Hey all! I’m posting because I’ve misplaced a card that I got from one of the vendors in the Rhode Island Building at the Big E. It was a retailer who was selling custom keychains, glasses, etc. and he had cards about stopping big government. Does anyone have his vendor info, or better yet, info about the chapter in MA he was handing out cards for? Thanks!
I recently got a new job working with a physically disabled 23 year old woman located in Plymouth. I am looking for things to do with her around the general area! She has a van so if it’s a bit far it’s no problem, I’d love to have ideas anyway.
She is quadriplegic and nonverbal so I’m having a hard time finding things. She’s interested in horses and id especially love some ideas that are outside or fall themed to enjoy the weather before it gets too cold!
She has no use of her hands but i can help her do crafts and such.
I’ve found a few walking trails that are accessible but cannot find much besides that.
Thank you!
Best fall/harvest festivals within 2 hrs of Boston
I don’t mean Oktoberfest/drinking. I mean a farm with corn maze and hayrides. Pumpkins, petting zoo, etc. Please give me your recommendations 🙏 I’m from the deep South so getting to experience fall is very exciting to me!!
I'm looking for a place to just go for a drive tonight, no stores, no highway, just drive for a bit. Any roads around Worcester / leominster to recommend?
I got a job transfer out of state and need to break my lease 6 months before it ends. I informed my landlord with 3 months notice and I have a roommate.
I have read I’ll be on the hook for the remaining rent if the landlord can’t find anyone to fill the apartment. My roommate is deciding if they would stay and find someone else (if the landlord permits) or if they should move out too.
Any advice is appreciated - I am hoping I won’t be on the hook for 6 months of rent and that the landlord will understand.
What’s the best thing for me and my roommate to do?
We can argue day in or day out whether or not we think servers would benefit from being paid $15/hr instead of $6.75 — but we're all really missing the fact it wouldn't even go into effect fully until 2029. On top of that, many wage protections are being undone with this new law. Right now, employers are required to make EACH SHIFT meet a $15/hr minimum; this new law would change it to the average PAY PERIOD. So, right now, if you averaged $10/hr on Monday but made $20/hr on Friday, you'd have to be paid $5/hr more for that Monday shift — you won't get shit from the new law. Another note in this law is that NON-TIPPED employees can now be part of a tip pool. That means the $20 you gave your really nice waitress can be split between her, all the other servers, the bussers, the cooks, the hosts, the managers, the food runners, and the boss. For the next 5 years, she still won't be making minimum wage but will see less than $3 of your generous tip — that's assuming upper management splits the tip pool evenly and doesn't pocket most of it.
I really do urge everyone to grab that voter's information packet you got in the mail and genuinely read it. Be an informed voter before going out to the polls this November.
Looking at getting a fiberglass pool installed maybe 35’x16.
Has anyone gotten a pool in the last 6 months or so? How much was it all in? I know prices have gone up since Covid but just looking for a general idea.
Need honest opinions
A lot of people 1099 driving Uber as a second job and won’t be able to work full time. Will this result in these guys ultimately being scabs and run out of work? Kind of a slippery slope
Can see both sides of it.
I ordered my new license almost two weeks ago and I was wondering how long should I wait before ordering another one. Thank you, John McDonough
for those who have gone to salem in the past during october what would be the best way to get there from Hampton NH? drive your own car, uber, public transportation? this is my first time going during the fall so I know it’ll be busier than the summer and don’t know if there will be parking easily available.
About a 3 years ago I had a root canal done. For as long as I can remember, the top part of the root near like the grooves/bumps in your gums has been painful to touch. I complained about it a few times to my dentist, and was told it's no big deal and to obviously not touch it.
This started my dissatisfaction with my current dentist. It feels like they don't listen to anything I say, or really even talk to me. They dont go over X-Rays with me, they dont really tell me anything other than "ok you need filling, go schedule that". I feel like rush when I'm in their office, like they're just trying to get me out and go on to the next person.
When cleaning, they don't even really look at my teeth it feels like. They've *never* checked my gums or even mentioned them, despite that apparently being common practice according to people I've talked to. Theyve never really cared about my tooth sensitivity, have never discussed or asked about my diet, they dont talk to me at all. They just clean the back of my front teeth and then thats it.
I recently had a filling in August and it's been painful to chew and insanely sensitive to cold and heat. I don't want to go back there just for them to take X-rays, have nothing be wrong on them and for them to just tell me to wait some more.
I tried to get a second opinion at Taunton Dental Associates, but they barely understood my problem. I had to explain multiple times that my root canal was a few years ago, and that my filling was recent. They told me to use sensodyne for my filling (I already do that) and maybe get my bite corrected for the root canal.
