I fell and broke my ankle on the stairs outside of my house. I know that my landlord doesn’t have their driveway or stairs up to code and would in fact show many code violations for other things as well. Do I have a case against my landlord to sue them for the damages I have occurred and am still going through? I am more than likely going to need to have surgery and it has made my working environment a lot harder on me since I have to be on my feet for my job.
I spotted Phil Rosenthal and the crew shooting on the edge of the Public Garden this morning. Which restaurant do you hope Phil checks out while he is in town?
Has anyone been to Hei Lei Moon in the last 6 months and had a good experience? It was my go to at one point, but with so many negative reviews I hesitate going back with guests who've never had the experience.
Positive and negative experience welcome.
Boston is a nationally revered hub for medical knowledge and expertise, and yet it is near impossible for a regular person to be seen. Last spring I had a medical emergency and I was able to get a consultation with a specialist, assigned and meet with a surgeon and get a successful operation in new york 3 months before I could even get an initial consultation in Boston. That was also with an “expedited” appointment inquiry after going to mass general. As much as I love this city, this is a major quality of life dilemma.
Ps if anyone knows a good urologist that can see patients within a few months please let me know!
I need to get into Harvard later today and don’t have a charlie card, what are my options?
writing from seattle. especially after the election, i’m feeling melancholy and disconnected. i miss our community and how we all rally together, how we feel like a city that sticks together.
i hope y’all are holding up ok over there.
just a boston appreciation post, i can’t wait to move back…
Stupid post but what is with Quincy Market? The cobblestone trips me. I had an ankle fracture, sprain and a lot of embarrassment. Doesn’t happen anywhere else. Is it grouted differently or the ghost of Faneuil Hall? lol this is embarrassing in itself to ask.
i have to retake my road test in mass, i turned 21 3 days ago, i purchased a massachusetts identification card for 25$ so i had some sort of id. and the lady said it was valid to buy alcohol, but everything i read says places won’t except it ..
Are there any holiday tea events meant for kids? Google has only come up with events from many years ago. When I was growing up we'd go to a "teddy bear tea" around Christmas at a fancy hotel in Philadelphia. Looking for something similar to do with my daughter. Thanks!
Hi Everyone, I am in Boston for the next 4 days, mainly being in the downtown and west broadway area.
I am intersted in chowder and seafood mainly for oysters. But what recommendations do you have for the area or in general to check out for anything to eat.
I'm going to be in Boston next week for work in the Burlington area. Thinking of getting to a Celtics game. So I have two questions that I'm hoping I can get help with!
What's the best way to get from Burlington mall area into the TD Garden? would traffic be bad with an UBER or where should i get the uber to?
There's plenty tickets available at the moment for Tuesday's game, what's the chances of it selling out? I won't be able to commit to going until Monday!
Will Trump make Mass and Cass worse?
At east boston marina just now! Nobody hurt thankfully
Hi, i’m (24m) most likely moving to Boston in January because of my job as a Flight Attendant. however I don’t make a crazy amount (70k) income wise and i’ve been told housing is relatively high priced. In the cities i’ve been based in prior, universities often times had off campus housing that catered to students but allowed generally anyone under 30 to live there. your own room but shared common space situations. it’s been a fun way to socialize with new people as I enter with not a lot of local friends or contacts.
Is this also a thing in Boston, and to that same extent has anyone had any good experiences they’re willing to share? i’d rather not rely on reaching out to individual strangers on the internet to rent a bedroom if I can find managed properties doing the same thing :)
edit: thank you to everyone who has replied so far, I can start my search now ☺️
Little trinket stores, thrifts, or anywhere else that had rings/earrings <$20?
Hi all, I’m not sure if this is allowed or not. Is there anything planned for this weekend? I know it won’t mean much nationally, I just want to be near people and talk honestly.
I have a POS I’ve been trying to get rid of for ages. The city finally booted it, can I forfeit it to them? They’re just gonna tow it anyways when street cleaning happens. Do I need to take the license places off? I know this is dumb, but I just really don’t care.
I got asked out on a date to boston, it became my task to decide what food we'll get. Welp i barely know boston and need some help.
Im comfortable with most prices, just nothing that'll break the bank, 50 a person is kind of what im anticipating
I saw plenty ad commercials for the ride share unions and it passed. And that's a pro-union vote which are some of the hardest votes to win. But I saw nothing about 4 and it seemed like it was just a legal weed type vote. I saw no commercials about how magic mushrooms are making HUGE breakthroughs in the treatments of soldiers with PTSD. There should've been commercial after commercial hammering this fact. My father had to ask a poll attendant about #4 because he had no idea and the text on the ballot was about 10 paragraphs. Like all the other uninformed seniors and went, "Oh, more drugs for the hippies. NO!!!!"
In short, magic mushrooms can become legal with better messaging. Don't give up this, it's very beneficial and help millions of Americans.
Hey everyone! I'm a recent Computer Science grad currently stuck in the South. It's my absolute dream to move to Boston, but the entry-level job market in tech is brutal right now. Rather than waiting around for months to maybe get a tech job, I’m ready to get up there by any means necessary, even if it means taking a totally different job to get started. I’m not picky—I just need a role that will give me a bit of grace to move and will likely hire me without much work experience.
My main challenge is that I can’t apply for an apartment without a Boston job lined up. Has anyone made a similar move or have tips on what types of jobs in Boston might give a little relocation breathing room? I’d be grateful for any leads or advice on fields or companies that might be a good starting point. The dream is to get out of my current situation and into Boston!
I'm open to living in Somerville, Cambridge, or Boston proper. Any advice would be very appreciated. I hope I can join y'all soon!
Looking to do a quick girls weekend getaway but we're really hoping to stay at a hotel that has an outdoor hot tub. We've done the Omni Seaport with their rooftop pool and hot tub and that was fantastic. Any other recommendations? Willing to travel within 2 hours so long as the destination has things to do (think shopping and dining). Any recommendations?
We're in our own little progressive capitalist bubble. What actually could change for us?
