Commmunity Rules |
---|
1. Be respectful of other pony/muscle cars and leave the insults at home. This community is about a common love for Mustangs, regardless of the number of cylinders they have or the appearance mods their owners have installed. |
2. No Advertising. No brand advertising or personal sale posts. A comment leaving social media or where to find you is fine, but this subreddit is not a billboard for your product or self promotion. |
3. Don't downvote a post or comment simply because you disagree with it or don't like it. Do downvote something if it detracts from the discussion or provides no value to the community. |
4. When uploading a photo, always give context. Not your car? Tell us where you spotted it. If it is yours, tell us a bit about it (current or planned mods, how long you've owned it, etc). Photos uploaded without any context will be removed. If you can't seem to get the content into the title of your post then simply comment on it after posting. Either will be acceptable. |
5. Check the latest posts or do a search before posting a news article. Chances are that if it's a big story, someone else could have posted it before you. |
6. Be helpful about spotting abuse and reporting it. Use the "report" feature when you see people violating these rules. Feel free to use the "other" field of that feature to give us an idea why you're reporting the post if it's something not listed. |
7. We reserve the right as moderators to allow the occasional AC Cobra, Ford GT, Classic Cougar etc. This sub is about Mustangs -- Sure! -- but we're not about to overlook some great posts about related Ford products. |
Are you an even bigger gearhead than the rest of us? Check out MustangTech, a community that caters to specifically the performance aspect of your Mustang. All are welcome, regardless of year or engine size!

Guy pulled up next to me and said hey wanna
Saw them at a local shopping center.
For the 2020 Mustang EcoBoost, as shown in the picture, where did the box that is usually attached to the glass behind the rearview mirror go? I searched on Google and saw that some cars have it, while others don’t. What’s going on?
Hey guys.
Long time fan of mustangs and have owned a 2001 Bullitt. Unfortunately I sold it back in 2017 and haven't had a mustang since.
I've tracked down my old one but it's not fo sale, and I've been wanting to get back into a stang for the longest time. I've had a bond with that car and it has helped me through some rough times with throttle therapy.
However I can't freaking decide what the hell I want!
Love the look of the s550 and how well the Coyote performs but I can't stand the sound of them. Sorry I'm biased to 2v with long tubes, x pipe etc etc. Best sounding mustang IMO. Dark horse is too new and surpasses my budget. Especially east coast market value. Is there a way to make these sound not so blatty and european? I mean no offense to coyote owners. You cannot beat the performance of them.
Terminators.... who wouldn't want one. But the prices.. I think I'd rather a 07-09 GT500 for the same money if not less. Mach 1 and earlier NA cobras have caught my eye.
I'll always have a soft spot for foxbody. I love the GTs but there's something about the simplicity of the LX with the exposed tail pipes. It's the lightest of all them and I would probably retain the original 5.0 with bolt ons. Even 84 to 86 with the 4 pot headlamps look deadly. I don't care for the slant grille from 79 to 83.
SN95 is probably the best bargain right now. They are overlooked, not personally the best looking in my opinion unless it has cobra goodies and the yummy side pipes. But nonetheless there's the option of the original 5.0 or 2v and 4v.
S197 I think is probably one of the best looking. Still a mod motor that makes a great sound and slightly better power than a 2v. 2010+ the front end is mean. The rear tho I'm not overly excited about. Given the back of the earlier s197 is rather flat, it still looks better to me.
Long story short, I don't know which one I want. I do know I want something that I will add my own twist to it and mod it to my liking. A mustang that is already built and modded might be fun for a bit, but it's someone else's baby they moved on from. I'm a licensed mechanic by trade so I need to tinker lol.
This wouldn't be a daily car. Weekends, road trips and I'd like to get back into autocross and lapping.
So. Having said that what did you end up going with and why? What made you choose that platform over another one?
Hey everyone, new to being a car guy here and this might seem like a dumb question to most, but does anyone know what this hose is for in my 2000 mustang V6? I noticed it had become disconnected and I'm not sure for how long and I'm hoping I didn't damage anything driving with it disconnected.
Hi everyone, hope everyone’s having a good day! Hopefully you guys can help me decipher if this is a good deal or not. I’m interested in upgrading my 2021 Ecoboost premium with 201A package. It was my first sports car, I’ve had it for a little over 2 years now and honestly has been a great introduction to the sports car world, despite how some people like out there like to shit on ecoboosts. I’ve been itching for a GT lately, and I’m interested but not dead set on upgrading.
I found a GT im interested in, but I’m struggling to figure out if it’s a good value at its price, or guidance on how much I SHOULD pay for it if I do pursue.
