What the title said. I wanna head to the beach to see the flats in the weekend at some point in winter. What's an actual landmark I can use to get me in the right spot?
Have you ever snapped a great shot and noticed later that the water horizon line is wonky? I sure have. Taking pictures while exploring the Cape means adventure, not perfection.
This is the part of my phone settings where I can adjust the horizon. It's super wonky right now for illustrative purposes.
If you happen to be on rough seas, none of this is applicable.
The news stations are all reporting the same limited info. The location is normally locked.Anyone hear anything about this?
Surprised the dealer wouldn't do, Want to upgrade audio system Who does?

This is hands down the latest in the year I've ever kept the outdoor shower going.
I'm going away for a week but the forecast has the lowest lows between 38-47 for the next week and a half. Do I risk it or should I shut it off before I go?
And none of this turn it off and then turn it on again when I get back crap. Once I crawl through into the basement and through a million spider webs to shut it off it's staying off until the spring.
EDIT: A secondary question since the majority opinion is leaning to turn it off: Do I take one last glorious outdoor shower tonight, THEN crawl through the spidery basement and get all gross again? Or do I turn it off then take an indoor shower?
EDIT2: Whelp, I did it. I took one last shower first Then shut it down. See you in the spring!
Does anyone know of any leads where someone can go who is in an abusive and unhealthy family situation? Full time job and can pay rent. In school. Very clean, sober. Anywhere on cape. No pets. 28. I AM A WOMAN. Am happy to answer more in private messaging.
Thanks
Captured some footage of the bridge and canal! Sit back and take a couple minutes to reflect on the beautiful world we live in!
Anyone have had experience with giving birth at BID. How are the doctors/ nursing staff? How was outpatient prenatal care?
I am considering doimg this ride in 2025. Has anyone here done the century? I'm curious about difficulty and wind... is it typically very windy considering its in early October?
Hey Everybody,
So my brother offered me a spot in his new commercial building on Route 28 in Yarmouth. He's using it mainly for storage for his online business and assumes that new tenants will be hard to find so he's offering me a cheap lease. While I do appreciate the offer, I'm not really sure what would do well. There's potential for there to be a really nice storefront for something. It's not currently zoned for anything food related necessarily but a nice and easy coffee spot did come to mind.
I was curious though if anyone noticed a need or a wish for anything to serve the people in the Yarmouth area on 28.
All sarcastic and stupid ideas are welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Hey friends! So I am from the cape originally but moved away to Vermont for college 20 years ago and have lived my whole adult life there. For years I have been asking my very generational Vermonter husband to consider moving to the cape so I can be back with family and by the coast again, and the past few years he has become open to the idea and now has a job opportunity here.
One thing that I adore about Vermont and have really cultivated in my adult life is having abundant access to local meat, produce, etc. Farm to table and community agriculture is very much the way of life up here. My family's lifestyle differs from me in this way, so I have never actually had a real good feel for the community here in this regard. I was down a lot this past year helping my mom with some health issues, and I checked out a few different farm stands but that's my extent of knowledge at this point. I know it will be different and I can always stock up on my visits to VT, but would love to hear from folks on some of their favorite local resources down here on the cape.
Though pumped at the idea of fresh sea food. I have never quite stopped giving sea food the side eye up in VT.
Does anyone know what is the purpose of the overhead black digital lights on 25 heading toward 495? I have seen green dots, white or blue dots when driving towards it.
I can’t seem to find a reddit community or Strava club. Anyone know if there is a Cape Cod or Brewster-area running club?
Been having issues the past 6 weeks or so with google fi. Can call but the receiver can’t hear me. Now my ATT mobile (work phone) is no service at all. Called google fi and they said there’s a known issue with connectivity since July?!? No eta to fix.
Anyone else having issues?
I’m getting married in August in Falmouth and my chef just backed out. We have a full catering staff already secured. Does anyone know of any chefs who they can vouch for? Or who have done weddings before?
Kind of freaking out! Haha
Thanks!
Hey all! I’ve been down to the cape many times my entire life and some of my family lives there year round. I’ll be visiting on Black Friday and the weekend of, I was wondering if the fishing is still any good, and if so where would you recommend? Not looking for your honey hole but I’d like to be able to find a few fish. Staying near Yarmouth but willing to drive pretty much anywhere :)
I’m thinking we drive to Marconi Station but I’m open to suggestions.
Hi everyone. I've been offered a job in Chatham and am very conflicted. I've had so many people tell me "don't do it", "the Cape is dead during winter and too crowded during summer", etc. I'm wondering how it compares to other places in New England that are similar?
For instance, I've lived in Newport RI and Rockport MA. Newport, I found, was fairly lively year-round and I wouldn't say it was "dead" in the winter. Having said that, Newport's year-round population is ~22k, whereas Chatham's is around 6,500. Does having the whole cape make up for it at all? It seems like it would be a trek to get to most of the other towns (at least on a regular basis). I also won't be bringing a car, so I'm concerned about the availability of Uber in the off-season.
As for Rockport, similar population size to Newport but it was also easy to go to Gloucester, Salem, Beverly, etc, and it's a bit closer to Boston (and there's the commuter rail). So I never felt isolated in Rockport, the way I fear I might in Chatham.
Any advice? Does it really feel isolated and depressing in the winter? Also, how long does it really feel like winter? Are we talking January and February being slow, or Jan, Feb, March, April...?
And is it completely overrun with tourists in the summer? Again, what months are we talking? July and August? Or May, June, July, August, September...?
MOST IMPORTANTLY, what opportunities exist in Chatham for me to meet people my age (30s)? I've heard of the Cape Cod Young Professionals; is it mostly actually young professionals? Are the events well-attended? Any other suggestions for meeting people if I decide to take this plunge? (I'll meet some people at work but it's a tiny company and from what I know, mostly 40s / 50s.)
Thanks for any advice!
Poor soul jumped from the Sagamore Bridge.
In the very beginning stages of planning a vacation to Cape Cod June of 2025. Will be renting a house for 4 ppl for a week. We enjoy the beach, shopping, history, drinking. Was hoping to maybe do a day trip to Plymouth and Boston. Any particular town recommended to stay in versus another? Any info would greatly be appreciated. We’ll be driving up from Jersey.
Hearth 'n Kettle is back with new owners ― just in time to serve up its traditional Thanksgiving dinners in Hyannis and South Yarmouth. And, yes, everyone goes home with a turkey sandwich.
“We’re keeping that tradition. We heard about it from so many people. We’re very excited to keep the nostalgia of Hearth ‘n Kettle,” said the new co-owner Kami Perry.
This Thanksgiving, on Nov. 28, Hearth ‘n Kettle will serve a buffet at its new Hyannis location and soup-to-nuts plated dinners ($39.99 for roast turkey, $41.99 for broiled schrod and $44.99 for prime rib) in South Yarmouth. All dinners include a choice of pumpkin pie, apple crisp or Indian pudding for dessert.
