I'm getting my 89 fixed, it's a single cab, long bed, dual tanks. 302 w/ 5 speed, 4wd. 40k miles, needs love, but mostly cosmetic and oil pan gasket.
I want get better mpg for highway commute to work, I won't be doing the 50mi (one way) trek everyday with it, but 11-12mpg hurts to think about.
Any ideas for upgrades, driving habits, tire size, diff ratios that you might have?
Passenger seatbelt doesn’t click , 2003 Ford F150 supercab , what kind of options do I have?
A cup that won’t move around, for coffee or what not.
For about 4 years now, my auto locks on my 2011 F250 XLT don't engage. I've had hubs replaced and last summer, the seals. Still nothing. One of the mechanics in the shop insists it's a pain in the nuts to hunt down the cause. I do have a mighty vac that I might try at the knuckles to see if it holds.
My question though is, knowing the vacuum isn't working, can I just keep the hubs locked manually and engage the t-case when needed without harming anything?
I was told if I kept the hubs locked, I was "essentially in 4WD." But I've been reading otherwise.
I'm in Northeast Vermont and it sucks having to pull over on a busy road to manually engage the hubs if the snow starts flying hard. For plowing, I just lock them in before I start the job.
I’m looking for a mid-90s Ford truck, ideally an F250. I like the way they look and have wanted one for a while.
I won't use it as a high-mileage daily driver but will drive it on weekends, around town, and for occasionally towing a trailer. Hopefully it's reasonably reliable in that role for a while.
I live in the Northeast, where rust is an issue on older trucks. I would consider buying something without rust in another part of the country and having it shipped or going to pick it up, although I would want to be pretty sure that it’s worth getting before I commit to making the trip. I’m pretty handy in general (construction) but not a car mechanic.
My budget is around $15,000. I'd like the truck to look nice but it doesn't need to be perfect.
What’s the best way to go about finding a good one?
1995 F150 and my first truck! I need to remove that upper windshield tint because it’s a little jarring while driving it. Anyone have any recommendations for a CarPlay unit? I’ve seen ads for ones that just sit on your dash that plug in to the cigarette outlet but I want one I can actually install where the radio is
Hi so I’m looking at used trucks to buy, I know nothing about trucks and it would be my first one. I messaged this guy about his 99 ford triton. It has 138k on it, he just got new spark plugs, rear brakes, it need a recharge on the AC compressor and it just passed inspection. It was previously used as a work vehicle for a plumber and now he uses it as his daily. What are some questions that I should be asking? Or when I go to throughly look at it, what are some things I should be looking for?
For context - bought the truck in July and after owning it for 2 weeks I had a thermal sensor go bad & made the truck basically non-drivable. Had it towed to the dealership to get fixed around 3,500 miles. Got my truck back 2 weeks later and drove it to the 7,500 mile mark & promptly had the oil changed (that’s all they did though, no filter replacements or anything of that nature). 2 weeks later - driving down to Columbus (250mi from home base) & I get the notification my oil life is low? Odd, but whatever, checked ford pass app & boom, same thing. 5% & 480 miles until empty. Dealership that did original oil change never mentioned anything looking off, possible there’s still sensor issues? Not big in to cars so any help before I get it to the dealership on Monday is appreciated!
I have a 2008 F-150 and when I’m driving and trying to maintain a steady speed my rpm’s rev up and not shift till I stomp the accelerator to get it to shift. What could the problem be?
Hello, Truck Community -
I am posting this for my dad. His 2020 F-150 has an issue with the passenger door lock. We went to get into it the other day and the passenger door didn't respond to the fob or the manual unlock on the driver's side. He ended up having to push it open from across the cab. After that, it wouldn't shut. The catch in the door isn't moving. We ended up taking my car, but in order to secure the vehicle, we lashed the seatbelt through the interior door grip and wedged something under it to create enough tension to hold it fast.
His dealership doesn't have an opening until December 10, but we're hoping to work this out ourselves before then. Does anyone have any ideas of where to start? I read on www.f150forum.com that it could be a fuse issue, and we can check that out tomorrow. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Hoping to identify this model, I do know it's a Ford, it's my grandpas and my dad told me he always loved his Fords.
I would LOVE to commission someone to make a model for me for my dad but I would need to likely find some more photos of one so they could accurately create it for me!
Any help would be appreciated!

Hey all,
I have a 2011 F-350 and recently got a Torklift North front hitch installed on it. I'm looking for a hitch-mounted spare tire carrier to make it easier to access my spare since 99% of the time my truck camper is on my truck.
I'm running 265/65R20 KO2s and having a hard time finding options or clarification on carriers that can handle a tire this size. Does anyone have recommendations or experience with a similar setup?
Any advice would be appreciated!
I recently acquired a 2011 F250 XLT 8 foot bed. It was a work truck, so there is NO electronic ANYTHING. Manual lock and rolling window etc. PRoblem comes when I was going to buy a carplay, I found no auxillary audio jack. Is there no way for me to connect modern devices to the car's audio system (without tearing into it) ? I am pretty sure there is no bluetooth b/c of the manual doors/windows etc. I also never had a carplay before, does it have its own speaker system, or does it connect to the car audio (which is what I always assumed)?
What’s y’all’s thoughts and opinions on these, 10th Gen’s receive a lot of hate because of their looks, but I personally think they look great.
I’ve been contemplating this for some time now and I’m dead set on a 7.3 swap. I’ve seen some good deals on zf6 equipped 7.3 powerstrokes which are wrecked and I was just wondering if there’s anything I should know as someone who has limited mechanical knowledge on diesels.
Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to level my F150. I've heard properly lifting/leveling a 81-96 f150 you need drop pivot arm brackets, drop radius arm brackets and a drop pitman arm. But I can't find any kits for this stuff (although I have found individual parts). A lot of people seem to just have springs or spacers, but that introduces camber and I want to do it right and upgrade/add things to not compromise other parts.
Anyone have advice or experience?
And maybe some suggestions on new wheels and rims :^)
It was quite dry and dusty in SD last month when I was there hunting. Then it rained and everything that was dusty turned to muck. I said bye bye to my toolbox and headache rack and hello to this beauty for $75. Sold both the rack with lights and toolbox for more than I paid for them. Going to make some diy deck’d drawers out of plywood and line them with marine carpet or rubber or something so I have storage again. And I’ll need a lock on the tailgate too.
