Has anyone had any uncomfortable/inappropriate or poor experiences with an EKU professor named April Pilcher?

Opinions on going to the graduation ceremony for a post baccalaureate certificate?

I’m an online student at EKU getting a post grad certificate and can’t decide if I should attend graduation in May.

Homeland security degree

Hello everyone. this subreddit was recommended to me a while ago so I decided I should give it a shot and ask my question here. i am currently a sophomore majoring in cybersecurity and digital forensics and I was thinking about making the switch over to homeland security and their intelligence studies. does anybody here have experience in that major and can give me advice to wether or not I should switch or even if it is worth my time? thanks!

Case cafeteria going downhill

Does anyone else also feel like Aramark isn't doing their job right? I'm a pescatarian, so my food options are limited. The vegetarian section is always bland, and the rice is disgustingly overcooked. Today on Monday they had a bunch of stations closed. So unless you want a diet consisting of hamburgers and pizza, all you get is gross overcooked food with no flavor. Not only that but the soap dispensers are always out of soap (???) It's a cafeteria, and they don't care about public health. The drinks run out by the middle of the week and they don't bother refilling it until the weekend, and they're always out of soy milk. I feel they are severely understaffed and untrained. The only consistent and tasty station is Comfort Food, but all I can have is the veggies. We pay thousands for meal plans, what are they doing with that money???? Can we do something about it?

Small concerns

I'm going to be joining EKU in a year or so with my BF and was wondering 2 things, 1: if what I've seen online about to being LGBT (etc I don't remember the full acronym) friendly is true, 2: and if it's furry friendly because i cant find anything online about it

Concerns

I'm from a KCTCS college and now thinking about going to EKU. I have the concerns of being 20 and going to college. I have heard that there are older people go to college but having to be most likely a freshman that 20 concerns me. Will it impact me socially?

STA 270

Just looking for advice on a course I’m going to have to take next semester (STA 270). I’m an accounting major in the online program so this is one of the requirements for my degree path. I was an A student in my dual credit courses for college algebra and trig, but can not pass college calculus for the life of me so I’d really just like an idea of the difficult of STA 270. I’m generally a good math student but obviously nothing super special so I’m not sure how my skills will match up to the course.

Meet people

How do you meet people here? I used to have a few friends in high school, but I'm on my third semester here now, and have yet to meet anyone. I kinda don't have any friends now.

Also would like to meet a girl potentially... but for now that feels like more than I could achieve for now.

Anyone who has partaken in the Aviation program

Hi, I am going to be a freshman this year doing Professional Flight. I've heard some details about the program that can be an issue, like not being able to get your light hours in time of graduation and having to stay longer than expected to make up the time. Is this true? Also, is there anything you wish you knew before entering the program? I don't have much financial aid so this is a big leap forward in my life, so I want to make sure what I'm doing is right. I'm enrolled in AFROTC classes and hope to get some scholarships from that, that can help me out tremendously.

Suggestions

My son is moving in next week for his freshman year. I am putting together an “Open When” box, and I’m looking for suggestions. What little things will he need?

I know I want to include some gift cards, so I am looking for suggestions of local places students like to go.

Any specific hang outs? Coffee shops, ice cream, fast food, etc? Fun activities they like to do?

Thanks!

Online Chem/Calc

I am debating about starting an online program at EKU and am curious how good the Professors/course information is or if I should study offline via Khan/Online methods and try to CLEP out.

Would be Calc 1, Chem 1 & Chem 2.

A Treatment Study for Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Do you experience sudden mood shifts?
  • Are there many ups and downs in your relationships?
  • Do you find yourself engaging in impulsive behaviors (e.g., overeating, substance use, self-injury)?

If so, researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a treatment study on borderline personality disorder. Eligible participants will be provided cognitive behavioral therapy at no cost. In addition to attending therapy sessions, research participation will involve completing a diagnostic interview to confirm eligibility, attending 3 follow up interviews, and completing online questionnaires. All study visits may take place in-person or via Telehealth. Participants will be compensated for the completion of follow-up assessments.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Meet criteria for borderline personality disorder following a study assessment
  • Are NOT using certain substances (e.g., opioids, methamphetamine)
  • Are 18 years or older
  • Live in Kentucky (visits are Telehealth, so anywhere in KY is fine)

To initiate participation, you can visit this information/screening link to determine if you meet initial study criteria: https://redcap.uky.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=NNTNJEYRKE7KCNMT.

Room for rent

Anyone that is an EKU student needing a roommate for an apartment? I’m trying not to have to buy dorm bills since it seemed to have gone up higher since I last checked in may.

How early do I have to apply for a masters program at EKU? I graduate in the fall of this year (2024) and was wondering if I should apply before I graduate or how does this work? Just wondering if I’m already late. Thanks.

Btw is only on this subreddit? lol

Could I still apply for housing?

I see on the website that I can apply for housing. I am waiting to be accepted for this upcoming fall semester as a freshman, I know I am very late applying. I was just wondering if living on campus is still an option.

Online BSW Program

Trying to find student input on taking all online courses, especially BSW. Please help! 🙏🥺 I like what EKU online is saying they have to offer, but I really want to know what the students think.

Do you like the online BSW program? Or do you like the online school in general? Is the school helpful when need be? Do the benefits they list make up for the cost? Etc.

I’m changing careers and going back to school, so I really want to make certain I choose a great and reliable online program.

Art program accepting of digital artists?

Just did the general tour of campus last week, was very impressed. My kid is looking into art programs and does a lot of digital art vs traditonal painting and drawing. You'd be surprised what someone can do with a cheap tablet and a free app. The program overview online looks very geared to more traditional styles. Anyone have any experience with that program? Would love to hear actual student experiences

Nursing program

How good is EKU nursing? I want to be a trauma nurse. I've heard it's really good but are you often overwhelmed or stressed out? Can you still enjoy college life? Are the professors helpful? Are there resources to help with coursework on campus? Thank you for answering, I couldn't get very good answers at orientation lol
