Big E food worth trying?

The big e is right around the corner. What is worth eating? I always go for the same stuff, but I’d be willing to go out of my comfort zone to try what others enjoy! And what is worth the money at each state building?

Can i save money on power over eversource

I've heard there are third party companies you can sign up for that are supposed to get your power bill cheaper. Are those things scams or is there really some savings by paying through some other company?

Live Music Venues?

I don't want to go to Northampton. Where in Chicopee/Holyoke/Springfield can I just show up or pay a cheap entry fee to see some sort of music and drink?

Who do you use for security/home automation?

I see a ton of ADT signs around here but haven't heard the best about them (poor customer service, limited automation) just curious who y'all go thru. My neighborhood is a "deluxe".

Without cars, Forest Park would be the perfect park 😔

Wish they would shut down the loop to car access, only allow park maintenance to drive on the main loop. Keep everyone off to side parking lots and make everyone walk into the park for their sport games.

Too many people fly down the road going 40mph. Would be great if the main loop was only for walking, runners, and cycling.

Darts in the south of the valley?

I don't want to go up to Packard's or Watering Hole in Northampton to play farts and didn't see darts at Smith's Billiards. Is there somewhere with darts in town or like Holyoke or something?

Looking for a hair stylist, recs?

I'm a trans woman looking for a queer to cut my hair and I don't want to go up to Northampton, the vibes up there suck but I also don't want someone to butcher my hair or make me wildly uncomfortable for an hour and then give me a bad haircut, you know?

Overcharged at South End Package Store – Need Advice

Hello.

Last night, I stopped by the South End Package Store to pick up a White Claw. To my shock, I was charged $32.05. I didn’t realize I was overcharged until this morning. I'm quite upset and concerned that this might be a case of fraud.

I'm planning to go back to the store to speak with a manager about this issue. If they refuse to refund me, would it be advisable to dispute the charge with my bank? Has anyone had a similar experience, or do you have any tips on how to handle this situation?

Seeking Female Soccer Players!

We're a Connecticut-based coed soccer team looking for a couple of women to round out our roster. The league starts this Sunday (9/08) and runs through 11/3, playing 7 total games with 2 weekends off (holiday and bye week). We have players (like me!) with a low skill level and some players who play at a higher level, but it's all about fun! We are in the lowest tier of a 2 level league. You should join us!

Details:

7 games

Rotating fields between East Hartford, Manchester, East Windsor, & Windsor Locks

80 minute games, 2 refs, 11v11, coed, even gender split

League fee between $50-$60 depending on final roster size

If you're interested, send me a message!

Non-member lap swimming

Hi everyone,

I will be staying in Agawam for two weeks and was wondering if any of the local gyms/aquatics centres did lap swimming without needing a membership? As in, pay per session. Willing to drive around Springfield/West Springfield or even further. Thanks :)

Recommendations for 1st birthday party in winter

Hello everyone :) I’m planning my baby’s 1st birthday party for the winter.

I know everyone says the early birthdays aren’t a big deal, but the 1st birthday is to my family. I have a big family with a ton of kids, and would love for all of us to get together and celebrate my sweet little guy.

Does anyone have any location recommendations?

Why do all the major chain stores seem to avoid Springfield?

I noticed all the major chain stores seem to open way on the outskirts of SPringfield or the neighboring towns. There's a Big Y and a Stop and Shop deep inside Springfield but the stop and shop is closing. How come no major businesses want to be located inside springfield despite a decent amount of people living there who presumably would shop there?

Why are there four Italian social/cultural orgs in Springfield?

I'm counting the Dante Club in West Springfield, but still: what does the Italian Cultural Center do that the Mt. Carmel Social Club/Casa Italiana/Sons and Daughters of Italy, a stone's throw away, doesn't? And then there's The Italian-American Citizens Club. I've lived in towns with two country clubs (usually the founders of the second wouldn't be admitted to the first, creating a kind of old money/new money divide) but I don't understand the politics behind these clubs all co-existing. Can a local explain this?
