Prospective and Incoming Students Q&A

I’m in CGS and spending my gap semester taking some courses to figure out my interests. Initially I wanted to major in poly sci or journalism, but I don’t think I really have that much of a passion for politics and I know that journalism is a pretty screwed industry rn. I’ve always done well in history in high school, but it’s not like you can do much with that degree outside of teaching. Should I just do that? Are there any internship/employment opportunities for history majors at BU that aren’t education related?
I am not very good at math, what are the easiest finance concentration classes? Thank you
Just writing this to help out anyone who needs some extra money. For the past 2 months I've been using this AI tool called Insta Doodle (Link here) to make a decent amount of money on the side. It's a platform that allows you to generate whiteboard explanation videos. They're the type of videos you see on a lot of sales pages that explain the concept of whatever's being sold.
I've been creating and selling the videos to new ecommerce stores, Skool communities and on marketplaces like Fiverr, Freelancer, Upwork and believe it or not Etsy lol (I've also seen a few people selling them on eBay so I might try that in future). I sell basic videos for $20-$40 depending on length and upsell the voiceover which I use ElevenLabs to generate for an extra $20. Considering Insta Doodle is only $37 for lifetime access it's pretty easy to turn a profit, all you need is one sale basically and you've broken even.
On the marketplaces mentioned I just made listings and they're slowly getting more sales as they get reviews. I think success on Fiverr, Upwork and Etsy is more of a time thing, you write a decent pitch and then just wait for results. I also respond to any requests I see on Fiverr, Upwork and Freelancer where they're looking for whiteboard animation, product explanation videos or a product spokesperson (a whiteboard video is kind of a spokesperson lol).
As for selling to ecommerce stores and Skool communities I first tried cold emailing using mailing lists that I bought but I didn't have much success. I found the most success just dming accounts on Instagram and TikTok with a sales pitch, pricing and a couple example videos (The newer the business the easier they are to sell I've found). The conversion rate on these messages is actually pretty crazy, I haven't calculated the number but this is where I've made the most money.
Delete this post if it's not allowed but I thought it'd be helpful for anyone needing some extra money, we've all got bills haha.
I'm a first year Math and CS major considering courses for next semester. The major says I need to take MA 242, but I was wondering if I can get away with taking CS 132. I want it for the digital/multimedia expression hub. Is the course content the same/will it hurt in future math classes if I take CS 132? I'll speak to my advisor, but just wanted to get some opinions.
When I try to sign in to HBO Max it says welcome back and asks to start a plan. I used to be able to sign in with Xfinity on my bu email, did this change?
Has anyone taken this class with Prof. Demeritt? If so how difficult has it been?
Wondering which courses to take besides FE342
Where will election watch parties happening. Does anybody know all the addresses?
They sent an email talking about glimpse for an addition to our application but when I looked it up, literally no one was talking about it. Is it a money grabber that holds literally 0 weight or should I go ahead and do one? I already know what I’ll put in it and it’s not a hassle.
I'm graduating a semester late, and I wanted to see this as an opportunity instead to study abroad for a whole year in London since I also want to move there after I graduate, has anybody studied abroad for an entire year?
This election season has been extremely tense. People on both sides of the political aisle are fearing for their rights and safety. The candidates chosen by each side as their representative are certainly not the best options, and Americans deserve better. With all that being said, I think there is only one candidate who could truly unite us (despite how you may feel about them). Someone who understands what it’s like to be a hardworking American — someone who has refused to take no for an answer throughout their career — someone with the strength to stand up to foreign threats and make America great. I, bostonleather, officially endorse Joe Biden for president of the United States. He united us once, he can unite us again. Thank you.

Please help me🥲
I have 1 more course left to take for an elective for my minor and am looking for the easiest low commitment Questrom class to take. Ideally something with minimal participation and no group projects/big projects. I don't mind taking tests. Would appreciate any recs and also any classes to definitely avoid.
I need 2 seminars to graduate and my schedule only allows me to take these 2 specific ones. Am I screwed? Or can I ask to be included in them because without them I can't graduate on time?
Has anyone taken it? How easy is it and what are the assignments like?
Can non-CGS take this class?
Is it also available to juniors/seniors? or only to freshmen/sophomores?
I am considering concentrating in accounting, but have a few questions! Please pm me
Is anyone with the professor that is teaching SO215 in the spring (Sara Snitselaar)? If so what are your thoughts?
What are some of your favorite econ teachers? What classes did they teach?
I am arriving next semester and haven’t been able to find a group where I can talk to current and future exchange students from the college. I would like to be able to ask them some questions on their experience. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction?
