Commmunity Rules
1. Be respectful of other pony/muscle cars and leave the insults at home. This community is about a common love for Mustangs, regardless of the number of cylinders they have or the appearance mods their owners have installed.
2. No Advertising. No brand advertising or personal sale posts. A comment leaving social media or where to find you is fine, but this subreddit is not a billboard for your product or self promotion.
3. Don't downvote a post or comment simply because you disagree with it or don't like it. Do downvote something if it detracts from the discussion or provides no value to the community.
4. When uploading a photo, always give context. Not your car? Tell us where you spotted it. If it is yours, tell us a bit about it (current or planned mods, how long you've owned it, etc). Photos uploaded without any context will be removed. If you can't seem to get the content into the title of your post then simply comment on it after posting. Either will be acceptable.
5. Check the latest posts or do a search before posting a news article. Chances are that if it's a big story, someone else could have posted it before you.
6. Be helpful about spotting abuse and reporting it. Use the "report" feature when you see people violating these rules. Feel free to use the "other" field of that feature to give us an idea why you're reporting the post if it's something not listed.
7. We reserve the right as moderators to allow the occasional AC Cobra, Ford GT, Classic Cougar etc. This sub is about Mustangs -- Sure! -- but we're not about to overlook some great posts about related Ford products.

Should I buy a S197 as my first car?

To add some context, my favorite car is the 2005-2009 S197 Mustang ever since I was a kid, problem is that should I even buy it since I’m turning 18 in a week. I have saved money from my earlier jobs, I have found some that were below over 6,000 or below 150 thousand miles for a good price, and were I live at they pretty common car to find here, is so common that I go nuts like the car is following me everywhere I go, even at watching fast and furious 7 I saw that Mustang and went batshit crazy of how that car was haunting me, though I’m not looking for the special editions nor v8’s and I don’t really know if it’s a good idea to buy so early or even as my first car, I’m kinda stuck here.

Anyone who’s installed an aftermarket wing/spoiler, what’s the situation with compatibility to the stock hardware?

I’m looking into getting a wing for my 2016 V6 Convertible, but I’d like to know what it looks like with the stock spoiler removed (without having to doing it myself just yet, although I will eventually). What I’m seeing online is either wings which have a third support connecting to the holes in the middle which makes sense, or a ‘normal’ wing with just exposed holes on the trunk which seems less appealing. Maybe it’d be alright with some plugs, but I won’t worry about it that hard until I’m doing it. Anyway, let me know and thanks in advance!

p0300 after changing coil from p0301

Hi this is a follow up to this post I made about a p0301 on my 2019 premium performance. I pulled the plugs and they looked fine, no cracking or anything but my cylinder head temps still spike, like yesterday while I was in traffic they hit 215 F and then dropped to 175 again. it does this randomly I have no idea why. anyways, I swapped the coil from cylinder 1 to cylinder 3 to see if the code will change to p0303 but instead it just gave me p0300, does this mean the coil is bad or another issue?

when I pulled the plugs and swapped the coils around I didn't have a misfire for like 2 days until I drove the car on the highway at speeds of 70-80 mph, causing misfire after a bit. i realized my misfires come after I put the car under stress like high rpm/speeds. anyone got any ideas? it's 38k miles, literally just changed the oil a few days ago, 91 top tier gas, no tune/completely stock. it's out of warranty now bruh

how can dampen the cold start noise for my neighbors?

i drive a 2024 GT and i just upgraded to an AWE Touring cat back exhaust. sounds great but the cold start is loud as shit. it’s only brief but i feel bad because my garage is below my neighbors apartment unit. are there any tools or silence kits i could use each morning to dampen it, or any methods? i unfortunately don’t have an active exhaust.

for reference i leave for work around 7:30-8 am so not super early but still. i love the sound but cringe every morning. should i remote start the car with the garage door closed and open it a few seconds later? i’m open to anything to help.

thanks.

EcoBoost vs V6 and why?

So I’m here asking this question that’s been asked a lot but most post i’ve found are old so I’m asking for more of an updated response. I currently have two mustang’s one 05 and one 14 both v6, my 05 was my first mustang and got my 14 back in 2021. Im looking to get a newer one but conflicted between which one and yes I know a GT would be a preferred option, But i live in Chicago. Meaning the car is my daily driver, living here in the city its alot of stop and go traffic and not many chances to actually use the GT power all the time. Also the way i drive and how much i drive i would spend so much on gas alone let alone the insurance for living here in Chicago. That being said the ecoboost sounds like the way to go but i still would like to hear other suggestions, i do want to have fun with it still and i do have fun with my V6. I know with a nice exhaust set up, intake, tunes and ect you can pull some power out of the v6. But what about the ecoboost? Hope you guys can help me with this decision here thanks

Help

My passenger side headlight stays on as long as power to the car. Putting it on auto does nothing, is there something wrong with the assembly wiring? I recently replaced the xenaelectron thing (the gray box on the side that actually plugs into the light) my dad thinks I either have a short somewhere, or possibly a ground is messed up. I’m not sure where to look, I’ve gone on google so many times and it doesn’t help me diagnose this at all.

I checked the wiring harness and all the wires looked good, no corrosion or any damaged sleeves. Any ideas would be wonderful, thank you!!

(I drive a 2014 V6, absolute base model)

Fixing lumbar support?

I have a 2019 base ecoboost with manual seats. No lumbar adjustment, but I can tell that there is no support as the seat back just sinks in whenever I sit down, and when I push on the seat back there’s a give and “tap” noise as if two parts are colliding. I see the part online for $15.

Options are I buy the part and try to figure it out myself since I can’t find any info on YouTube or forums, or I take it into the dealer and have to deal with that bill. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Insurance Mustang GT

How much do you guys pay for insurance? I already thought it was too expensive to pay $303 per month, but I accepted it because it was my first insurance and I thought it would be expensive. Last month someone hit my car from behind while I was stopped at a traffic light, scratching the bumper and the diffuser. The guy wanted to give me $100 dollars, and said it certainly wouldn't cost more than $100 to touch up the paint and "sand" the scratch on the diffuser. I told him that $100 was not enough money, and he took out his cell phone and made a claim with GEICO. His insurance paid me in 2 days, $1400. So far so good, but today I received an email from my insurance with my updated rates: $480 dollars PER MONTH. Is this normal? I'm 25 years old, I've had my license for 7 years. I've had 2 tickets, an unsafe driving ticket that was overturned in court, but it still shows up on my record, and unfortunately a careless ticket that I got earlier this year. but even the careless was already on my records when I took out my first insurance ($303), so this 60% increase is just for the claim that another guilty person and assuming the blame made? $480 a month I can pay for another car, this is crazy (I’m in NJ, 07740)

What happened here?

Did somebody try to break into my car last night?

I had a few too many drinks at a party and left it in the catering Hall's lot with permission from the owner of the establishment as it's a friend of mine.

I wasn't able to open the driver's door when I went to pick it up today. Had zero issues when I parked it last night at 730pm or so.

GT350 Buyer Questions

Im looking to get a GT350 this week. Got a few in the radar.

  1. I know people say it needs to reach operating temp before high RPM. How do I detect if the previous owner did not and damaged the engine?

  2. What are questions I should ask specific to the GT350 before I drive hundreds of miles to see the car?

Thanks!

Rear Bumper

I have a 2018 Mustang GT, that has damage on the right corner of the rear bumper. I found one online on marketplace as a part out where the vehicle had a front end collision, but the rear was untouched. But it happens to be an eco-boost. Will the eco-boost rear bumper fit on the 2018 GT? If it makes any difference, the diffuser on mine is still OK.
