Are there any companies you just won't buy from?

I'm still newish and figuring things out.

Wanting to buy American knives and not Chinese seems like a common concern in the knife hobbyist world. (But all the American knives in the poorman-tier suck, a lot, compared to the Civivi/Sencut/CJRB equivalents!)

I've seen accusations of people "stealing" knife designs, not sure where I stand on that.

Also some companies have a reputation of formerly being much better value than they are today, i.e. "I'll never buy another Benchmade at the prices they're asking today."

Spyderco: too ugly? Feels good, who cares? (I'm leaning to the latter, love my ugly Salt.)

Also I heard Medford got a little too political, causing some people to call for a boycott of his products... but his knives look like they were never my thing anyways.

Anything that sticks out to you?

Has anyone ever tried putting a lil native blade in a para 2 frame?

I was worried if anyone's ever tried this because I'd love a knife with a big handle that would comply with more blade limits. The para 3 is a bit small for my hands and it's my understanding that you can't drop the blades in really but has anyone tried it with a lil native?

Care and Feeding

Good afternoon all,

I'm new to this sub and have recently come into possession of a small but descent and, as far as I can tell, unused collection of knives. One of my removed cousins passed away recently and he liked nice things, apparently. He had an extensive collection of knives and after the funeral when we sorted through his house, my father and I divvied up the best of the lot and I took home what appears in the attached picture.

I'm not looking for value as I am the sentimental type and would like to keep these to remember him by. What I am looking for is any advice - care and feeding instructions. I would like to make sure they are kept box-sharp and in good condition. Are there any sharpening guides or products I should look into? These won't be seeing heavy use, but the Dawson (bottom left in image) has already replaced my cigar cutter and so will need to be pretty much box-sharp to work properly. I may also display these in a case or in my workshop and would be interested to hear what people use for things like that. They probably won't be used for self defense, as I am more of a point and shoot kind of person.

And one other question - the Dawson is probably my favorite out of the lot, and I have looked on their website and don't see this exact one. Does anyone know what it's called? Am I just missing it? The black steel and handle are kind of my style and I may pick up another one to go with it.

Thanks for any help!

Bad Grind

I hate to be a complainer but it looks like they have up halfway thru the grind. Also the flipper tab is all loose and I can't find any screws to take it apart 😥

My Kizer Sparrow came in today.

The blade shape appeals to me much more in person than it did in pics. Not bad for less than $37 shipped.

New knife day, to correct an old knife!

Some years ago, my brother got me my first Benchmade. He got it engraved with my name, using the logo I had designed for my art side gig. It was my favorite knife, and I used it for everything. Well, uh, I transitioned, and that name isn't quite right anymore. So he updated it! New name, new logo, and a nice new knife. We'll see how beat up this one gets lol

Wasn't really on board when I saw the announcement, but it grew on me. Today after carrying it some and getting a feel for it, idk this kinda feels like one of their best releases yet
