RULES Please use the 'Report' feature for any post/comment you feel is in violation of the below rules.

1.) Post a list of your items

When posting pictures of your EDC, please provide a list of items in the comments within one hour of posting; otherwise, your post will be removed.

2.) No Spam

We consider spam to be posts/comments that try to take advantage of the subreddit, automated or otherwise.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Advertising your own products/company/social media

  • Shilling for a third party/Thinly veiled advertising such as "Hope I can get this into other people's hands" or " Items I produce"

  • Affiliate/referral links

You can include items that you make/sell in EDC posts, so long as it includes other items.

The one and only exception to this rule is special deals offered to the members of this sub. Before posting such deals please message the Mod team.

3.) No Incivility

Comments/posts that include name calling, insults, mocking, condescension, gatekeeping, or any other form of incivility towards users or items will be removed. Criticism of an item itself is allowed, but keep it civil.

4.) No Politics

Discussion regarding any political party/ideology/group, even those you agree with, will not be tolerated. Do not debate the politics of a country/state/city, user or of an item they choose to EDC. Posts are allowed to contain political imagery (stickers, flags, patches, etc.) so long as they aren’t the primary focus of the post, and don’t violate Reddit TOS.

5.) No Inappropriate Content

Inappropriate content is content that doesn’t fit the theme of the subreddit. This includes, but is not limited to: content unrelated to EDC, news articles, nudity, and injuries/gore.

6.) No Videos

Video posts are not allowed. They are difficult/time consuming to moderate and often contain advertising.

7.) No Memes

No memes, petitions, screenshots, or clickbait. Satirical EDCs are allowed, so long as it follows the traditional EDC post format.

8.) Meet Minimum Posting Requirements

In order to post or comment, an account must be at least 48 hours old and have a minimum of 50 Karma. This is to prevent spam. Please do not message the mods asking for your post to be approved. Be patient and repost/comment once your account has met these requirements.

9.) Do not ask why someone carries a knife or a gun

Please read the FAQ before asking why someone carries a knife or a gun. These questions are often asked dishonestly, and this rule exists to discourage political debate stemming from loaded questions.

10) Do not give unasked for advice regarding firearms or knives, or ask why they aren't carried.

Do not give unasked for advice regarding purchasing or carrying firearms or knives.

Do not ask users why they don't carry.

Both of these actions are the flip side of not asking why they are carried. Doing so serves no good purpose and pushes users who choose not to carry such items into justifying their choice, or explaining the fact that laws are not the same everywhere.

Looking for a very specific backpack for EDC

I’m a female with 3 homeschool kids. We‘re usually out of the house all day (hiking or museums/trips) and I need a backpack to accommodate my needs.

  • Needs to have an insulated area for food (I have food allergies, so I usually carry a full lunch + 1 or 2 snacks)
  • Needs an uninsulated area for things like first aid, schooling equipment like small microscopes, minimal art supplies, an extra layer of clothing... I usually fit all my non-food needs in an 8L pack.
  • A spot for a water bottle.
  • Smaller organization for small quick things like the knife/multitool I carry, phone, a few safety things I don’t want to get lost in the abyss of a large backpack.

Also noting that I’m a rugged backpack sort of person. I currently own patagonia and fjallraven although they lack the insulated area, so I’m left carrying an ice mule, too. I prefer all black but color isn’t a deal breaker.

Hoping to avoid Amazon since I hate supporting them. I appreciate B corp status or “lifetime repairs” since I’m hard on my things.

I‘m hoping to find the right pack so I can stop carrying 2 individual bags for food and “things”… we use sign language in our house so I need my hands free 😂

Mini pouch

I’m looking for something similar to the alpaka hub pouch. They are out of stock. Clam shell type opening with a zippered pocket. 3.5 x 5 or so. I like the Maxpedition micro but it has no zippered pocket.

Shoulder/ sling bag recommendations

Im looking for a shoulder bag.. capable of carrying a 13 - 14 inch laptop, wallet, keys, pen.. notebook, water bottle, maybe my coffee thermos, various cable and cords, my battery, whatever else the day throws at me..

I currently have a swiss gear backpack of sorts which is great .. but i hate the speed of a backpack. I like the idea of a shoulder bag i can just slide around to access.. or hop into a car.. but the few i have seen are to big, to small.. or don't offer enough compartments, or organization options

Hazard 4 was recommended to me but the cost - especially here in Canada is to far out of my budget

Im ok with about a 150ish cdn dollar budget.. so like.. $2.80 american

please help !

My typical EDC

Ruger SP-101 W/ 2.25 barrel, usually in an IWB kydex holster

CAT TQ

Keys

BIC Lighter

Fossil brand wallet

Uniball Jet stream pen

Sometimes I may bring one of my Leathermans with me, depending what I’m wearing at the time. Besides that, these are my typical carry items.

Leatherman rescue vs Response

I can't decide between the two. I do not work in ems and don't plan on letting these sit in a med kit forever. Whenever I go to cut something I always find myself going for the scissors on my multitool before the knife(sometimes so I don't freak people out with a knife). I like the holster that comes with the rescue and the slimmer profile but have heard it rust easily. I have hands on the larger side if that matters. What do you all think?

I have two great bags, but I'm looking for the best of both worlds.

Over the years, I've been a big fan of Waterfield Designs and their products. I've also had great experiences, for the most part, with their customer service.

I found that for the purposes of what I want to carry, the backpack seemed to work better, and I started carrying it every day. At the time, I had a fatter Macbook Pro. Most of the time I was carrying that laptop, whatever book I was currently reading (sometimes paperback/sometimes hardback), and then some of my smaller assorted stuff in the quick access pocket at the top. I also have a backup battery I would put in the passthrough zipper area. Sometimes, I would also throw in my Nintendo Switch in it's slim case. It all fits comfortably.

The zipper on my bag actually broke about a week ago, so I've had to send the backpack back to them for repair. In the meantime, I've gone back to my Sutter Slim, and man...I miss this thing. The backpack has way more room, but this just looks and feels so nice, and is less of a bulky thing to carry with me. I love how it hangs vertically, but the lack of a quick access pocket and the fact that I basically have to cram a book in it if I also have my laptop (now a slimmer M3 Air) has me remembering why I upgraded to a backpack in the first place.

Here's the thing: I actually have a store credit to Waterfield for $160 that has just been sitting there for years, and I'm wondering if there is a bag they offer that might be a better fit for me. If so, I would even potentially sell my two current bags and use the credit to upgrade.

Thoughts? I like this messenger, but it's really hard to choose without actually holding it, and it's very expensive. Also, there don't seem to be any review videos anywhere.

I'm just looking for thoughts and opinions on this. Thanks.

Viperade VE Molle Strap Gear?

I'm looking to start committing to an EDC setup after several months of carrying lots of loose stuff in my pockets. One thing I was interested in were the Viperade VE pouches, specifically the gear I can attach to the molle straps.

Ive see several people recommend the MecArmy CPLU. What other things of that nature do you recommend? I am specifically looking for a good compact compass I can attach to the straps.
