New year, new hope? With the recent concerning news regarding Auston Matthews’ injury, the Leafs (23-13-2, 48pts) have their work cut out for them in 2025. The Islanders (14-17-7, 35pts) present the first challenge of the year. Do the Leafs have the depth to get to their goal? Hope springs eternal. Go Leafs Go!
I’ve often read about the last minute ticket strategy, but never had given it a go. I have my best buddy visiting from Alberta and figured we’d give it a go yesterday. After countless Ticketmaster refreshes and a few failed attempts, we were able to land lower bowl centre ice’s as we were drinking a pint at Real Sports around 1:03PM. We each paid $118 (which to me sounds unheard of). We got to our seats for opening puck drop.
As someone who normally is way up in the nosebleeds, this was a great experience, and we tried to bring some life to the suits bowl.
Wishing Leafs Nation a great 2025, Happy New Years!
Please use this thread to post ANYTHING you want! Memes, photoshops, anything that would normally be removed for breaking the low-effort content rule, is totally, 100% welcome here!
This will now also be the dedicated thread for Armchair GM posts as we noticed that those posts were bleeding into this thread regardless. Is there a free agent you want to see on this team? Is there a player that's rumoured to be on the move that you think GMBT should go after? Are there players on this team you want to trade away? Feel free to post about it here!
Normal moderation will occur, such as watching for personal insults, racism, and things of that nature.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread to share things like your new jersey, a photoshop of a Habs logo on fire, or a reaction gif to something going on in Leafs Nation right now!
Downvotes are discouraged for the most part, everyone's opinion is fair game in this thread.
Get out there and have fun!

Two brutal turnovers. Still sleeping to start the period. Thankfully, this goal was overturned.
Every single year we get the exact same discussion: "Leafs need more depth scoring" "The depth players aren't doing enough"
At some point is it not insanity to expect different outcome? Every year they get these depth players that somehow only manage to score when they play in the top 6 (McMann, Domi, etc)
Im typing this as David Kampf opens the scoring which is funny, but that is another perfect example, as he's playing top 6 minutes and finally gets his first 2 goals of the season
A prime example of this would be Connor Dewar. The season he got traded to the leafs from the wild, he played 57 games with the wild, scored 10 goals. He currently has ONE (1) goal as a Toronto Maple Leaf, in 36 games, 37 after today. Dewar, if I remember correctly did not play top 6 minutes with the Wild, he played bottom 6, mainly 3rd line I believe.
So why do players that have such good scoring talent, seem to struggle in the leafs bottom 6? The easy answer would be to say less minutes = less goals, which obviously has something to do with it, but at the end of the day the drop off that happens with players like Dewar is too big to have that explanation.
I truly do believe that the bottom 6 just do not get set up for success. This is through 2 coaches obviously, so maybe its more of a management problem.

As another calendar year draws to a close, Leaf fans find themselves teetering on the edge of hope and frustration. A great start to the season has been mixed with its fair share of injuries, baffling inconsistency and moments of spark that keep us coming back. The Leafs (22-13-2, 46pts) end the year with a rare afternoon game, a 1pm start against the Islanders (14-16-7, 35pts) at Scotiabank Arena. Let’s end 2024 on a high note! Go Leafs Go!
Starting with tomorrow’s game, the Maple Leafs will introduce a new tradition: an “In Memoriam” tribute to honor players who passed away during the year. The ceremony, held at all home games closest to Dec. 31, will feature a moment of silence, a video tribute, and two family members of each honoree as special guests in a private suite.
This year’s honorees include Ron Ellis, Peter Conacher, Sergei Berezin, Ed Chadwick, Gerry James, Don Marshall, Larry McIntyre, Tim Ecclestone, and Paul Masnick.