It is a 2021 GT Premium with 401A (I do care about the extra features you get with the premium high package) in Antimatter Blue. Automatic and 21k miles. It has Performance package, Magneride, Active Exhaust, B&O sound system etc. Basically everything i would want in the car. Window sticker shows MSRP being ~55K. Dealer is asking 36.9k for it. Is this a good deal for what you get? If it’s not a good deal, what should this thing actually be worth? Just trying to find a good deal that checks all the boxes.
Thanks for any feedback.
Now hear me out, This is only an idea. And I’m sure there are some people who have done this before. But I wanted to know… Would this be a bad idea?
I’ve loved the Cobra R since Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and I’ve never seen one being driven in person as a daily. They are almost all in collections or museums. And when they rarely come up for sale they usually fetch $100K or more.
Would the Mustang community hate me if I did this? My plan is to get a GT and get it painted professionally in the correct color code. Get all the trims and aero, reduce weight, upgrade suspension and upgrade the engine to match the 380~ HP engine in the actual Cobra R.
I’d like to get it done professionally. Any suggestions or advice or any disagreements? Many thanks!
Thinking about picking up a low-mile 6MT s197 Mustang with the 3.7 as a daily. Before everyone goes on the V8 rant: I'm a year or two from being able to afford something along the lines of a newer GT. For now I just want to have a manual again that's not awful on gas and it looks like lower milage s197 V6 'stangs with low miles are going for $11k-$16K. I like those prices and the mileage. But I'm not fully sold on those particular Mustangs yet. Open to input from peeps: what issues to look out for on 10 year old V6 Mustangs (hoping to find something with 50K miles or less); any comments on those particular vehicles from former owners? Are they simple? Reliable? Anything obnoxious like rev-hang with them? Thanks!
Hey all I'm a video game design student and I'm making a photo realistic 3d model of a boss 302 with the shaker hood for a school project. and I was wondering if anyone here could point me towards some blue prints with exact measurements to work with. I've been googling around but I haven't been able to find anything with exact measurements.
60k miles, OE forward lower control arm
Drove the tail of the dragon for the first time down in Tennessee. It was a lot of fun and I highly recommend anyone that’s able to get out there to do it. Here’s a photo of my 2017 PP1 GT.
Looking to get the Borla atak axle back and euro style white rear lights. Any suggestions? (V6 manual btw)
I’m debating which swap do I wanna do. Should I do a normal Coyote swap or try to swap a 363 or 427 into my 07 mustang V6. I’m looking for advice, suggestions, and some facts please.
Posting before and after Final is BBK 3/4” long tubes, true dual exhaust, and 4 Carven Mufflers
I have a 2004 deluxe GT under 64k miles. It needs a paint job and a power steering pump because this one’s leaking and whines. I’ve recently did a lot of front end work to it and overall she runs pretty great. Tinted windows, dropped 2”, cold air intake, dvd player, premium sound, limited slip, 19” rims. 40th anniversary package. Under the terrible paint is not a single dent or ding and interior is in near mint condition.
Where in central Indiana can I sell her to someone/dealer that sees the potential in her to spend maybe 3000 on a paint job and be able to sell it profitably later. I’m looking for confidence in a salesman where do I find that?
This sounds like bs. In total, they're offering like $11k to trade my car in plus $0 down 0% APR for 60 months on a mustang of my choice. Sounds like a great deal
My car's an 07 V6 Prem manual with Pony Package with nearly 200k miles. I know its' trade in value isn't even 5k. But the offer is actually from my local dealership..
There's gotta be a catch right?
Hey I have a 2016 mustang eco boost and the catalytic converter is failing. I can hear the rattling when it’s idol but the weird thing is when I fill the tank up the engine light goes off. I’m good about maintenance and know the basics but for the experts my 2 questions
https://www.govdeals.com/asset/146/27091
192k seems a bit high, but I if its running and there are no lights on how bad can it be?
I think I can fix her.
What should I expect if my turbo is going out? For a while, it sounds like ball bearings periodically… Now I’m hearing an occasional squeal like a bad belt . If the turbo goes out, will the car stop running? And any other identifiers to let me know ? thanks please don’t roast me. I’m new.
Over the past couple months my car has been stuttering when taking off from a dead stop in first gear so I kinda have to ride the clutch a little more to be smoother. Today I was reversing up my mom’s driveway and started smelling burnt clutch about halfway up. Ford recently put a new engine in the car about a year ago and am kinda worried that they didn’t do something right when putting everything back together because there’s no way a car with 20k miles should need a new clutch. It’s a 2022 5.0 btw
