it’s time for me to part ways with my 4WD 89 ranger XLT. Not sure what exactly the issue is, but pretty sure it needs a new clutch/ transmission work, the engine runs fine but it isn’t exactly drive-able because of the clutch/transmission. There’s a leak in the rear window that has let a lot of moisture in while it had been sitting for the past few months, so the interior is a little mildewey, I’ve dehumidified and bombed it with anti-mold stuff but it’s still a little gnarly. The speedometer doesn’t work, the headliner also needs to be replaced. On top of that the tags just expired. Pros that I can think of-aside from it being really cool are an upgraded sound system, relatively new AT tires, and minimal rust. Basically, the amount of work needed would cost a lot more than I can afford right now, and I lack the tools/space/know-how to do everything myself. How much $$ do y’all think would be a fair asking price?
Looking to replace the housing and bulbs for a '98 XLT. I see a lot of them fit "1998-2011", but later versions have one housing assembly and the '98 has one housing for headlights and another housing for the bumper lights.
Can I install the single housing without much effort? Or should I stick to buying the bumper housing?
Hey everyone I have some serious vacuum line problems what is the most common line to leak-thanks
I realize that this is not the 5G group. 5G seems to be dead. I'm trying to replace the speakers on my 2019. The new speakers I bought fit like they came from the factory. The problem is that the speaker connector does not match the OEM connector. They are almost identical, with the Ford part being maybe 1/4" wider. I'd really like to create an adapter jumper. The problem is, I cannot find the Ford connector. It doesn't seem to be in their parts catalog. Before I start cutting and soldering, does anyone have any information on where I might find the connector, or even the part number or description?
Need some advice.
The assessment says:
Converter damaged / ring adrift on transmission – No Drive $7400.00inc
We have a 1993 Ford Ranger that was gifted to us by a family member. The only problem is they didn’t take the best care of it, so it has a long laundry list of problems with it. The good, No rust at all, only 150,000 miles The bad, Freeze plug, water pump, transfer case, rear differential, tie rod ends, transmission cooler lines. I don’t think it’s a money pit, these are just things that normally wear out, right? Worth putting $4,000 into a free truck?
Considering buying a ‘97 ranger that does not run and drive. Seller says it’s the fuel pump. Is there a way to verify that the fuel pump is in fact the issue and not something more serious? Or is it just too big of a gamble to believe the seller? Thanks!!
How much mpg are you getting? I am looking at XLT 4x4.
Stupid question but bear with me. Radiator sprung some kind of leak that I can't diagnose, lines seem fine, just going to get the whole thing replaced. Had to drive the truck home and noticed the dashboard brake warning light pop on. I'm still working on understanding my truck and am seeking to figure out whether or not there could be a correlation between those things. I know what the radiator does and that it doesn't have anything to do with the brakes, but I figured maybe there's something going on I don't know about. Mostly just trying to figure out if I should expect to fix more than just the radiator.
Edit: May be relevant to mention I just passed 100k miles.
I have a manual 1999 ford ranger with the 3.0. When I first got it, it had a rough idle constantly, not super bad but definitely there with no CEL. I recently cleaned the idle air control valve with throttle body cleaner and replaced the intake hose that goes from the filter to the throttle body because it had a rip in it.
Now the truck idles nicely most days but sometimes it has the same off idle. Like once or twice a week. It doesn't matter if the truck is cold or hot. When it does it, it does it right when I start it up and when it's warmed up. Any ideas?
Started the truck today and noticed a pretty strong vibration going on. Engine is running fine it seems like, but it vibrates pretty bad. Bad spark plugs or ignition coils? Scanned the truck to see any invisible issues since the CEL was not on and noticed the U2023 code as well. Any thoughts?
I can not for the life of me accurately locate the thermostat housing hah! Every single piece of information/video online is not quite the same as what I'm looking at in the engine bay of my ute... It's an Australian, 2010 Ford Ranger PK xl 2.5L tdci with the WLAT motor... Surely there is someone out there who knows where it is on this particular model 😂 I'm going insane and I don't want to go following and pulling every hose and undoing every bolt to the block that feeds off the radiator...
Help please..!
What's the best approach to this dent, is it an easy enough fix I can do it myself or should I go to a professional?
In my '92 2.9 the thermostat is about the shit the bed on me. I've looked up a couple guides, but none are for the 2.9. I shouldn't have to take a whole lot off or drain the coolan, right? Also do I have to use gasket maker? TIA
Hey! I’ve got the below truck: 2000. Ranger XLT 4.0 OHV. 2wd.
Lean codes. Sweet White smoke on start up, smoke stops when top temp and no longer sweet.
Lower intake manifold was installed incorrectly by me. Oil is clean and not milky. Coolant is clean and not oily. As the truck sits over night coolant collects in cylinder 1 and 4.
Lower intake manifold is off. We have taped off the coolant passages and filled with water to see if cylinder 1-4 fill with fluid.
What else could it be?
Please let me know if additional details are needed.
Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for replacement fenders or simply removing them? The plastic restoration only goes so far for so long.
I must be getting old and mature. I’m doing my road trip maintenance a couple days before my upcoming road trip, not a couple hours.
Anyone know where I can find this nipple? It leaks even with a new hose. Thanks everyone. FFR!!!
Manual transfer case shifts into 4 low easily but won’t shift out. I’ve tried rolling back and forth and all the usual stuff.
Anyone with the next gen ranger sporting the night hawk grille from 4x4AT in matte? Keen to have a look at some photos. Most I can find online is the glossy variant.
Thanks!
