Hey, i have bought a Ford Explorer EV in EU and looking for a set of winter wheels. I can see that the original wheels are 8.0J on the front and 8.5J on the rear axle. Can i fit 8.0Jx19 ET45 on the rear axle aswell? ( I know the tires are different )
Hi all, I just got a 2022 Ford Explorer, I went to set the door panel code and it asks for factory 5 digit code. Is there anyway to get that code without paying the dealership to run it and figure it out? I don’t want to pay $50-$60 to run the coder to figure it out at the dealership…any ideas?
Strange noise in rear left. Only audible from the inside and is audible while parked and driving. Does anyone know what this is?
Hello I’m a night hunter and hunt out of my 2018 explorer. Stealthily pulling into fields in the pitch black with my LED strip DRL’s is not ideal. Seems to be no way to completely “go dark”. I’ve briefly messed with ForScan but without playing with the “as built” coding can’t seem to figure anything out. Even the interior dome lights I’ve just resourced to unplugging them since I can’t turn them off. If anyone can help please chime in! Last resort option will be splicing into the fuse and just adding a kill switch.
Hello guys!
Does anyone know how to manually put the seat down it stop working and it got stuck there thinking of replacing it and want to remove it to put a new one in.
Hey guys, I got a Ford explorer sport 2018 and I’m about to change the coolant, would you have a preference brand or should I go with motorcraft? Which coolant color should I pick? Thank you!
Recently I have been hearing a noise that was driving me nuts, almost like a rattling noise. It sounded like it was coming from the drivers side door. After realizing something felt off about my A Pillar, I decided to pull up the top to find the top clip had broken and fell into the hole, does anyone know where it leads and if there is any chance I could get the clip out?
Hey everyone. I have a 2017 Platinum that I noticed a kind of clicking noise amd saw that a belt was tearing. Saw it underneath by the passenger side tire. Just checking if the serpentine belt is the only belt used or if there are others. Thanks
So is this a good car? It's only got 140k miles and is for sale for $2400. Currently got a 96 but has electrical issues and lots of cosmetic qol issues and is basically my shit box. The new one is in a lot better condition and has Maintenance reports. Was in 1 accident as a fender bender that dented the back hatch. Trying to avoid problematic cars cuz the last 2 I bought were just bad engine design.
I’ve been trying to do some research and none of what I have found online seems to apply to my situation.
My homelink LEDs won’t light (and it won’t work) and my driver side vanity light does not work. The passenger side vanity light turns on with the doors open or closed. I believe fuse 1 in the passenger compartment fuse box controls home link and the vanities but since only one of them is out I’m not sure that’s the issue (I’m having trouble accessing it at the moment because of my size and back issues I’m experiencing but will keep trying to check it and replace).
Is there another fuse that only affects the home link and driver side? Is there something else I should try other than replacing the visor? I’m certainly open to it but trying to diagnose first. If that’s the path, and anyone knows the part number I’d appreciate it but haven’t tried searching for it yet.
Anything else I’m missing? Thank you!
I have an Explorer XLT 2023 that I have connected to my phone via bluetooth for music. I have NEVER listened to AM radio. For some reason the audio is now reverting to AM when I turn it on. It use to automatically go to BT. Any ideas to fix this? I can't find a setting that makes BT the default audio input
I hate my halogen housings on my 07 Explorer Sport Trac, but I literally cannot find any other aftermarket option. I can find projector housings for 1st-3rd gen Explorers and for 5th gens, but no company seems to make any aftermarket housings for my gen. Are there any options beyond being the asshole with LED bulbs in halogen reflectors?
Evening folks, quick ask for the experts in the community.
140k miles, 2018 sport, Michigan. Used on pavement, gravel, hard pack roads
Recently over the last couple weeks I’ve noticed when normally braking that somewhere between say 30-60% brake pressure I’ll get a very noticeable wobble. More than 60 or less than 30, no wobble. If I hard brake, no wobble. Feather the brake and gently slow her down from highway speed I can avoid the wobble. As I get below 30 mph or so, no wobble. It doesn’t yank or turn the steering wheel, definitely front end.
I did my brakes roughly 50k miles ago and I’m getting ready to swap out the struts as I drive a lot for work.
Could this be a strut issue or should I be looking somewhere else as well to address the problem?
Any advice appreciated!

Looking at buying one of the following Explorers. Trying to keep all the options and differences straight while figuring out which one is the best deal. If money were no object I would buy the 2019 Sport as it has everything I want, but it is the most pricey of the bunch and I'm not sure if it's worth it. For reference, I prefer black with a bench seat.

Codes are 171 and 174. What’s causing these ? Runs fine drives fine..
Hello Everyone,
I have ford explorer 2015 base edition, everything is perfect except that I have to increase liquid level frequently every 30-40 day, is it water pump issue or thermostat ? do you recommend to replace them with motorcraft brand.
I afraid this might cause any damage to engine as temperature here goes above 55c.
Thanks.
Didn’t too too shabby in my opinion. Averaged 18mpg, total trip 500 miles. Not bad for ex cop car with 166K miles I think.
Not really the daily yet, but it will be at some point. Getting window tint in a couple weeks.
Still have CEL P0420/430 which Iv pretty much put on the back burner. Wouldn’t be surprised if the cats are toast.
So my light came on last week, I went to AutoZone to get the code for it and they gave me code P0442 which is EVAP System Leak Detected (small leak). Have any of you ever had this problem, if so how did you fix it? It’s a 2020, someone did recommend adjusting/cleaning the gas cap but it doesn’t even have one and I don’t think that’s the issue. Confused on how to proceed.
I'm looking to possibly purchase a 2019 that recently had its rear AC lines replaced due to leaking. All the work has been done and everything's working correctly now, I'm just wondering if this is normal or a sign of any bigger potential issues? My first thought was the known issues with the water pumps in these but from what I understand it was just the rear lines that had issues.
Long story short, my late uncle’s 2017 Ford Explorer Sport EcoBoost is up for grabs and I admittedly am a bit out of my depth on almost anything Ford related. My uncle babied every car he ever bought and was very meticulous about maintenance. I took a quick drive in it this weekend and it accelerates fine, brakes fine, and handles tremendously. The only rear issue I’d noticed is it needs a new battery and there’s some small paint bubbles on the hood. After reading some things about the ecoboost’s propensity to basically grenade itself on account of the faulty internal water pump, I didn’t know if it was really a good idea. I plan on getting a full Pre-purchase inspection to put me at ease but thought I’d consult you guys on whether or not there are any other things I should worry about in this car?
The stats:
I have a 2021 Explorer ST, it has 19,000 miles I just got it used a couple weeks ago. I have noticed on the highway when cruising at 75-85 mph the back seats are shaking. I can feel a shutter throughout the whole car when cruising at 80 or higher. Does anyone know what this could be or if this is a common Explorer thing? Is it worth taking it back to dealership to get it checked? Thank you!
Anyone know what would cause a rattling noise when starting my car? It doesn’t do it every time just after it sits for a while?
I purchased a used 2021 Ford Explorer Limited with about 27k miles yesterday and I noticed a sounds coming from the engine. At the dealer the sales guy brushed it off as a normal sound but I just have a feeling it's not. I should have pushed more on that but I didn't.
I'm not mechanically inclined but it sounds like it's coming from some sort of pulley. Is this normal? Should I be taking it back and having them fix the sound? Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
