looking for an affordable hairdresser in brooklyn or manhattan - i have coarse asian hair and am looking to get some sort of short shag/wolf cut. my budget is $80ish!
We moved into a new unit this month in a pretty nice building near cobble hill. The only thing that’s jumped out to us is that the unit only has one door to the hallway, a balcony, and no fire escape.
Is there any reason this would be allowable?
Hey y’all, happy Saturday! I am trying to find hard frosted/iced cookies for my wife’s birthday. I’ve been having a hard time finding some non-stored bought options. Any Brooklyn bakery recommendations? Much appreciated 👻
During the games: $5 Hofbrau Oktoberfest! $3 shots for NY Homeruns!

Seeking 1v1 boxing training. No classes. Can anyone point me to the right direction ?
Do you guys think the sound system is pretty good there? Nice and loud? Or unfinished basement vibe?
hi! this is my first time doing this, I’m an amateur vocalist and looking for people that play guitar/bass/drums and want to just jam, have fun, maybe play for our friends one day!
I listen to a lot of indie pop/rock, some of my favorite artists: beabadoobee, the Marias, the smashing pumpkins, arctic monkeys, years and years, saint raymond, mk.gee, and djo!!
if you’re interested you can message me on IG @aerinyg :’)))
It’s a short paper I have to do—any ideas? I want something I can research somewhat.
Edit: any nonprofit ideas?
I know this is a niche request, but does anyone know of any grocery stores or bodegas that sell Mallomars near Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill / Downtown BK? Can also be other nearby neighborhoods.
A friend of mine is dealing with a tragic death in the family and I'm sending him a care package of his favorite snacks. I've tried about 5 or 6 grocery stores nearby with no luck. Thanks in advance!
Nothing useful on citizen as usual.
Does anyone have recommendations for a good bar, preferably large (my group will be 6-8 people) within a short walk of Barclay's Center? Good food and IPA's a plus.
I saw contrails last night while walking on 7th ave in Park Slope.
I need to remove about 8" of good top soil from a sidewalk adjacent garden plot (20' x 10') in Brooklyn Heights. All plants and roots have already been removed. I have bodies and shovels to move the dirt off the plot, now I need to find a new home for the dirt. Any ideas of how to transport this, and to where? Anyone want to come get dirt? I'm working with a very, very limited budget.
Anyone remember the furniture store on Court St. maybe near 1st or 2nd place on the west side of the street? I know it’s random but I bought furniture from there back in 2006 and was hoping for a name or something. Thanks if you remember!
Mr. Subway Rat, With Injured Foot
I can be your friend,
oh little rat,
for I know the life you lead.
I have wandered where you wander,
in more ways than I can recall.
That is why I admire you so,
your tiny pink feet,
ears like soft whispers of the street.
How you scurry beneath the world,
and how they flee at the sight of you,
scampering to and fro,
their fear—your quiet power.
That, I love most of all:
the way you rattle their bones,
the way you make them run.
I’ll slip you in my pocket,
take you home,
and together we’ll sing songs,
drink deep of dark brews.
No one will know
that once, you were a subway rat,
without a home,
just like me.
You know what becomes of us all,
not so far from now.
That is why, my little friend,
you can trust me, for I am true.
No harm will I ever let touch you.
No tears shall you ever shed,
and no dreams of screeching steel
shall haunt your sleep.
You will rest safe with me,
and no truer friend will ever you find.
I’ll watch over you until your days are done.
This is my vow, and it is true.
For I will save you,
from all traps, and glues,
from the grasp of harm.
Really, I will.
My best friend, Mr. Rat!

Hi. Getting tired of always eating in Park Slope where I live and wondering if anyone can recommend some interesting, good restaurants on Franklin Ave not too far from the 2 train.
Im here for the weekend with my 15 y/o daughter and as the title states im looking for a metal bar that allows under age to take her to. Is that a thing here? Any help is appreciated! Thank you.
I'm planning a small family (18+) birthday dinner in Brooklyn and want to look at some new places. We tend to enjoy Asian, Thai, Italian, and Caribbean cuisines but are open to fusions. I want to get a little dressed up, so something a little fancy is preferred but not breaking the bank!
Hey everyone. Looking for a restaurant to have dinner for my gf birthday. We’re gonna be just two of us. Cuisine can be Mediterranean, Mexican, American. I’m not looking like “fancy” but cute, average prices ($100-150) sounds good to me. Can be with view or quiet places. Any ideas? Thanks!!! (Can be any part of Brooklyn, open to recommendations)
I need some help with weeding and some manual labor in my backyard/lawn- I was thinking of asking some day laborers a few corners away. Taskrabbit seems a bit much- around 50-75 bucks an hour. Does anyone know what going rate would be for day laborers?
