Saw Amazon had some deals on Cold Steel knives (between 40-50% off) so grabbed the Black talon 2 and the AD 10 that had been on my list for a while… oh and grabbed an Off Grid Mamba V2 that was also on my knife list as well 😁
I ordered a vintage Guttman "Explorer" boot dagger on Ebay from the 1980's, inported from Seki Japan; and I've been really curious to know if anyone can tell me how well they hold an edge. It's stamped "440 stainless" and "Explorer MM-1" with an aluminum hilt; a clone of the old Gerber Mk1. I've scrounged forums all over for information, and it's frustrating! Some said it was 440A, some 440C. One person said theirs held a good edge, others said they couldn't get it to take one. These seem like quality made knives, from a renowned knife making city in Japan; and people have talked about them being tough enough for knife throwing; so that's something. But, I like to use my knives, so I hope I didn't spend $40 of my savings on something unusable and too soft for use. Thanks for the help!
Although the steel is soft and the sharpening was iffy, the blade itself locks tight and the pivot works good and smooth. Bit of flex in the handles and only a partial steel insert, but for a throwaway shop or car knife, this works great! Will be a stocking stuffer favorite, I'm sure.

As we have New laws in Germany I can't carry a knife everywhere but scissors are allowed. Are there any good scissors with knife-like functionality? Or scissors that can easily be taken apart to be knives? They should be obviously scissors first and foremost to not get in trouble.
Just found this knife at work. Any idea what brand/knife it is? Also any way to clean up the blade? Thanks!
I’m looking at a SOG Altair FX with CPM 154 going for $85 bucks. What other knife is comparable for a better value?
Had it for years and just re-found it.
I'm wondering if anyone has any idea about what knived are used in the movie 'Canary Black', especially the folder Kate Beckinsale uses to lift the floor to look at the mine.