I feel genuinely hopeless, like these pains aren't going to go away. Before this filling I had one of their fillings be incredibly painful before eventually falling out on its own. I feel like the dentist I get no longer communicate with me now that I am older.
I have MassHealth, it seems like no one takes it despite millions of people being on it. I called around my town and they either were only people younger than 20 (I'm 26) or just not accepting new patients at all.
I just want things to be fixed, and to have a dentist I feel like cares even the slightest about my feelings and tries to tell me whats wrong with my mouth. My coworker talked about going to one of the med schools like Harvard, BU, Tufts, etc and they really liked the care, but the travel + time it takes to do the procedures has been a little discouraging. It would feel really bad to have work done for like 5 hours only for the problems to persist.
Does anyone have a MassHealth dentist they enjoy in Bristol County?
Can be in aggregate, or by town / region.
Let's do this.
Planning on hiking at one of the DCR parks tomorrow and I’m struggling to find their photography restrictions or forums on it. I know that commercial shoots require a special use permit.
Am I good to take non-commercial photos with my camera? I know that people take cell phone pictures all the time, but that some places are iffy on actual cameras with longer lenses. If it’s going to be a no-go I’d rather not pack it 😅
I’m from Boston and I’m not too familiar with the Brockton area, so I’m wondering what there is to do with my bf once I come back home from college? we are 20 if that helps narrow down ideas
The MA State Police need to pull over drivers who clog the left lane. A car going 60 - 65 mph on 128 with 10 cars lines up behind them is dangerous. Eventually every car behind them start tailgating each other. Drivers start to get impatient and speed up to pass on the right, causing more dangerous conditions.
I think some drivers hang out in the passing lane on purpose, no idea why they would do that, but I think it's a thing.
Most drivers who do it though are simply clueless. This includes elderly drivers, newly licensed drivers and people from other countries.
"TIP POOLING" IS NOT A REQUIREMENT OF QUESTION 5
THE ONLY THING THAT IS MANDATORY IS THE INCREASED WAGE TO MINIMUM GRADUALLY OVER THE COURSE OF 5 YEARS. AND THE ELIMINATION OF THE CREDIT
Question 5 does not require tip pooling
Question 5 does not make it legal for management to collect tips
Question 5 does not make tip pooling mandatory
Question 5 doesn't force back of the house staff to be tipped out
Currently in MA it's illegal for BOH (cooks, dishwashers, cleaners, support staff) to collect any tips. (this would allow for it not force it) if you have anyone making more than 15hr at your restaurant they probably will never collect tips. Sorry. New restaurants though different story.
IF YOU'RE WORKING AT A RESTAURANT NOW IT'S LIKELY NOTHING WILL CHANGE EXCEPT WAGES WILL INCREASE
Seasonal restaurants and new restaurants will likely change adopt different pay structures than currently operating restaurants.
States where this has already passed have had zero fluctuation in how much the average guest tips. Places where ppl tipped poorly kept tipping poorly and places where ppl tipped well kept tipping well.
Servers + bartenders tip out bussers, bartenders and bartenders a percentage of their sales as a "tip out"
This tipout is referred to as a "TIP POOL" by question 5
"TIP POOLING" IS "TIPPING OUT"
FULL FOH TIP POOLING IS NOT REQUIRED BY THIS INITIATIVE.
BE INFORMED
WILL YOUR MANAGER, GM OR REGIONAL MANAGER GET LESS OF A BONUS THIS YEAR IF THIS PASSES????
It's likely they will make less of a bonus if this passes so take anything you hear from them with a grain of salt since it's in their best interest for this initiative to fail.

Hey all,
I live in SoCal at the moment and due to certain life circumstances I feel like my current situation is untenable. I've been thinking of selling off everything I can and buying a one way ticket. New England/East Coast has always been an area of interest for me. I'd probably be leaving with about $2500-$3000 in savings. I understand that moving unplanned is always risky and that life might be hard for a while but if all else fails I do have a support system in SoCal that I can come back to. I have a background in tech, about ~3-4 years worth of IT experience in a few helpdesk roles. I also spent a year as a lone sysadmin for a gold firm. I have a car but was thinking of selling that off too. Anyone have any experience with up and leaving to somewhere new/MA unplanned?
Thanks!
Right now I am leaning toward yes on all 5. Maybe a no one 4
Let’s have a educational discussion weeks before voting
Ideally between Woburn and Waltham but will schlep to the city if anyone knows a good place that would have this on with volume
