5.4 Flex fuel Engine Swap

I have a 2007 F150 5.4 3v with flex fuel. I cannot seem to find a flex fuel engine anywhere near me, but I can find a lot of the regular gas ones. Is there a difference in swapping them? Does anyone know?

Issue with 2014 F150

Cross posted from the ford F150 community.

I have a 2014 F150 XLT 4WD 3.5L 6cyl with eco boost with roughly 180k miles on it. It has a constant misfire. I believe the OBD2 reader picks it up as a Cyl 3 misfire.

We’ve replaced the spark plugs 3 times. We have even replaced the coil packs. We’ve even moved everything around.

At first I was thinking it was the torque converter but after more research it seems unlikely.

Basically it’s a struggle to get the truck to accelerate and when it does it shudders like it has a bad case of the heebie jeebies. Letting off the gas and then pressing down again can make it stop for like 2.5 seconds sometimes I can then get up to speed but it takes a minute. Obviously I don’t do any highway driving with it unless absolutely necessary.

Today i pushed the pedal down and went to accelerate in 6th gear I had to press the pedal all the way down and it didn’t change the RPMs at all until the truck itself downshifted all the way to third and then it rev’d up.

I’m out of ideas and I cannot take it to the dealership right now. I’ve taken it to Firestone but they can’t figure it out either.

Figured I’d reach out here and see if anyone has/had this particular issue or an idea to fix it. 😅

Dealership has access to my vehicle's data

Hello,

I own a 2022 ford f-150, and I inadvertently noticed while at the dealership, they have access to a lot of information regarding my vehicle. I do own the truck, but make payments. The dealership can see error codes fired, my mileage, fuel range, oil, etc.

I do not feel comfortable with my dealership having access to this level of information on my truck. Is there a way to disable their access?

Can you identify this starter noise/problem on a Cmax?

Can anyone tell me what the problem is when trying to turn over the engine? Is it starter motor or something else? Double checked the battery and it isn't that. It's 2009 2L Cmax.

Any pointers welcome...

Not sure if audio is working on the vid upload, so here is the Original vid

Going to look at a ‘01 expedition with the 4.6, one owner and 80k original miles. Anything to look out for? Seems like it’s been used as an around-town mom car.

6.8 Sparkplugs

2004 Excursion with the 6.8. I believe all Excursions were made with the 2 valve engines, prone to spitting plugs. (https://www.tsbsearch.com/Ford/07-21-2). This vehicle is new to me and I’m going to replace the spark plugs … planning to use Motorcraft OEM, which model plug should I use?

Should I preemptively sleeve any of the cylinders? What should I look for when I’m changing them?

TYIA!

2013 F150 Ecoboost CEL’s after dealer service

2013 Ecoboost, dash lit up like a Christmas tree after maintenance.

2013 Ecoboost was leaking oil and coolant from seemingly every orifice. Took it to the dealership and it was diagnosed as valve cover gaskets, vacuum pump, front timing cover, oil and coolant lines to both turbos, and turbo gaskets.

Bought all the parts, factory ford parts, and had the dealer install them. Charged me $3160 for 24 hours of labor and now 1.5 days after I picked it up it’s throwing codes p0234, p0238 and p007d.

Service engine light is on, wrench light is on. Truck has no acceleration and shakes like you wouldn’t believe. Obviously I’m going to be speaking with the service manager, but is there anything I should be looking for?

Also, should I experience any pushback from them what is my recourse?

West Virginia if it’s relevant.

Bell Ford 2024 Ford Mustang

To whom this may concern or reach ,

In 2012 my mother purchased me a 2001 Ford Mustang and it was the best gift I could have received as a young adult . I had it for over 60k miles(purchased at 90k) , and my only issues ever were spark plugs and alignment(it was a 2001 in 2012 so no complaints about maintenance like that ever) . Fast forward to 2023 and the brand new 2024 Ford Mustang comes out and it’s fully upgraded to the TEE , inside & I’m thinking I’m going to get the best Mustang to date … wrong unfortunately.

Prior to purchasing this brand new 2024 Ford Mustang , I owned and eventually traded in a perfectly running conditioned 2019 Chevy Camaro with 0 issues other than a cracked windshield (that was my second purchased Camaro and NEVER had any issues ever) that I had 0 issues keeping at that but again I was under the impression the Ford Mustang belts and Whistles all were aligned .. wrong .

Since the purchase of this vehicle in November 2023 , I’ve had the same 3-4 consistent issues that at this point are a nuisance to myself seeing how it having to pay $500 a month for such vehicle . Since the first week of purchase , I’ve noticed a loud static in dash unit when in use . If I touch my screen to turn on my A/C , turn my music on or off /up or down, put my car into reverse/drive/park or pretty much any time my screen is being used I hear a static so loud to where it seems like everything is going to go out! Was told this is a system issue and a “update through the air” would help the issue and two updates have been sent and neither have fixed such issue . My AC unit has gone out twice( first being in March 2024 and then again 2 1/2 weeks later after it was taken to the same service shop (Bell Ford) as it was purchased . Lastly , almost every speaker in the vehicle sounds like it’s going out . Brought this to their attention and was told the speaker was switched out only for the same issue to persist afterwards .

