Can you take a language to cover the HUA requirement? What does that entail? Anyone know if they are looking to add more languages? I'd love to do French.
'well just pay for it on your own after the end of the 5 years'
1. Right well if that ends up being the case it is potentially alright, maybe can do just 3 credits per year or something to keep it (the PhD) alive? Not sure the best strategy?
But the employer may also have a say in whether I can continue to work/study part time after the 5 years vs return to full time work ---so that's an issue. Wouldn't want to be forced to stop a PhD because of that to go back to full time work. Better to avoid the issue by finishing in closer to 5-6 years part time if possible.
The part time online version of the PhD in systems engineering at WPI appears to be relatively new, not many people have graduated from what I understand. I think one person on linkedin graduated in 5 ish years doing it full time online. But it seems like most students are on track for something closer to roughly 7 years part time.
Trying to think of some strategies to do some work beforehand to alleviate things down the road. Literature review beforehand maybe?
2. Finding similar course material/problem sets to study beforehand maybe would help--- but how could one do that?
Also I unfortunately may have a baby at inconvenient time for this, spouse is running out of time biologically they can have a baby so anything I can do before would be great
I am writing the WPI supp essay which asks about why I am a good fit, should I say things like “you offer…” or should I say “wpi offers..”
Our MQP team is working to create a new and fun social space on campus, and we are looking for your help to make it happen. Attached is a quick survey to help us get a better sense of the WPI student population’s opinions on what a new area on campus specifically for socializing could look like. Our team will greatly value student input and want to make the WPI community a more enjoyable place. Thank you!
Hello, we are looking for participants for this research study. Commitment will be anywhere from 1.5-2 hours and you will make $15/hour (up to $30). Please email hcilab@wpi.edu if you are interested!
Hello everyone,
I'm an international student from India planning to apply Early Action II to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) for the Biomedical Engineering program. While I believe my profile is strong, I'm concerned about how my financial need might affect my chances of acceptance.
Academic Credentials:
Extracurriculars/Activities:
Financial Situation:
My family's maximum annual contribution is around 1,700,000 INR, which is approximately $20,000. I understand that financial need can impact admissions decisions for international students, especially those applying for need-based financial aid.
Concerns:
I've researched WPI's financial aid offerings and admissions statistics, and I've noticed that they are generous with scholarships. However, I'm still anxious about my admissions prospects due to my financial needs.
Any guidance, insights, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your help.
I’m not specifically looking for anything free of course, I’m just looking for someplace accessible to get painting supplies.
On my road map for the humanities and arts requirements, I have finished my depth. My intention is to finish both my Breadth and Humanities Elective this term (B-term 2024) and next term (C-term 2025) so I can do the seminar at the end of the year. For my depth, my approach was through history and international studies. I was hoping I could get some recommendations from current or past students on what would be an easy Breadth and Humanities elective course to take for these two terms. I am looking for courses that provide a light load in comparison to other courses, given that we are now in week 2, and I am doing the add/drop process now.
Hi everyone, the WPI Concert Band is having a fundraiser tonight (10/27) from 5-9pm at the Park Ave Chipotle to raise money for our spring break performance tour of Prague. If you order in person, please show the flyer below or if you order online use the code DB8AG9A.
Found this on the ground in the Dean St lot (behind Founders). Turned it in to campus police.
Anybody have a relationship with a car mechanic in the area that they trust?
How good is is the free DEKA breakfast on 10/30? It's been 2 years since I ate there. Will I wither away from food poisoning?
Am I able to apply to multiple projects at the same time? Or do I have to commit to the first one I apply to if I'm accepted? (Trying to make sure I get a spot in one of them so I'm just curious)
Thanks.
I was notified of a job interview through the Heebner Career Development Center on Handshake, and i signed up for a time slot but I have no idea where the interview link is going to be. It’s for 1pm today and I’m stressing, so if anyone has experience this before please let me know if they’re going to send it closer to 1 or if I’m screwed loll
Edit: update! I reached out to the company directly and they got the link to me, but then THEY forgot about my interview, so I sat in the waiting room for the entirety of my time slot, but they apologized and had me interview at 230 instead.
What is the best place to meet young adults in Worcester? I know there are a lot of colleges nearby. There are fraternities and clubs at WPI but I want to explore outside what I am used to. Are there any particular young adult groups that are particularly good?
Recently, I learned about an invasive plant commonly used in landscaping from a post I made of a home in Worcester. Another poster mentioned that the plant, Winged Euonymus (also called burning bush), is illegal to purchase in Massachusetts. After looking into it further, I found some of these plants on WPI’s campus. While Winged Euonymus is one example, there may be other harmful plants present as well.
This is a list of Massachusetts Prohibited Plant List on the Mass.gov website
The Mass Audubon website is an interesting resource which provides. images, descriptions, the problem and solution for Invasive Plants in Massachusetts
Heyoooo, Looking for someone to help me tweak my personal essay for college apps. I want to make sure it really stands out. If you're down to take a look and give some feedback, I'd appreciate it a ton! Thanks!
Hi everyone, im considering getting my masters in CS or DS at WPI. I graduated from WPI in May with a BS in Data Science. I would appreciate any information about the program and your experiences. I’m still unsure if I want to do it sep 2025 or 2026. Thanks!
I'll moving to wpi during the spring as a graduate student , I read that graudate housing was a bit unhygienic and stuff a while back . Have things changed since then ( since rent has gone up considerably as well )
If someone staying in graduate housing could provide a review it'd be really helpful !
Trying to change my phone number on my WPI bookstore profile since I put my old number there, but every time I hit Update it just says "Please fix the errors" even though every field is filled out properly.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Always had a massive interest in learning how to draw, but never could make the time to self-study. Was wondering what AR course, if any, at WPI would be a good jumping point to learn drawing while also taking care of the HUA requirement
How is ME 4323? I chose it over ME 4320 because reviews and people made 4320 sound like a horror story. I like vehicles and it seems useful. Any advice?
