how is the parking around that venue? and how safe is the area at night lol

Hey everyone, a long time ago on this subreddit there was a Facebook chat group with like 200-300 people in it and it was super active. Everyone would meet up, throw house parties, go to shows or events together etc.

I’ve found the discord is a bit less organized or streamlined for finding new rave fam and is better for getting info for shows

That being said I was wondering if anyone wanted to create a new rave fam or group or just meet people to vibe and go to shows with.

I’m 32 year old male from NYC btw. If anyone is interested shoot me a chat message on Reddit. If I get enough messages maybe I’ll start a WhatsApp group more focused around meetups when rolling solo and making new friends into the scene.

Howdy y'all! Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I'm very very new to electronic music (the only time I went to a rave was in the very early 2000s in DC and I don't remember anything about it! Good ole Nation), and it makes it hard to figure out what kinds of events to try. Would love to get your thoughts!

Just for context, I'm a lifelong musician (strings) whose background includes punk, ska, reggae, dancehall, opera and musicals, classic/southern rock, jazz and big band, classical, singer-songwriters, bluegrass, Delta blues, etc. I literally like everything.

So I guess what I'm looking for is an environment that would fit moreso than an artist or genre -- I'm a goofy middle-aged butch lesbo who loves loves loves to dance. I don't really drink but I'm very pro-drugs. I dress like a redneck old punk most of the time. I love meeting new people and making new friends, but am also extremely content to just vibe without talking, and tend to go to events on my own because most of my friends aren't into things like this. Also, big bonus points for decent bathrooms and free water.

It was my first time there because I've mostly avoided due to this sub. But I'm here to say that this particular Sunday day party in the restaurant was dope. Those speakers are nuts. Even with my earplugs it was loud af. I think they're trying to make the hipsters deaf. Curious to see the rest of the space. Eli Goldstein and Lauren flax killed it.as expected

Heading to NYC and would love recommendations for venues that play deep/progressive/tech house. For type of house music, I like the Anjunadeep label and like artists like Alex Cruz, Jodi Wisternoff, Nora en Pure, Marsh, Amtrac, Eli & Fur, Yotto, Luttrell, Lane8. I've been to Brooklyn Mirage before and loved it but looking for a smaller more intimate venue but similar type of artists.

For those that are familiar with SF, I'm looking for something similar to Audio for both atmosphere + type of music. Thank you in advance!

In the last 2 years since moving to New York I have had some amazing nights out and overall enjoy most house and techno shows I go to in BK.

I frequently see people shitting on Public Records in here which I find interesting. I’d say PR is a spot I’ve seen some exceptional DJ’s and am frequently blown away by the quality of the sound. But, I do understand the crowd can be off some nights and they generally oversell.

Are there other venues consistently booking good talent where the crowd is better? I don’t think I’ll stop going to PR since I live nearby and it’s more of a hike to get to Bushwick for a spontaneous night out.

Edit: The only other spot I’ve had a consistently good night at is Jupiter Disco or House of Yes

Interested to hear thoughts on Masters at Work show last night. I personally thought the music was fire, the venue selection was cool, and the crowd was fantastic. Everybody was smiling and super friendly. I hardly saw any phones out, and lots of dancing. I wish more nights out were like this.

I usually dance with a little room in front of me so I don’t get squished or squish anyone else. Lately vultures have seen that tiny sliver of space as “room” on the dance floor and filled in to the point where I can barely move. Recently I’ve spoken up more and politely asked “can you give me some space” or “please don’t stand here” and have been met with death glares or just plain ignored. I know these are GA venues but is there a better way to handle this? Or am I just in the wrong. I don’t want to be constantly moving around the venue because people can’t respect personal space

Planning on celebrating my bday catching a DJ set with some friends, but one is only 20yrs old. So I have 2 questions:

1. Will they turn her away at knockdown? (I see it says ages 21+)

2. Webster hall says ages 19+, so I'm wondering how strict they are about drinking, (bc we'd likely be sharing with the 20yr old)