I didn’t want to make the long drive to the dealership multiple times, so I waited until my first oil change to get issues looked at because I thought they would be something Ford could fix quick , fast and in a hurry but that hasn’t been the case at all . I’ve been without my vehicle for almost 3 weeks now in total and this isn’t acceptable, especially with this being a 2024 model . I was told they have a buy back program in their vehicles and I attempted to have that be the way this issue comes to an end and all parties would be at a even loss seeing how I traded in a perfectly running car , but was denied for some weird reason so now I’m FORCED to go this route .

If you can AVOID the brand new 2024 Ford Mustang , please do so! Save yourself money , time and the stress it’ll bring . I’ve owned Chevy twice and never had any issues and my spouse owns a Kia and same with that company no issues at all . When searching online I seen a lot of the same issues and I’m afraid once my 36mo/30000 miles warranty is over I’m going to be paying more in repairs than ever so … and again I own a 2024 so that should tell you a lot . I hope this reaches someone and helps out the next .

Will be sending this email out to various people in contacts with yourself and on every Ford platform (including Google , Yelp and every website associated with Ford) to pre-warn others of current issues and status of the 2024 Ford Mustang

Question about auto-resume while using ACC. 22 & 24 Escape

I just bought a 2022 Ford Escape SEL PHEV with the Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ (acc w/start & stop).

I had to take it in to get the sunroof shade repaired and am driving a loaner 2024 Escape ST Line w/auto start & stop.

The screens are obviously different. But today in traffic, stopping with ACC, "Auto Resume" displayed on the dash and sure as shit, when the vast in front of me went, so did my loaner, without having to press resume or tap the gas pedal. It seemed like I was stopped longer than 3 seconds (I was watching, waiting for it go away.)

My 22 will go if stopped for a very short period of time, but certainly doesn't tell me "auto resume" is engaged.

Is this just a newer feature that wasn't on the 22s, or is there some setting that I'm missing? I couldn't find any information about this in the manual (except for the 3 second thing....but the 24 says nothing about the "Auto Resume" display.)

My commute sucks and it would be awesome if I didn't have to constantly resume my ACC.

Sales tax question

I bout a new Ford Escape two months ago and still have not got it registered (I have transferred plates from my other vehicle that I traded in) as I’m trying to come up with the almost 2,000 sales tax. My dad told me that if I don’t get it done ASAP they can raise my interest rates and my $760 car note will be a lot higher. Is this true or is my dad just saying this so I will hurry up and get it done? This is the first brand new car I’ve ever had and i wiped out our savings/tax return on the down payment so been trying to play money catch up ever since.

Help with my Escape?

Can anyone point me in the direction of what is wrong with my new car? Less than a year ago I bought a brand new 23 Escape Titanium Hybrid. Almost immediately after getting it I started noticing that sometimes the screen in the car would glitch out and I would have to restart (reboot?) the car to fix it. I never really thought too much of it until about a month ago when the entire car wouldn't start at all. Well, to be clear it started but the computer didn't seem to recognize that and kept prompting me to turn the car on. Since it didn't think the car was running I also was unable to turn the car off or shift it into any gears or neutral. Also there was a strong smell of gasoline and every warning light on the car was on. After 30 minutes the car seems to time out and shut off on its own which I guess is a good thing. I had it towed but since it couldn't be in neutral they just had to yank the car onto the truck forcibly which is probably great for the car (sarcasm). By the time Ford looked at it the following day it wasnt doing any of these things. However, they did say they saw the faults in the computer so knew I wasnt making it up. They gave the car back to me after fixing nothing.

Fast forward a month to yesterday and it did it again. Ford seems clueless, but anyone out there have something like this and figure it out? Im tired of getting stranded places because Tx is starting to get real hot out during the day.

Freon and pag oil amount

I am unable to read the sticker under the hood for the amount of Freon to add to the compressor. Does anyone know the amount, where I can find that information or at least how I can get a new sticker with that information? I have a 2011 Ford flex limited.

2024 Escape Key Fob programming

I keep beating my head against the wall for my answer.

With Google, I find TONS of ford dealership sites talking about how to do it, but they do not list model years. One reddit post talked about what I was asking, but there were no real answers.

Since the 2024 Ford Escape MyKey is not a feature, does this mean self programming spare keys has been removed as well? On my 19 Fusion, you take both fobs + a blank fob and put them in a slot, followed by ignition presses, swap, ignition presses, etc.

Build your own Ford Package

A while ago my dad was talking to me about one of his co workers in canada who purchased this Build-Your-Own-Car package from Ford where he was sent every single part of a car in boxes with instructions and he spent 2 years assembling the car.

When I tried searching for that online I didn’t find anything. Is this something that actually exists or did the co worker just lie lol?
