do some charity work. Is there any campgrounds for tent camping like a KOA?
I’m going to the megacorp pavilion soon. My car is in the shop and I’m borrowing my dad’s 3/4 ton truck which is really tall even at stock height. Looking at google earth, most of the garages are 7’ high so probably too short. Anyone know of good places to park a large vehicle or if I should be able to find street parking?
Hello! I'm a college student moving to the Cincinnati area for a few months this summer for work. I'm looking at a place new Isabella and 8th. How is the area? Is it safe ti walk around during the day/night? Thanks!
Any HVAC installers on here that services Newport Kentucky?
Hey I live in a place where there is not any accessible parking so I often get parking tickets (which is still considerably cheaper than buying a monthly pass at the levee)
Do you guys know if there’s like a limit of tickets I can get before I get in trouble? I always pay them off on time but I’m not sure if the repercussions are only for if you don’t pay them or what.
Thanks!
TLDR: Will I get points on my license if I always pay my parking tickets on time? Is there a limit of parking tickets that can be paid before points are added?
Does anyone know what movie was filming in Alexandria Community Park today?
I can clearly smell Coffee being roasted some days, like at the top of Monmouth. Anyone know who who is doing that? I would love to go buy their beans instead of ordering them.
Im looking to recycle a bunch of big cardboard boxes and stuff that won't all fit into my bin at the house. Any public ones around Newport or ones I can use from stores that aren't fenced off?? Thanks
Trying to remember the name of the video arcade in the shopping center down by the bowling alley… who remembers?
Hi there. My husband and I live in South Newport, nearly in Southgate. Yesterday, he was working from home and there was police activity on our street, Riddle place, because there was a fugitive from justice. My husband said that there were armed police officers on our lawn and someone with a bullhorn in the wooded areas surrounding the houses on our street. I checked local news websites to see if there were additional information about this, but I didn't see anything. Does anybody know anything else about it? I know that the suspect was apprehended. There was a lockdown on the street at the time.
Hey everyone, just a reminder that no excuse, in person early voting starts today and ends Saturday. Regardless of political party, voting is your way of participating in the democratic process and influencing the future of this state! You can find the polling location in Campbell county here https://elect.ky.gov/Voters/Pages/Polling-Locations.aspx
I was in town last week for the Ween show at MegaCorp and fell in love with everything about the place. Every person I encountered was so friendly (shoutout to the new bartender and her first night at Jerzee’s pub!) and it is SO much cleaner than where I’m used to on the west coast.
It’s a pipe dream for now, but I’m genuinely curious how actual citizens feel about the city and the state. The proximity to Cincy was also great! The COL there is much more affordable than here where I am, though I realize that wage discrepancy exists within that as well, and it’s all relative.
With no means to disrespect, I have read about how KY in general is a poorer state, however what I saw was homes in a price range I would be able to actually afford (again, I realize my wage here is not what I’d make there, however) - crappy fixer uppers in my city go for $500k+ and I am nowhere NEAR being able to afford that even if I wanted to.
Sorry I’m rambling, I really just want to hear from people who actually live in the area what the reality is like, Vs. me being someone who just showed up for a week, loved it, then left with no real impact.
Thanks in advance! And again, I want to thank your city for being so friendly I can’t even handle it!
